End of FGT Announcement

Hello everyone, Megusta Game here!

Have you fully enjoyed the FGT last week?

Many players have given amazing feedback on the brand new Chapter 4 that has been released for the first time, and we were able to set proper goals for development accordingly.

There were numerous constructive opinions including battle visibility, difficulties in fighting against some long-distance attacks, development on the poison field system, game convenience, and bug reports.

Each and every one of the feedback is important to us, and we will do our best to perfectly polish the game before presenting it to you again.

We couldn't have come this far without the attention and support you gave us.
Please continue supporting us in the future, and we will come back to you with our best.

Many thanks,
Megusta Game

FGT Announcement & Dev Blog#4

Hello everyone, Megusta Game here!

Today, we would like to introduce ‘Chapter 4: The Secret garden, Lam Palace’.’

But just before that, we want to give short notice about the FGT on the 6th of September.

The FGT that starts from the 6th of September will be the last beta test before the Early Access of Unsouled, which means that this is the final evaluation of our game before the launch, in which we have put a lot of hard work.

Also, it is the first time for Chapter 4, which has been partly shown in the trailers and some images, to be completely revealed. We are all quite nervous and excited at the same time.

We do hope that more people could experience Chapter 4. If you want to participate, please send an email to [email protected] so we can send you the key for the FGT.

Well then, let’s continue with the story on ‘The Secret garden, Lam Palace’

Some may have already noticed that we got the design motive from many places in Korea, such as Changdeokgung Palace, Dosan Seowon, Bulguksa.

Unlike the chapters before, the designs are based on the dev’s home country. We had numerous references to consider and had a high understanding of the subject, so we wanted to bring the places into the game with as much detail as possible. From the roof tile to the whole architecture, we have put in as much effort as possible.

The look of the monsters is quite familiar to Koreans. You will recognize foot soldiers and cannon soldiers along the way. The Confucian scholars, while they are not elite monsters, will push you into an intense situation.

Ammu’s necromancy gradually becomes perfect as the story advances. To show that to the players, the designs and AI of the enemies are getting closer to human-like figures. Also, we have put more effort into the fights to make actions more natural for not only the boss but also for the normal enemies.

Chapter 4’s boss, Gnar, is a powerful monster that uses a falchion and poison. It puts pressure on the players with constant wielding of the sword and a poison that gradually drains the HP.

It is hard for us to not love it when we think about the amount of effort put into the boss stage. After the Rage Mode, the battle for phase 2 intensifies. You may not be able to properly fight against it if you haven’t fully practiced your control along the way to Chapter 4.

In the Secret Garden, there are many hidden gimmicks and secret places. Open your eyes and focus during the game! You will be able to enjoy a lot more than you have expected.

When the player defeats ‘Gnar’, the player enters the last stage of Unsouled - Chapter 5: Ancient Monastery of Gatnis Island.

Please keep your eyes on for the next dev letter to see the last chapter of Unsouled!

Thank you for your continuous support of us, and don’t forget to participate in the FGT.

Many Thanks!

FGT Announcement & Dev Blog#3

Hello everyone, Megusta game here!

This time, we are going to talk about behind-the-scenes DEV episodes for ‘Chapter 3. Unbeatable Fort: Agnay Castle’

But before we dive into the episodes, we would like to talk about our plan to run Unsouled FGT on September 6th.

A lot of players gave precious feedback on Unsouled during the last CBT period, and we have worked hard to polish and improve the game based on that.

A month has passed since the CBT, and now we’d like to present our new build with improved user convenience, balance, and many others by running an FGT.

Please do not hesitate to contact the email address below if you want to participate in the FGT, no matter whether you have participated in CBT or not.
[email protected]

Now let’s talk about ‘Chapter 3. Unbeatable Fort: Agnay Castle’ and ‘Unchosen One, Thunder Lad’.

Unbeatable Fort is where the game goes to another level in its difficulty. Players will encounter harder enemies, new gimmicks, and story branching. More to enjoy, but more to overcome.

The elite monsters that come onto the stage from the Unbeatable Fort region use Ghost Orb, unlike the normal mobs. They also use more than 2~3 skills to pressure the players in various ways.

The first elite monster that players will encounter is ‘Muk Mage’. As priests who convey the word of God, they welcome necromance since they can cooperate with Ammu to use magical power when they are brought back from the dead.

The next elite monster is Poison Damsel. They’re experts in assassination techniques and martial arts with amazing immunity to poisons. If you turn your eyes away for a second, you’ll come back only to see a red screen.

Unbeatable Fort: Agnay Castle and many enemies players encounter got their design ideas from India, especially from the Chittorgarh and Amber fort. We have put a lot of work to restore extremely comprehensive structures, geometric patterns, and carvings into the game.

We are quite proud of the magnificent front view of Agnay Castle that can be seen from the boat
.

The temple with lots of patterns and carvings is also a result of thorough consideration and effort. For pixel work, we feel like we did our best. Hope many players also feel the same when they see it.

The Boss of Chapter 3, Lad uses a lightning-fast pattern using both bow and sword, and actual lightning to attack the player. It matches his nickname, ‘Unchosen One, Thunder’ - It always brings lightning storms with it, pressuring a player to choose fast between guard and counterattack.

Lad is one of the most aggressive bosses of all. It enters the rage mode during its attack, not when his HP drops to a certain point, pressuring a player even more.

The player who defeats ‘Unchosen One, Thunder Lad’ departs ‘Unbeatable Fort: Agnay Castle’ and enters a mysterious region that has never been covered before, ‘Chapter 4. The Secret Garden: Lam Palace’.

We will shed some more light on Lam palace in the next DEV episodes! Do not forget to apply for the FGT, too!

Thanks!

Dev Blog#2-Valley of Namam

Hello everyone, Megusta Game here!

Just as we mentioned last week, this time we will talk about behind-the-scenes DEV episodes for ‘Chapter 2. Valley of Namam’ and the Boss ‘Seven Flames, Irus.’

After defeating the first Boss Niug, the players probably stepped into the scenery of ‘Chapter 2. Valley of Namam’ with confidence. However, the feeling quickly fades away, encountering enemies with brand new patterns and environmental barriers such as sand storms.

We got the design idea for the Valley of Namam from the Siq Canyon of Jordan, widely known as the Petra monument.

With such complicated geographical features, the Valley of Namam acts as a natural fortress for Odibil the desert kingdom. It is also a home base of the Iznuch cult and where the Nalub assassin crew is perched.

As some players may have noticed, running away from a huge ball of rock is a homage to a scene in Indiana Jones. Seeing many players surprised by the sudden chasing scene, we were glad that we reached our goal.

Desert and moor are not the only sceneries that can be seen at the Valley of Namam. Deep in the desert, there are fortress-like sanctums of Iznuch. We made the places closely resemble architectural styles of Persian buildings, especially Herod’s Palace. It was a difficult task to realize a place from another culture that one has never experienced before, but we are satisfied with the overall result.

After all these difficulties, the players finally meet the Boss of Chapter 2, ‘Seven Flames, Irus’ from the place that resembles the Petra ruins. As the name tells, Irus suffocates players from all directions with its fascinating flames. Unlike the first Boss Niug, it holds a player back with its long-distance attacks and overpowers approaching opponents with its invincible skills. It has some complexity, which will make players think of a fighting game.

Those who have read the DEV episodes may have already noticed that Unsouled gets its ideas from unique cultural places all over the world. Enjoy Unsouled as if you are traveling the world, with stages filled with unique concepts and stunning pixel art!

And that just about does it for Chapter 2: Valley of Namam. Next time we’ll be back with DEV episodes on ‘Chapter 3. Unbeatable Fort: Agnai Castle.’

Bye until next time!
