30XX 0.27 Patch Notes - October 27, 2021

Hello! Today's 30XX patch iterates on Prototype Augs and adds a handful of new ones, adding some spice to the system. Just in time for Halloween! Spooky. Prototype stat balances have been removed, and we've buffed a few of the less powerful Blessings to compensate. Today's patch also experiments with new Surge controls for Ace - he can now either hold the button press to Surge or double-tap as before.

Lots of other changes & bugfixes below as usual - thanks for playing!

--

GAME CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Adjusted how Prototype Augs work:
    • Prototype "balances" - the third, stat-based component of a prototype - have been removed. They weren't very fun. (Protobalancer now instead grants nuts when acquiring a Prototype. Its tooltip may be out of date in some languages until next patch.)
    • Adjusted the penalty applied by some Curses (Powerless, Outcast, Noodly) so they limit your interactions with the relevant system (attacking, powers, shopping) without making them completely unusable. (Outcast currently increases shop prices starting
    • next* shop spawn - in a future patch, this will also affect the current level's items.)
    • Buffed a few existing Blessings that aren't very good without a hefty Prototype Balance. (Mender, Grab Bag, and Archive).
    • Added a handful of Singleton Prototypes that spawn as a complete unit (a combined Blessing and Curse) so we can bring back some of our favorites from 20XX and add a few new ones. This patch introduces 5 new Prototypes into 30XX.
  • Experimental: Ace can now Surge his Techniques either by double tapping (as before) or holding the button a bit longer (150ms currently). We're feeling out which style works better here. Let us know what you think!
  • Mind Palace NRG down to 8 (from 10).
  • Reboot's laser attack now spawns relative to the player's vertical position (instead of Reboot's), making it more reliable to aim the laser since Reboot floats a bit behind you.
  • Shortened Dustria's level length in the midgame.
  • Fixed another issue where you could start a Daily/Weekly challenge with Rerolls.
  • Fixed an issue that could rarely cause Clockzone Gear Platforms to teleport once after loading their room. (We did this by adjusting how their timing works when a room is loaded, so some chunk sequences could have slightly different timing connections now.)
  • Fixed a similar issue for Clockzone's Waterfall Platforms (that wasn't quite as visible/obvious).
  • Fixed an issue with Clockzone's Gear Rollies (sawblade gears) teleporting after recovering from being frozen. They'll now properly resume their patrol once they've thawed out.
  • Fixed a visual issue with re-applying Freeze effects before they've ended on a victim. Also polished up Freeze effects a bit in general.
  • Fixed an issue causing Maker Mode's chunk skip feature (hold Interact for two seconds like you're teleporting in co-op!) to sometimes fail to work in some themes.
  • Leaving a Glory Zone before completing it now always results in a Bronze reward if you re-enter (instead of always resulting in a Gold reward).
  • Added a better tell before Dustria's Tractor miniboss movements.
  • Fixed a potential cause for Damage Numbers showing up with the option to hide them activated. (Imminent Rapture damage still shows, else you might not notice it's on.)
  • Fixed an issue causing Dracopent's Claw's second-level Charge to not properly work with Nina's Wave Beam.
  • Ace's charged attacks with Armatort's Pound (shot eraser) no longer destroy his own saber throw.
  • In local co-op, pausing the game or entering a menu of any kind now prevents input from other players for one second (so you won't accidentally pick something up out of the options by interacting with an Aug Choice while your partner's moving around and jumping).
  • Fixed an inconsistency where using Techniques canceled Ace's autocharge, but not manual charging. (All Technique activations now interrupt charging as intended.)
  • Adjusted a few elements of Deepverse's background (and fixed some others).
  • All text popups now last an additional half second on-screen before beginning to fade.

30XX 0.26 Patch Notes - October 6, 2021

Hello! Today's 30XX 0.26 patch adds a few new supporting Augs for Repros, adds an upgrade to Salvager Circuit that lets you Salvage Choice Machines (note: there's a Rank 2 for Salvager Circuit in the Memory Index now!), and more!

NB: As of this patch, Salvager Circuit has a Rank 2 upgrade available in the Memory Index shop. We've probably got some messaging work to do later on to make it more obvious when an upgrade is available for purchase.

Thanks for playing!

--

GAME CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Choice Machines (rewarded after minibosses, Glory Zones, and Contemplation Rooms) are now Salvageable. You'll need Salvager Circuit's Rank 2 upgrade in the Memory Index to do this.
  • Added 3 new Augs that support Repros!
  • Updated a few aspects of Hoot Omega's battle:
    • Hoot now flees across the map at different health percentages, leading to a shorter battle when you arrive at the end (instead of getting there at 30-40% HP).
    • Hoot also summons a giant Rending Whirl behind him when he stops moving, preventing the player from getting by to the right and running past the boss. (This also forces the player to fight him from the left side.)
  • Grandmaster now punches twice per button press.
  • Added a new Clockzone background after the miniboss.
  • With the Loadout Challenge Boon active, Contemplation Room/Glory Zone rewards are now replaced by more nuts (instead of more choices, changed from getting nothing last patch). We'll probably change these again a bit later so they reward a standard Choice Machine instead.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the player to be "crushed" by an upward-moving Dustria Crusher without actually getting pushed into the ceiling.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause crashing after finishing a Glory Zone.
  • Reworked the way Gold options in Glory Zones and Contemplation Rooms are chosen so they're consistent in Challenges.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause duplicate Cores to both give you 25 nuts
  • and* add the duplicate to your inventory.

30XX 0.25 Patch Notes - September 15, 2021

Hello! Today's 30XX 0.25 patch changes up how 30XX how Glory Zones and Contemplation Rooms work, adding a little spice in the form of Bonus Conditions, which give players additional reward options for playing well. It also fixes a bunch of bugs that've been reported since we released Dustria last patch!

These patch notes also include fixes implemented in hotfix form since 0.24's release a few weeks ago (that we didn't release formal notes for).

Thanks for playing!

--

GAME CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Glory Zones and Contemplation Rooms now trigger a Bonus Challenge when they start.
    • At present, the Challenge is either Play Safe (complete the room while avoiding damage) or Be Swift (complete the room quickly).
    • Each Challenge has multiple reward tiers - play well, and you can earn up to two additional reward choices when you complete the event!
    • You'll always get at least one reward choice, but can earn one or two more depending on performance.
  • Powerless Void (Entropy Condition) has been adjusted for Dustria's release (making the Condition take away 2, 4, or 6 Powers).
    • The intent here is that the highest rank of the Condition removes all Powers - I'm not sure yet if we'll change the ranks when Level 8 comes out (perhaps to -3, -6, -8), or add four ranks of the Condition. This means that, for now, Powerless Void 3 still lets you get one Power.
  • Endlessly spawning enemies (like Penumbra's Void Orbs) no longer proc life-on-kill effects or Renewal Pod. Correctly flagged mid-level-spawned Void Orbs as "no loot" enemies. (Void Orbs that happen to naturally occur in the level and don't respawn can still drop stuff.)
  • Altered Dustria's Track Platforms so you can safely wall kick off of electrified platforms - only the top will hurt you.
  • Fixed an error in Daily and Weekly Challenges where Ace could see Nina-only items, and be unable to use them.
  • Fixed a rare error that could cause enemies to not run their AI loops or be attackable. (I think this only actually manifested for one specific Rolly placement in Burning Temple.)
  • Removed a few items from Mega Mode that probably shouldn't be there (Thrift Actuator, Shopsmasher, Shopaholic). We'll probably re-add these if it makes sense to do so down the line.
  • The Outcast Curse now applies in Mega Mode.
  • Hyperinflation (Entropy Condition) now works properly in Mega Mode.
  • Barrel Spawners & Grinders in Dustria now always spawn at the start of a Contemplation Room (instead of during the encounter).
  • Altered one of Zen Primus' collision boxes to try to prevent the issue where he sometimes gets stuck on a wall.
  • Fixed Facesmasher getting stuck on Absolution's Glass enemies.
  • Updated a few item tooltips.
  • Fixed an issue causing Thrill of Battle to expire at the start of a boss battle much more quickly than intended.
  • Fixed Armatort's Dome causing health pickups to appear to restore health to a used Autotank. (It didn't do anything, since you couldn't re-use the tank anyway - purely a visual fix.)
  • Performing Ryuusei now cancels the dash state. (You couldn't go any faster horizontally during the move, but it'd count for Unstoppable Force time and look wack.)
  • Absolution's scythe throw will now be cleared when starting her second phase, even if she hasn't dashed over to collect it.
  • Excitement Engine is now a once-per-run Aug. (It didn't do anything if you stacked it - giving a bigger speed boost seems too strong if it's stackable, and increasing the duration isn't super useful.)
  • Fixed a Mega Mode error that could prevent some Augs from working properly until reloading the game after dying in a stage.
  • Fixed an error that could cause a crash when certain Powers interacted with Twin Sparker Spark Orbs (or the ones fired by Capital Punishment's fists).
  • Most area attacks no longer disappear when hitting an invulnerable target. (In general, the affected abilities here are "attacks that don't stop when they hit an enemy they don't kill".) We'd already done this for Rending Whirl - notable additions here are Negation Pulse, Crystal Wave, and Nina's Wave Beam.
  • Fixed an error where the Level 7 boss in a Challenge wasn't properly awarding points for leftover time.
  • [Experimental] Increased the pickup size of minor pickups (nuts, health, etc). This is mostly intended to make it easier to snag items in tricky spaces, but we might revert/rein it in if needed.
  • Fixed any type of Repro attack triggering retaliation attacks from Beta Shieldfaces.
  • Altered Deepverse Bouncy trajectory so their vertical movement is a bit slower.
  • Beta-form Deepverse Patroller base HP reduced by 25% (to 40, down from 50).
  • Crushing Void now properly moves affected Sound Alarms for the client in online co-op.
  • Fixed an annoying black texture square that'd appear the frame you defeat the first boss of a run.

30XX 0.24 - Fires of Industry Major Update - Aug 26, 2021

Hello! Today's 30XX 0.24 patch contains FIRES OF INDUSTRY, our first major content update for 30XX. Plumb the depths of the Forgotten Factory, Dustria, in search of familiar friends and brand new powers for our heroes!

To celebrate, 30XX is 15% off this week during Gamescom 2021.

Full notes below - thanks for playing!

--

GAME CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Added Dustria, the Forgotten Factory, to the 30XX level rotation! Dustria's a high-speed kinetic playground of a level, complete with new platforms to navigate, new enemies to outplay, new music to groove to, a new boss to be murdered by, and awesome new Powers for our heroes if you manage to avoid being murdered by the boss.
  • 30XX runs now extend to level 7.
    • You'll have to start a new Mega Mode save file to include Dustria - existing Mega Mode saves won't include it.
  • Added Repros: floaty pals that'll help you survive any challenge! Patch 0.24 introduces 12 collectible companions built to help you out in your journey.
    • Repros serve a variety of purposes - some attack, some defend you, some provide utility, and many scale with different types of player stats & abilities, enabling fresh new builds!
    • Most Repros level up if you collect more than one of the same type.
    • Supporting Augs for our new Repros will likely come next patch (0.25).
  • Fixed an issue that could cause level softlocks in Mega Mode (where you'd start a level and not be able to load in).
  • Fixed Beta Bee's hitbox being smaller than it should have been.
  • Fixed up several of Nina's Power Fusion mechanics in online play.
  • Echocave Shieldface enemies now operate on the same timer as the rest of the chunk they're in (instead of only activating once the player comes near).
  • Fixed a few rare edge cases that could result in conflicting Prototype attributes.
  • Removed the Secret Dice challenge condition. The "Clover" blessing has been removed from Challenge runs.
    • Rerolls mess with item consistency in a way that can't be easily fixed - if we put the time into making this work, we might bring them back in the future.
    • Clover still spawns in non-Challenge runs.

EDITOR CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Added Dustria support into the Editor. Try combining Exploding Barrels, Production Lines and Spring Platforms for crazy contraptions!
  • Most phases now have additional green and red zones. This should prevent the player from going out-of-bounds in Editor chunks as easily.
  • Assets that have the "always spawn" option enabled now have a purple backdrop to make this behavior more easily visible.
  • Deepverse's Laser Platforms' Duration parameter now represents the total duration of one cycle, rather than only the "on" phase. This means that the Duration is now 1000 ms larger than before (but still has the same in-game effect).
  • Deepverse's Laser Platforms' "Wait time" parameter has been renamed to "Offset" and can no longer exceed the currently set Duration.
  • Fixed a bug where the medley versions of the Echocave and Clockzone music tracks were swapped.
  • Fixed a bug where drawing a path for a Crystal Path and hovering over a path of another Crystal Path would modify both paths at once.
  • Fixed a bug where you could undo actions while drawing a path for a Crystal Path, resulting in weird behavior.
  • Fixed a bug where Echocave's Cylinder Connection could be placed in incorrect locations.
  • Fixed a bug where Penumbra's Background Pillar decoration could overlap itself, resulting in weird auto-tiling.
  • Fixed a bug where the "vertical direction" object parameter was not available in basic mode.

30XX 0.23 Patch Notes - August 4, 2021

Hello! Today's 30XX 0.23 patch adds visual polish and fixes up a bunch of bugs. It's pretty small! We're gearing up for 0.24, which'll be a whopper. Get ready!

NOTE: Patch 0.24 is projected to launch on Thursday, August 26 (not the 25th, like our normal "every-three-weeks" timing would suggest). 0.24 is 30XX's first major content update, complete with a brand new level theme and set of powerful, familiar allies. We've opened Superfriends applications (closed test, under NDA) to help test 0.24 before it goes live. See the Discord for more details.

GAME CHANGES & FIXES:
  • Experimental: Added variance in enemy placement to many Burning Temple chunks. Let us know if you see any spawns that look a little unfair!
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the player's bottom half to get stuck in certain objects.
  • The dash state is now "stickier" while on the ground, and takes a bit to deactivate when dashing up/down a slope. This makes Unstoppable Force more reliable to activate on slopes/in general.
  • Fixed an issue causing the "I'm almost on the ground, so don't activate hover/fly!" logic to apply to some objects it shouldn't have, like Penumbra's block switches.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Ace to slowly float downward while hovering after using certain Powers.
  • Beta Rollies' flame trails now actually hurt.
  • Experimental: Changed how Beta Crystal Elemental attacks work.
  • Fixed an issue with item rerolls not applying correctly in Challenges.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause item inconsistency in Weekly Challenges when using Quick Restart.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause item inconsistency in Challenges between characters.
  • Fixed an issue where an interaction between Airdash and Hover/Fly could let you fly infinitely.
  • Fixed an issue where your "starting character" save data could get set to an invalid value, causing startup crashes.
  • Added a default framerate limit to Fullscreen without V-Sync (240). Change the value given in config.ini in the game's install directory if you'd like to change this. This change has no effect on any render mode other than fullscreen with vertical sync off. A value of "0" will remove the cap (and behave like previous 30XX patches). Values under 30 will be increased to 30.
  • Added beta Falling Spikes in Echocave that can't be destroyed. Echobeast's spikes (since they're also indestructible) now use the Beta color.
  • Updated lots of item icons.
  • Added a better tell when a Deepverse Wall Laser is about to start firing.
  • Added a tell indicating a Glitch Arc's path before it starts sending out projectiles.
  • Added duplicate Core prevention that'll automatically convert a duplicate Core into nuts if a game effect would give you a Core you already have.
  • Activating Zen Ascent while sliding on a wall will now always send Ace in the opposite direction of the wall. (This also fixes an issue where Ace could activate ZA repeatedly while up against a wall to deal crazy boss damage, since it ignores iframes.)
  • Updated Clockzone's Waterfall Platform visuals.
  • Updated Lava visuals.
  • Updated Slot Machine visuals.
  • The tokens display on the HUD no longer displays when you have 0 tokens.
  • Updated airdash visuals for effect consistency when not dashing forward.
  • Updated Highvault's Jumpzone visuals.
  • Fatal Fury is no longer Salvageable.
  • Armor pickups now track properly in online play if you grab one and quickly take damage (for example, by picking up Armor that's on top of lava), using the same "give me credit for this pickup before the host verifies it's really there" logic that Health pickups use.
  • Corrected Wind Platform SFX in Highvault.
  • Fixed a few animation issues relating to using Lara's hammer swing and throw in quick succession.
  • Fixed a crash relating to Prototype Resonator and the Grab Bag blessing.
  • Fixed an error where Nina would sometimes not play her charged shot animation shortly after moving.
  • Zen Primus now has a different color scheme while enraged.
  • Made the end-level Power pickup icon smaller so it fits in the item circle.
