Pick Up The Chase: Introducing The Highway Patrol Expansion!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Fellow Officers,

It’s time to increase the speed, explore the outskirts of Brighton, and elevate your responsibilities – welcome to the Highway Patrol Expansion, coming to Police Simulator: Patrol Officers this Summer!

Police Simulator will become bigger, better, faster. And today, we’re giving you a first look at what’s inside!
Brighton is growing!
The Highway Patrol Expansion will extend both the jurisdiction of the Brighton Police Department and your duties as an ever-helpful patrol officer. As the name of the expansion so discreetly suggests, you will finally be able to leave the inner city and stroll on the vast highway that surrounds the entirety of Brighton to explore the wider State of Franklin.

With the expansion, the map will be bigger than ever before – with entrance and exit ramps, overpasses, interchanges, and everything else you’d rightfully expect. From precincts at the highway to gas stations, motels, rest areas, and weigh stations – all these new places must be policed by you as a highway patrol officer.
Let’s speed things up!
The highways surrounding Brighton offer new challenges as they are known for being fast-paced and eventful. For the very first time, we’re introducing car chases into the game: Intense highway chases are inevitable, and when fleeing suspects do not obey, requesting roadblocks, executing PIT maneuvers, utilizing the brand-new spike strips, and employing other strategies may become necessary. After all, the grand reopening of the highway also leads to a concerning surge of car thefts, while drunk drivers pose an even greater risk for other users of the road.

The highway also introduces other new dangers: Larger accidents can include fires you must extinguish with the brand-new fire extinguisher, and scattered debris that you must pick up. After all, it’s your responsibility to ensure that not only the streets of Brighton but also the highways of Franklin are always safe!
Check the trucks, assist the drivers
People need goods – and of course, they are brought from A to B by our incredible freight drivers! For safety reasons, several regulations exist which must be met by all drivers at all times. At the weigh stations, you have to investigate if the trucks are still within the legal limits – after all, there’s only so much a truck is allowed to transport. In addition, papers must be inspected, and the truck should be checked for potentially illegal items.

Along the highway, several drivers will require your assistance. A broken-down car? Find out what’s going on! Someone is driving suspiciously? Make sure they’re not DUI! The citizens of Franklin will be thankful for your ongoing commitment.
New cars to play and patrol with
The Highway Patrol Expansion will include two beautiful new patrol cars: The Interstate Police Vehicle might be a throwback to the past, but even in our modern present it will always look and feel cool. The Endurance Police Vehicle is an incredibly powerful SUV, tailored for pursuits and perfect for intercepting fleeing drivers, thanks to a heavy-duty device that can be used to stop fleeing vehicles at full speed.
Something for everyone
With the Highway Patrol Expansion, we will introduce a bunch of free new features and improvements that can be enjoyed by everybody – without having to own the DLC.

In preparation for the Highway Patrol Expansion, we’re overhauling the entire NPV lane switching behavior, letting the AI react smarter to your moves. In addition, car physics and damage models will also be greatly improved, while new NPV designs have been added.

Within the City of Brighton, everyone will also be able to experience carnapping: NPCs can steal a car and drive away, which – should you observe that - might require you to stop them with a PIT maneuver as long as they’re still in your area of responsibility!

At car accident sites, debris can spawn that has to be picked up so that it won’t cause a danger for other road users. Make sure to remove every single bit – sometimes, you’ll even receive a callout just for that.

In addition, cars can now break down and become stranded at the side of the road. Not good! Make sure to assist the drivers, find out what’s wrong with the vehicle, and call for a tow truck.
SAVE THE DATE: Exclusive gameplay reveal at PAX East!
During this year's PAX East from March 21 to 24 in Boston, you will be able to experience the Highway Patrol Expansion for yourself! Get your hands on the latest build at the astragon Entertainment booth (booth 16105).

For everyone at home, we have something very special planned: On March 23rd from 4:00 to 5:00pm EST, we will host an exclusive livestream right from the PAX Showfloor. At the astragon PAX Showcase panel, we will reveal never-seen-before gameplay from the Highway Patrol Expansion and show it in all its glory. The First Aid Update is out now!⛑️

Officers, there has been an accident!

Hurry to the site and treat individuals in need: The First Aid Update is now available on all platforms!

The highlight of this update features the new content addition “First Aid” along with numerous enhancements to improve your playing experience! Furthermore, we have released a brand new DLC vehicle lighting up the city at night! Let’s dive right into it!
Perform First Aid on patients! 🩹
The injured require your assistance! When arriving at a major accident scene and encountering injured people, the proper approach of the situation is crucial. Take care of patients by performing first aid and interview them about the accident! This update gives you the opportunity to not only gather witness testimonies but to perform essential first aid, stabilize their condition and prepare them for transport to the hospital by the medical professionals. For balancing purposes, the first aid feature is only available upon receiving 7 duty stars in district 2.

Let me treat your injuries! In order to properly treat the patients, you need to be aware of their current health conditions. These include: slightly injured, critically injured and being unconscious, and critically injured and being in a state of cardiac arrest. Treat slightly injured people by applying bandages and interview them as accidents witnesses afterwards to gain more information on the accident!

Critically injured patients are not available for verbal interaction since they are not responsive in their condition. Furthermore, distinct treatments are necessary for critically injured patients to stabilize them effectively: Accident victims that are unconscious are taken care of by only applying bandages and calling the medics for assistance, since they do not require CPR! For patients being in a state of cardiac arrest, the top priority is to administer CPR promptly in order to resuscitate them!

You’re not dying on me! To perform CPR on an injured person you must be precise and effective! Engage in a minigame featuring a pattern on an action line, requiring exact timing to hit the action button within a defined threshold to earn points! Gather a sufficient number of points to successfully complete the minigame and stabilize the patient. Once this condition is achieved, further treatment with bandages can be done! If the CPR attempt is unsuccessful, the injured person will lose consciousness while still regaining their breath.

This patient should be carried on a stretcher: Mark the injured for dismissal once they have been properly treated, their condition has been stabilized and you have completed any feasible accident interviews with slightly injured patients! The medical team, which now consists of 2 medics, can carry patients on a stretcher and will come to your assistance as soon as the patients have been marked. Up to 3 injured people can be transported to the hospital by the ambulance at once!
Enhancing your quality-of-life đź’ś
In order to improve your overall experience of the game, we also set a focus in this update on bug fixes, gameplay adjustments and performance optimizations. To mention a few, you will several fixes for unjustified CP loss issues, improved NPV behavior across the board, fixed multiple crashes, and resolved multiple graphical problems. Alongside other balancing adjustments, we increased the number of tool slots available for each patrol vehicle and defined a useful default loadout.

As mentioned, we have greatly improved performance all over the game. You should now experience way less frame drops, frame hitches, and stutters - while also enjoying increased FPS and improved visuals.

Have a look at the complete changelog at the end of this posting for further details!

As we are aware that there are still issues that need to be resolved, we are constantly working on resolving these and will implement more bug fixes and adjustments in future updates! Always feel free to report bugs and issues to our team on Discord or in the Steam forums! Yes, we read every single comment. Pinky promise.
Bright at night đź’ˇ The Warden Police Vehicle DLC (WPV)
[previewyoutube]https://youtu.be/n0zHxglth08[/previewyoutube]
Easily patrol the streets of Brighton at night with the new night shift police special vehicle!

Effectively communicate with people using the roads during nighttime via an illuminating two-sided lightbar on the special car’s roof, which allows to convey different text messages significantly more intuitively in the dark, enabling easier handling of accidents, traffic issues and violations.

Secure accidents effortlessly by building a road barrier for NPVs being on the same road with displaying the text message “ACCIDENT”, ward off NPVs from passing by using the term “DO NOT PASS” and prompt another vehicle to pull over by communicating “PULL OVER” when positioned in front of a car. However, the lightbar feature can only be used effectively in the dark of the night! To additionally support the visibility around the vehicle, the WPV is further equipped with an underglow light for optimal securing of any scene!

The Warden Police Vehicle is purchasable now at a small price of 2,99€ / $2,99 USD or the equivalent in your region.

The First Aid Update is coming on March 12!

Officers! It’s time to save lives!

Rush to the accident scene and help injured people: The First Aid Update is coming on March 12 to all platforms!

This update mainly focuses on the new content feature “First Aid” and a whole lot of quality-of-life improvements. Let’s look at the details!
The injured require First Aid!⛑️
You encounter a major accident with injured people? Take care of the patients, perform first aid and save lives! Not only will you have to gather witness testimonies, but with the upcoming update, you’ll also need to provide essential first aid and call medical professionals to take them to the hospital once their condition has been stabilized! This feature will unlock upon achieving 7 duty stars in district 2 for balancing purposes.

How are you feeling? The accident patients you will encounter can be in three different health states: slightly injured, critically injured and being unconscious, and critically injured and being in a state of cardiac arrest. Slightly injured NPCs can be treated by applying bandages, after which they can be interviewed as accident witnesses. Critically injured patients will not be responsive and will therefore not be available for verbal interaction. The patients being critically injured also must be treated differently, as unconscious patients do not require CPR and would be taken care of by applying bandages and calling the medics for assistance. Patients being in a state of cardiac arrest need to be resuscitated by performing CPR on them as the top priority!

Save a life! Perform CPR and engage in a minigame featuring a pattern on an action line, requiring precise timing within the defined threshold to earn points. A successful completion of the minigame by accumulating a sufficient number of points will stabilize the patient, allowing further treatment with bandages. A failed CPR attempt here results in the patient losing consciousness while still regaining their breath.

Did someone call for an ambulance? As soon as you have performed first aid and finished any possible interviews with the patients, proceed to mark them for dismissal and request assistance from the medical team, which now consists of two medics, who can carry the patients on a stretcher. An ambulance will be able to transport up to 3 patients at once, that have been marked before.
Quality of Life Improvementsđź«€
In addition to introducing new content, we will also be implementing a bunch of bug fixes, performance optimizations and gameplay adjustments. Among others, these include a fix for large police vehicles struggling to get out of the garage at Bannock Station, resolving some unjustified CP loss issues and a fix for the inability to greet NPCs in a new game’s first shift. Furthermore, we will increase the number of tool slots available for each patrol vehicle and define a useful default loadout, alongside others balancing adjustments. The complete changelog will be revealed in the release posting on March 12!

As it is a high priority for us to improve the overall quality of the game, we are always working on more quality-of-life improvements to incorporate into future updates.
Safety at night: The Warden Police Vehicle DLC(WPV)đź’ˇ
Light up the nights of Brighton with the new illuminating police vehicle!

With the extraordinary addition of a two-sided lightbar on top of the vehicle, featuring the capability to display different messages, effectively communicating with NPCs during nighttime will become significantly more intuitive and effective!

Set up a road barrier for NPCs on the same road to immediately secure accidents by displaying the term “ACCIDENT”, prevent NPCs from passing with “DO NOT PASS” and prompt another vehicle to pull over by showing “PULL OVER” when positioned in front of a car. However, keep in mind that the lightbar will only be effectively usable during the night. When getting out of the special vehicle while headlights are activated, the WPV will additionally be equipped with an underglow light to enhance its visibility at nighttime!

The Warden Police Vehicle is going to be purchasable at a small price of 2,99€ / $2,99 USD or the equivalent in your region.
