Nigate Tale V0.2.02_0903 Update

Hey Gamers, you will soon get the V0.2.02_0903 update, and here’s what you got in our latest version:

  • Bug Fix: Fix a bug which have FX after Mutant monster "Volt" dead
  • Bug Fix: Fix a bug which keep having FX when you meet Mutant Monster "Volt"
  • Bug Fix: Fix a bug which in Hard Mode, Pufferfish don't include Vigor system
  • Bug Fix: Fix a bug which Monster Girl Ultimate, Obliterate!! Can't be used in some cases

Nigate Tale V0.2 Update

[h2]1. Brand New Vigor System[/h2]

Over the past weeks, we have been collecting lots of useful feedback about ranged and melee weapons. In its current version, ranged weapons are overpowered, which makes melee weapons look weak in comparison. To solve this balance problem (especially sensible when you fight elite monsters and bosses), we designed and implemented the Vigor System. Basically, you have to hit them to drop their Vigor, and when it reaches 0 they gain the Broken status. That, in turn, makes them temporarily vulnerable to melee weapons.

1. Monsters with Vigor are invulnerable until you empty their Vigor bar, just like if it was a shield 100% effective against all kinds of attacks.
2. You can reduce monsters' Vigor by using weapons (both ranged and melee) and traps, but melee weapons are the most effective.
3. When Vigor drops to zero, a monster becomes Broken. A Broken monster cannot move, so it always takes critical damage.
4. When a monster recovers from its Broken status, it becomes more aggressive for a limited time during which its Vigor cannot be reduced.

[h2]2. Mutant Monsters are coming![/h2]

In Nigate Tale V0.2, we will also introduce a new category of special enemies: the Mutant Monsters! You will meet these creatures randomly here and there. These are all the kinds of Mutant Monsters you can find:

1. Healer: heals nearby enemies by using the Healing Chain Skill (cannot heal themselves).
2. Volt: creates an Electrified Area that causes damage to the player.
3. Binder: creates stun trap areas.
4. Glutton: randomly drops bombs or cheese portions, so it can be dangerous but also help you recover some HP!
5. Cursed: becomes an unbeatable ghost after being defeated. It will attack you until you leave the room.
6. Ascetic: when this one dies, it will heal all the other monsters in the room to their max HP.
7. Matrix: summons three conveyors around you, which will teleport you away to different positions on the map.
8. Echo: summons multiple shadows, but these disappear when you kill the monster.
9. Runner: runs very, very fast -- no point in trying to run away from it!

[h2]3. Balance and QoL adjustments [/h2]

[h3]Battle:[/h3]
1. All weapons: basic damage increased. All weapons have the same 10% Basic Critical Strike Chance now, which triples the basic damage.
2. Wrench: Fixed a bug that makes Magic Core Whirlwind Combo three times higher damage frequency.
3. Shotgun: we adjusted the Magic Core Compound Reload from 8 to 4 additional bullets.
4. Shotgun: we adjust the Magic Core Rapid Reload from 10 to 6 bullets.
5. Stun: Now, players won't be stunned so often − but some skills still can stun you, so be careful!
6. Roll: the invulnerability window is longer now (the time which enemies cannot hurt you while you roll)
7. Weapon: We adjusted the Attacking Anime for Hammer and Sword.

[h3]Blessings:[/h3]

1. Circe: We dropped the rolling damage for the Shadow.
2. Mayonna: We adjusted the Freeze damage for Mayonna. Now you can do more damage with her blessing.

[h3]Monsters:[/h3]

1. Goblin Shield Soldier: HP increased.
2. Goblin Weeder: Their moving speed is slower now, but they can knock you further than before.
3. Goblin Butcher: Their Ghost lasts a shorter time now.
4. Magic Frog: We adjusted their magic, so you can now have more time to dodge.
5. Cerberus/Demon Dog: After a few changes in their AI, these good bois are smarter now.
6. Lost Warrior: They're now stronger and faster.
7. Scarecrow: When a Scarecrow dies, the ghost on the map should disappear.
8. Deathly Saluter: We made some changes on their Aggro, and we changed the Effect for a better look.
9. We also adjusted the skill for Lance, Bill, Oggs the Lobster Guard, Albert Beelzebub, Kura the Lifestealer and Baphomet. Please check it out in the game!

[h3]Talents (comparing Before vs After recent changes)[/h3]

1. Charge: until now, this talent gave you a 10% chance to complete the Recharge immediately (the Cooldown Time is 3 minutes) after using a Monster fatality there was a. Now, after you use your Monster Ultimate attack, you will enter the Critical status and inflict only Critical Strikes for a short period of time (3, 4 or 6 seconds).
2. Rapid: up until now, this talent reduced the Cooldown Time of your Pet's Ultimate by 10%. Now, defeating enemies charges your Monster Ultimate for an additional amount (in a 2%, 4%, 6%).
3. Sense: after using a Monster Fatality, there was a 30% chance that the Pet immediately uses its Ultimate attack freely. Now, receiving damage charges your Monster Ultimate (from 1% to 3%).
4. Modified Defensive Algorithm: every time you receive damage, there was a 2% chance of being immune to this damage. Now when you are attacked by nearby threats, you have a chance (3%, 6% or 9 %) to Dodge the attack.
5. Modified Assault Algorithm: before, defeating the enemy would sometimes (10%) heal 1 point of HP. Now it increases your damage output (5/10/15 %) when there are no enemies around you.
6. Legacy of the Forerunner: before, at the end of the game you got 10 additional Monster Crystals for every level you had cleared. Now you get more Gold (10/20/30 %) out of a Gold Bag.
7. Free Cake becomes Cake of Charisma: when obtaining Monster Crystals, there was a 10% chance of receiving an additional Meteorite Fragment. Now whenever you get a Magic Cake you increase your Max HP (5/10/15).
8. Free Crystal becomes Meteor of Value: When obtaining Monster Crystals, there was a 10% chance of getting an additional Meteorite Fragment. Now It grants you some Gold (20/40/60) whenever you get a Meteorite Fragment.
9. After this update, your Talents will be reset -- but we will keep the Monster Crystal you spend and give them back to you.

[h3]Tarot Cards:[/h3]
1. Moon: before, there was a 30% chance that 0 Energy was consumed when you unleash an Ultimate attack, and the Cooldown Time was 120 seconds. Now, Ultimate attacks are free, but their cooldown time is 300 seconds.
2. Trail: before, it increased the HP regeneration of any Respawn effect by 100% but reduced max HP by 30%. Now the HP Regeneration of any Respawn effect is increased to 100%, but Max HP is reduced by 20%.

Circe: now Summons only 1 Shadow.

[h3]For Fatality:[/h3]
1. Circe: Void Plane lasts shorter.
2. Mayonna: Entangling Touch lasts shorter.

[h3]Levels:[/h3]
1. We adjusted the maps and made some of them more spacious to make battles more enjoyable.
2. We adjust the Monster choice for some maps to make you have a better battle experience.
3. New maps are coming! We will tell you more about this very soon.

Having a good time with Hermit Games

Hello everyone, our unexpected heroes!

Today we bring a special update related to the event on Discord last Thursday. As many of you already know, Hermit Games and 2P Games celebrated their first community Q&A. Totoro, the producer of Nigate Tale, represented the games studio, and Steven Zeng came in behalf of 2P Games to assist Totoro. Together, they replied to several questions of the players about the future of Nigate Tale.

The conversation began by discussing Totoro’s background before joining Hermit Games two years ago. Like other studio members, he was working in the anime industry – to be more specific, he was an animation director. Switching to games development was hard at the beginning for him, since telling a story through a game is more complicated than doing it through a non-interactive product.

With the knowledge they gathered thanks to these years of experience in anime, and seeking to pursue their own ambitions, the members of Hermit Games decided to create an adventure in a new world of fantasy and mysteries. They soon discovered that creating good animations for a video game is as hard as beating enemies in a roguelike. Half-jokingly, they decided to honor this idea naming the game Nigate Tale – because “nigate” means being bad at something in Japanese!

Also, we chatted about Totoro’s favorite development stage, character creation, and how hard it is to change things without upsetting the balance of the game. Since they must ensure the gameplay is always fun and nerve-wracking, each new update (character, weapon, blessing) requires countless tweaks and adjustments to get the balance right.

In this regard, Totoro asked the fans to be patient about the new content the game will get in the following months. As of now, the studio is covering several fronts at the same time. They are developing the fourth level of the game, completing the friendship system with more levels and substories, and improving the English and Japanese localization of the game.

But there’s more to come! Totoro and Steven Zeng from 2P Games confirmed that there will be a console version of the game. When? “In the near future”. We’ll have to wait to learn more details! Also, Hermit Games is interested in adding a hard mode and additional bosses for those players looking for a bigger challenge, and localizing the game into other languages.

It was a remarkably interesting conversation that we can’t wait to repeat with other members of Hermit Games! Dev Blog #2 - Creating the friendship system

Hello everyone!

After a busy month, we’re back to tell you more about the development of Nigate Tale. In our first dev blog, you met our lead artist and discovered the secrets of Hermit Games’ character design process. Today, it is time to talk about a feature you’ve been asking us about many times: the friendship system!

Funny enough, at the beginning of this project, the idea of including monster girls didn’t exist. In 2019, our team ran a little research on Weibo, a Chinese Twitter-like service, where our fans told us how their ideal monster partner would be in an isekai adventure like Nigate Tale.

Nearly 80% of the partner designs we received from the lead designer were female monsters, so with his help and what our fans had to say, we finally had our first group of companions! And here comes a fun story: Asa was originally a male partner, but she became a girl after building the 3D model for the game.

After that revelation, we conceived Nigate Tale as a mix of roguelite game and light bishōjo game. If you’re not familiar with the second concept, bishōjo games (also known as galge) are a subgenre of dating sims that revolve around developing a relationship with cute girls.

Depending on your decision, this relationship can be a strong friendship or a romance. These games were a trend in the 90s, but there are still a lot of people around the world who enjoy galge titles on their PCs and consoles.



So back to the idea of the game, that’s where the friendship system came from! But instead of just growing your relationship with them through dialogue decisions, the main character must bring them presents. Concretely, there is a special cake which was exclusive for the aristocrats that they all love.

Every time you find a piece, you can go back to the nexus and give it to one of the girls you already met. Then, in exchange, you get something called “blessings” and unlock fragments of their background stories. These are probably new for you, and that’s because you can only unlock their companion forms in the current version of the game and reach level 3 of the relationship… but there’s more to come this year.
