Hyperstacks 0.6.0 & 0.6.1

Hello! here we came to show you new info about the development progress of Hyperstacks!
This new update 0.6.0 Brings new powerful features and 0.6.1 fixes lot of bugs and shows a revamped weapon!

This is what the update brings to the game:

  • [h2]Item/weapon placing in levels[/h2]
    Yeah now you can place weapons, bombs, and other equipables in your levels

  • [h2]New level settings menu[/h2]
    A new menu has been added in your right hand
    this new menu adds the following level settings:
    • Start Unarmed
    • Starting level music
    • Hide phantom
    • Level colors


  • [h2]Inventory clearing option for levels[/h2]
    Finally, you can create a level where you start unarmed, being able to create better challenges for other players or exploit an Item mechanic

  • [h2]Phantom Hiding (per level)[/h2]
    No more player phantoms spoiling how the level is played!
    You can now configure your level to not show the World Record gameplay phantom

  • [h2]MORE COLOURS!![/h2]
    Give more originality and better ambient to your levels using the new level colour palette!
    in the new menu, you have access to some premade color palettes for the levels but you can even do your own colour combination

  • [h2]Slopes (Level Editor Item)[/h2]
    Slopes make it easier for enemies and you to move vertically

  • [h2]Single Wall Tile (Level Editor Item)[/h2]
    Its time to make rooms inside rooms with these new slim walls


  • [h2]The AI has been slightly improved[/h2]
    Enemies can recalculate the paths when something in the level as changed
    that means you can activate a bridge and enemies will identify it as a possible new path to get the player

    That also solves a bug where enemies couldn't walk through disabled green doors





[h3]This update also came with some bugs that were fixed in 0.6.1[/h3]



What's also new in 0.6.1?


This new patch is more a bug-fix update, but it also comes with a whole revamped weapon and a bit more redesign for the game getting rid of those annoying cubic designs and ugly planes with textures

[h3]Experimental Settings[/h3]
  • Fast Load:
    This new option can be found in Experimental Settings and enables the level to load everything in a single frame, freezing the game while loading but making the load much faster for large levels, it isn't noticeable in small levels.
    (due to the compositor switch during the freeze it may blink so this option is not recommended if you are prone to epileptic seizures)


[h2]BUG FIXES[/h2]
  • Fixed a bug where spawned Melee weapons in level editor didn't work
  • Fixed a problem where the bomb can not be correctly thrown because of the hand collision
  • Fixed a bug where enemies in the tutorial level were not reacting and clipping through walls
  • Fixed a bug that makes the Bow-ish weapon to damage yourself
  • Fixed a bug where the starting orb weapon wasn't moving properly (is not stick on your hand anymore)
  • Fixed a bug where the orb weapon displaces the menu
  • Fixed a bug where the bombs were not showing in the inventory

BugFix Patch 0.5.2

  • The menu didn't follow you causing soft locks in some situations
  • has been solved a bug with jump pads where the jump force was not consistent on loading
  • has been fixed a bug where the XML importing was not working properly
  • Has been solved a bug where the FPS Graph visualizer option didn't work
  • has been solved a bug where clicking connect in the multiplayer menu didn't work




  • level selector menu has been changed a bit
  • lobby big purple wall has been removed and changed by a slightly less eye-hurting sign
  • has been added the menu to the level editor Play Mode Character
    this enables multiplayer connection inside the level editor
    this doesn't sync the levels yet, so you need to send your friends your .Hyperlevel file

Hyperstacks 0.5.1

[h3]A brand new hand menu![/h3]
  • Gameplay Settings
    • The ability to change the snap turning angle
    • An option allowing you to disable music

    • Enable/disable bHaptics support (Expected next week to be full operative)
  • Return to lobby/editor button
  • Go to editor button is now also in the menu and takes you to the Level Editor!




[h2]New login system[/h2]

  • Level Editor Improvements
    • Most items can now be rotated
    • The level editor now has grid size options
      • In the right inventory menu you have 2 buttons each one for setting a different positional and rotational grid level. This allows for more customization in levels
    • You can now import XML levels by modifying the generated XML when saving a level!
  • General Improvement
    • A new character model has been added! (as part of the game incremental redesign)
    • Performance has been slightly improved for Quest in this version due to a change in the stereoscopic rendering mode
    • Oculus Quest is using Phase sync now so you may notice an improvement with the tracking latency in-game




[h2]Wait… Multiplayer?[/h2]
That’s right! Hyperstacks is getting multiplayer!
The current implementation of multiplayer is unfinished and most importantly... EXPERIMENTAL!
Don't expect it to work very well right now.
You can connect to a default room by just pressing connect in the hand menu (experimental > join multiplayer room > connect)
or you can specify an ID to create/join a room with friends



[h2]XML importing? What’s that?[/h2]
XML importing enables you to be even more creative with your level designs by allowing you to escape the boundaries of the level editor! An example of what this allows is for example:
  • changing text colour (using ) or font scale (using ) in text signs,
  • Add items by text
  • Avoid some level editor restrictions
  • Other things that escape my knowledge
  • Use it wisely you have great power in your hand now!




[h3]Miscellaneous Changes[/h3]
  • Experimental Multiplayer now has Nametags!
  • Removal of Halloween themed things
    there isn’t a non-Halloween model for bombs right now sorry, I have not enough time for modeling yet
    saws still appearing in the editor item menu with the Halloween skin this has to be fixed yet






SPOOKY UPDATE



Halloween is almost here and so is one of the largest updates Hyperstacks has ever seen!

Glide on the grinding bars, dodge new obstacles and infuse your levels with higher levels of logic with the multitude of items added!







Slide on these laser strings and reach higher levels of speed never seen before in Hyperstacks!
Master the acceleration with your climbing skills and give your levels that sweet grind satisfaction!







Are you one of these people that love to make functional computers inside games?
Well, good news for you! Logic gates are your thing!

These strange things that only a rocket scientist can understand are made to create custom logic in Hyperstacks! This and the improved repeaters, which can be configured with different delay levels, are a great addition to logic in Hyperstacks.



Create automatic systems, unbreakable clocks, and more complex systems, since there is no delay you can make it as complex as you want!
but don't forget to share your creations in our Discord server!






Need some of that ancient temple feeling on your level?
The new retractable spikes are just for you! Put them on a surface and see if you can trigger them at the perfect time to make some players into skewers!

The ultimate snack for level creators!







These bombs have a super explosive temperament, so don't hurt their feelings and give him some space or KABOOM!
  • They come with a new type of block that only their explosion can break!

But that doesn't damage them…

Yay! Well YouTubers and streamers, it's time to create some sweet Hyperstacks content!





  • The lobby robot phrases have been updated for halloween.

  • The lobby robot has a hat now!

  • Mini decorative bombs have been added to the level editor, you can throw them!

  • Saws and Bombs skins have been changed for Halloween.

  • The lobby is growing, now it shows new places in development and new NPCs.

  • The high-speed sound effect has been made quieter as to not break your eardrums.

  • Lobby news panel (just the panel, it will be working on coming patches).

  • You can now change the repeater delay.

  • Now there is a sound when collecting coins.

  • Level editor interfaces are now visible, even behind walls.

  • Haptic feedback has been improved, you can now feel so much more!

  • Climbing has been made easier, now you have a longer window of time to grab a neon!

  • The player’s hitbox has been shrunken, meaning it is now easier to dodge bullets and harder to accidentally hit walls while climbing.



  • [h3]Cannon Guy[/h3]
    • Knockback resistance has been doubled from 20 to 40.
    • HP Decreased from 20 to 15.
    • Attack range decreased from 8m to 5.57m.
  • [h3]Turrets[/h3]
    • Bullet speed has been decreased from 7 to 5.
  • [h3]Melee Enemy[/h3]
    • Now it uses an approaching animation, which makes it harder to hit it with ranged attacks.
    • It can be stunned now only when attacks are blocked.
  • [h2]General[/h2]
    • All enemies now receive damage from traps!




Breaking improvements are changes that may break previous levels made using the level editor, changes like this are to be expected due to the fact that Hyperstacks is still in alpha.

  • The base of the turrets now automatically snap to the ground and the positioning dot in the level editor now positions the head. This will make it easier to place turrets correctly, no more floating turrets!
    • What to do about this change: All current maps with turrets should be edited to move them, their head will appear where the spawn ball is instead.




  • Accidentally clipping through walls is way harder.

  • When Link nodes are destroyed their order saved incorrectly causing a wire mesh when loading.

  • When entering play mode in the level editor, the build mode doesn’t keep destroying walls now.

  • The pointer doesn't lose precision when the editor is zoomed completely out anymore.

  • The jump pad ball is now moveable with the configuration menu arrow.

  • Having more than one wave active and completing one no longer changes the state of the level to non-combat until you beat all other waves.

  • Sword sound doesn’t go crazy anymore.

  • Now the top half of the platform can not be moved with a weapon.

  • Now weapons don’t go crazy inside green blocks.

    [h3]New level editor item: Green-Link Repeater![/h3]
    It repeats signals with 1 second of delay. You can use it to do some cool logic, clocks, activation locks and probably more things I haven't tried yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    You can now warn players of your level, or just tell them something about it!
    You could alsowrite a long story on them... but no one would want to read it!



    [h3]Added a leaderboard to all custom levels![/h3]
    Challenge your friends to beat your score on every level!
    Then cry because they beat you!


    [h3]Added a play count to custom levels![/h3]
    You can now see how many times a level has been played on the level selector info panel!


    [h3]You can now order levels by play count![/h3]
    I think the title is self-descriptive enough so just that!


    [h3]Changes in the Big-Ball-Gun weapon[/h3]
    The model had been replaced for a Megaman-like cannon model
    Also, the bullets have been nerfed, now its range has been decreased, it no longer bounces and only does half damage now.


    [h3]Adjusted the timing of the level voting buttons! [/h3]
    Now it’s harder to accidentally vote the wrong way!


    [h3]Added visual feedback to activated triggers![/h3]
    Now you can see if you have already activated it!


    [h3]Decreased the grid size for link nodes. [/h3]
    You now have more precision moving link nodes!
    Finally, you can move them closer to the walls without introducing them to the walls!


    [h3]The level editor tutorial window no longer spawns automatically.[/h3]
    Now a SUPER annoying sound plays in a button on your left-hand menu until you click it
    or you quit the game! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
    When you open it the sound no longer plays and now shows the level editor in-game guide.
    highlighting the sections you didn't see yet!


    [h3]Added a button to disable post-processing [/h3](use this if you have performance issues, this has been specifically done for the Oculus Quest version of the game).


    [h3]Fixed a bug [/h3]
    it was causing the screen to quickly flash during the transition between levels.
