Update 1 - Day 1 Hot Fixes

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for joining KW2DE on day one! We god a lot of valuable feedback talking to our players online and on the forums today. There were several issues badly effecting the game that we aimed to resolved today, we are about half way done with this, and will follow up with another update tomorrow afternoon. We expect by tomorrow evening the game will be in good shape.

We apologize for not catching these issues prior to release, but these issues only showed up once a larger number of players stated playing the game, and went unnoticed during beta testing.

And so introducing Update # 1
  • Fixed issue in Survival CoOp where Zombies will not appear
  • Fixed issues with blurry looking units (we`ll take care of buildings and terrain tomorrow)
  • Some improvements to game graphics looking pixelated for some players (more to come tomorrow)
  • Some improvement to visual performance (more to come tomorrow)
  • Updated resources icon to match resources counter
  • Added resources cap indicator under the minimap

And we wanted to add that we are aware of issues with matchmaking, as well as with Chinese language in Techs/Card menu. This will be fixed tomorrow as well.

Thanks for supporting our indie game!

Launch day is upon us!

Hey Everyone,

From our small indie team, welcome and thanks for your support and buying our game.

You might have played our previous Kingdom War games, or just joining us for a first time - there are couple of things about our small-studio approach we`d like to bring up.

First - we work fast, if there`s some issue on launch, we`ll check the reports and fix it within hours. Days - if it`s something very complex. And let`s face it - even huge studios like Ubisoft and EA with hundreds of employees, and not just 3 guys - get these bad launch issues. So please allow us a bit of a breathing room - bad reviews just hurt the games chances, player population and can even bankrupt a small at home studios like ours.

Second - communicating with our players is the foundation of our design approach. You`ll see us present in the game chat for most of the day, we reply to all and every forum post on our Steam forums. So if you have questions, suggestions, or a bug to report - talk to us, we`ll be happy to listen, and personally address each and every question or complaint.

All in all - I hope you`ll enjoy the game. Sure - this is not a AAA Strategy game, it`s rough around the edges, but if you get past that - there`s a lot of enjoyment ahead. See you on the battlefield!

Keep in mind - that for the owners of Kingdom Wars 2: Battles, the game is added to the library for free, automatically. But due to how Steam operates, it might take a few hours, if not even into tomorrow, for the game to appear in your library.

Release Date Announced

Hey Everyone,

We finally have a release date! KW2DE will be launched on July 9th (with potential for a day or two delay).

Meanwhile the team continues non-stop work on KW2DE, and we expect to accomplish a lot more during the next 5 weeks, polishing everything about the game prior to release.

Major Beta Update
We just released a major update for the Beta build that many of you are playing. There are too many changes to do a full patch list. We`ll just say that this update represents nearly two months of work, and effects every area of the game. From polishing campaign, to working on performance, graphics, and pathfinding, to a lot of quality of life improvements and bug fixes.

From this point onward we`ll be updating the Beta build weekly, and inviting a lot of new players to join the beta.

Thanks for your support, and if you are part of the beta - please leave us some feedback on the forums. It`s greasily appreciated!

Progress Report Game Comparison

Hey Everyone,

Release is fast approaching, with release window set sometime between June 11 and July 15th.

As a reminder - everyone who purchased the original game, will get a free copy of Definitive Edition - a new game added to their Steam library. This will automatically happen on release day. And games are not compatible (saved games, progress e.t.c)

Original vs Definitive Edition
This week we wanted to show you how exactly KW2DE differs from the original. When we set to create KW2DE the plan was to redesign the game from the ground up. Sure it shares a lot with the original - but we really wanted for it to play and feel as a new game. Here`s some screenshots and that show what we have accomplished, as well as some key features.

Updated Game Engine
Original used our 2005 DX9 game engine. Game now uses our 2018 DX11 engine -better performance, bigger scale and improved graphics.

Epic Presentation
The game camera is nearly twice as high, as battlefield control went from up-close view of the original, to the epic top down camera. Players no longer see low poly models up-close, or manage a lot of small battalions, instead the new camera brings out the best in the game, allowing to see entire town with several thousand units on screen.

Much Bigger Battles
The game went from hundreds to thousands of soldiers on the battlefield. The original had battalion size of 20 soldiers. Definitive Edition battalion size feature 60 soldiers. Number of Zombies went from dozens to hundreds.

New Main Menu
Main Menu was redesigned from the ground up. Main menu is quite important as a lot of gameplay – like crafting new techs, cards e.t.c takes place there.

Updated GUI
We spent a lot of work updating in-game GUI, from showing the unit stats, to allowing selecting 16 units instead of 8, scaling and improving the look of the GUI and much more.

Addressing Player Complaints
Original game was liked, but various technical issues, bugs in the original game engine, and some gameplay flow issues got in a way of players enjoying the game. With hundreds of reviews and thousands of player forum posts we had a perfect roadmap ready for us. Definitive Edition now addressed majority of players complaint from the original game

Redesigned Gameplay Flow
Gameplay flow in DE is faster and streamlined. Battles are quicker, with less things to control and micro-manage, but on a bigger, epic scale.

Let the Testing Begin - (Beta Signups Closed)

Beta Signups have been closed. Last batch of emails was sent today 07/03/2019.

Hey Everyone,

The time is finally here for the first stage of the KW2DE testing. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, and expect the testing period to last for quite a while.

In the near future we`ll setup an automated way to get your game key, but for now you will have to email us to start playing.

Send us a quick email to [email protected] with subject of "KW2DE Testing". Inside the email include the link to your Steam Profile, and mention if you have played any of our games before. We`ll get back to you within 48 hours with your key. Please keep in mind that we will give preference to these who played the original game, or our other games.

We really appreciate your first impressions and feedback on the forums. Though we kindly ask you to hold back with posting videos and screenshots - we are still working on improving graphics and GUI.

Thanks for your help and taking the time to play this WIP build.
