Weekly Patch Notes #4

Made some big(and important) changes to the discs flight/release this week. This should address the complaints about discs not flying on the intended line, as they no longer get a vertical boost on release in relation to the flight plate. That caused steep hyzers for example to get pushed left(for a right handed character) on release, now they look WAY better and more of a sweeping flight.

It was also brought to my attention the third click wasn't registering properly, which was completely true and an oversight on my part. I rewrote the check so it is now pixel perfect, and changed the sound to make it more obvious when you hit the yellow "perfect" zone. If you hit the yellow, even if you are not exactly centered, there will be no hyzer/anhyzer penalty.

I also changed the punishment for a missed third click, before it would just penalize the hyzer angle left/right depending on the missed click, now that penalty is reduced but it also pushes the disc left/right. This feels way more natural and enables griplock anhyzers and slip out hyzers.

Lastly I added the first new character! Morigesh is a lefty, to balance the lefty/righty characters. Definitely the most evil of disc golfers. Now that there are four characters future characters will have to be unlocked in some way.

-Quickfix to change next/prev disc back to z/x as the E key doesnt work to change discs. except on the driving range for some reason. investigating now

-New Character! Morigesh joins the fun. when she's not busy corrupting the souls of the innocents she unwinds with some disc golf. second lefty character, I think from here out additional characters will be unlockable instead of unloked by default
-Griplocks and Slipouts are now distinctly possible! Discs now push left/right on a missed third click in addition to hyzered/anhyzered. disc angle penalty has been reduced alon with this change
-lefties now have more hyzer on early third clicks and more anhyzer on late clicks, instead of the opposite way. same as righties

-Throw bar works now! before it was not correctly detecting third clicks in the yellow zone. Now if you click in the yellow you get a "perfect" hit, and the disc will fly on the angle you aimed at, no adjustment. Also changed the sound to make it more obvious
-discs no longer get a vertical boost(in relation to the flight plate) on release. Instead, they are just angled up 10-20 degrees straight vertically. this was the cause of throws not appearing to fly down the line you were aiming, which would have been worse on steep hyzers/anhyzers as they would get a boost left/right. The releases look a million times better
-also helps with short putts releasing low, will not have to aim as far above the basket
-made some big changes to disc flight, particularly glide. Disc flight in general will be less of a rainbow and more of a line drive.

Weekly Patch Notes #3

This week I've added a much requested driving range to the game, and along with that a distance counter on every shot. And the ability to lean left/right around trees or other obstacles, so you shouldn't get in spots with no shot anymore. Plus the characters keep their lead foot in the correct lie behind the line of play which looks pretty funny. So theres that.

3/28/2020
-Added Driving Range. Button is at the bottom of the play now screen
-added distance marker to shot
-Increased collision checks on basket cage, should reduce disc falling through basket
-added indicator on play now screen to indicate selected course

-fixed floating spawn if back 9 was selected before range
-audio settings now save
-added an option to hide the key guide display
-inverted aim, replaying the tutorial options now save correctly
-oh yeah power shots are unlimited on the range now too

4/1/2020
-Added ability to lean left/right to get around obstacles. A/D respectively. Changing discs has been moved to Q/E along with that change
-Characters will keep their lead foot behind their lie so its a legal throw...kinda

Weekly Patch Notes

Here is the progress I've made this week. The game should be much more stable for everyone, and much more predictable. Right now I am working on a driving range that should be done soon so players can get a good idea of their discs flight, and from there I will move on to wind and local multiplayer.

3/19/2020
-made a change in disc flight to hopefully stop the "double power" bug. I was not able to recreate the bug to test this better so let me know if you see it again
-reduced Rolling Thunder VRAM usage to an amount closer to the other levels
-deactivated some unused plugins, will hopefully reduce overhead

-discs wont fall through ground anymore
-discs wont get random wobbles out of the hand

-Redid Collision model for the basket cage. discs wont fall through the basket anymore
-discs can be rearranged in the bag and will go in the spot you select.
-enabled purchasing the 8th bag slot

Weekly Patch Notes

Welp, the first week was busy and plenty of bugs and oddities were found by all the new players! I appreciate everybody's feedback over the first week and patience as I get the game running smoothly and hopefully predictably for everyone.

These are the patch notes from this week of development. I post these in the discord server as I update the game, so if you want the hottest development info hop on the discord and tell me what ya think!

3/12/2020
-fixed tap ins for most cases, didn't see any spit outs for three rounds
-cant rotate characters spines infinitely anymore
-animations stop playing when you move to the next hole
-no more infinite money glitch

3/15/2020
-added ace fanfare
-characters now reach up/down on tap ins, should help with missing elevated tap ins. also wukong the lefty was reaching out with his right hand, now reaches with his left
-character select resets each time you bring up the screen so it will be accurate now. no more picking phase and getting another
-lowered vertical boost on putts, will have to aim further up as a result
-Fixed the floating basket on cascades back 9.
-Rolling thunder hole 5 is a par 4

-Fixed scorecard bug when caused from pausing the game during the round
-changed how water is detected, which should stop false positives on throwing in the water. Change also improved framerate on levels with water, particularly Rolling Thunder.
-that water fix should have fixed the floating disc error that made you have to restart. Let me know if that happens again and where

-Fixed drop zone bug when throwing into water from waters edge
-added visuals to show how to unlock courses
-fixed scorecard tally bug when setting course record
-discs should fall through landscape less
-left stick on controllers can be used to navigate menus now
