[New Character] Adriana Concept Art!

So I found the owner of the gem thing. It belongs to none other than the hottest girl on Lumia Island, Adriana. I think she must've been in the parking lot stealing the gas from my car...

Adriana, the Inferno, will turn up the heat on Lumia Island sometime during Early Access. She’s got her flamethrower on her hip, likely ready to fry up the other test subjects. She hasn’t, nor will she ever, forget about her sister - she’s even got a reminder on her (rather torn up) pants!

There’s more Adriana to come! Pop in to the Official Discord so you don’t miss a thing.

Minor Patch - 0.16.3 (2020.09.16)

Hey everyone, Aesop here with some quick adjustments and changes for a couple things. We’ve added some reasoning behind some of the changes as well. We might still be lacking a bit of context, but we're always trying to improve, so we ask for your understanding going forward.
Character
Three modes require different focuses and specialties per character and it makes it harder to balance. Each mode has its own playstyle and fun, and the number of players in each mode keeps growing. The proportion of players in each mode is pretty even, so we are trying to keep equal priority when it comes to balancing.
However, this is a long process as there are many elements affected by balancing. We’ve kept a max of 15% balance adjustment allowed in each mode -- some characters are getting close to this maximum. We will prepare balance measures other than these mode adjustments for future updates.
Spotlight - Isol
• Instead of weakening the synergy between Semtex Bomb (Q) and Rebel Assault (W), we want to improve the balance between pistols and assault rifles by strengthening synergy of normal attacks with assault rifles and Semtex Bomb.
  • Although you can increase the effects of Semtex Bomb using normal attacks of the assault rifles, the synergy between Semtex Bomb and Rebel Assault with pistols results in less than ideal interactions.
  • Damage dealt in Squad mode 93% —> 90%
  • Semtex Bomb (Q)
    • Additional effects that were applied only to the first bullet of the assault rifle’s three round burst are now applied to all 3 bullets.
    • Additional effects when hitting an enemy
      • Timer of explosion reduced by 1s —> 0.5s
      • Extra damage 10/16/22/28/34 —> 8/12/16/20/24
      • Extra damage attack power ratio 0.4 —> 0.3
  • Rebel Assault (W)
    • Movement speed reduction 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% —> fixed at 15%
    • Number of attacks: 5 → 4
    • Attacks every 0.5s → 0.66s
  • Camouflage (E)
    • Movement speed increase [REMOVED]
Li Dailin
• Drink Up (W) - Skill Damage reduction 25% —> 15%
  • Spirited Kick (Q) cooldown 9s → 10s
Xiukai
• Damage dealt in Squad mode 100% —> 95%
Sissela
• Damage dealt in Duo mode 95% —> 90%
  • Damage dealt in Squad mode 92% —> 90%
  • Play With Us! (E) will not exceed the maximum range of 5m, even when using Go Get ‘Em Wilson! (Q)
Aya
• Damage dealt in Duo mode 95% —> 92%
  • Damage dealt in Squad mode 90% —> 86%
Jackie
• Damage received in Squad mode 97% —> 95%
  • Defense per level 1.9 —> 2.1
Hyunwoo
• First Attack (E) knockback range 5m —> 3.5m
Equipment
• The highest tier of items are usually exponentially more efficient than the lower tiers. Two-handed swords have received an overall buff, but we would also like to experiment with two-handed swords, dual swords, and bats in order to improve the efficiency of mid-level equipment.
  • Please understand that changing the location or recipes for materials requires a lot of preparation, and it is being carried out slowly.
Pistol
• Moving Reload (D)
  • Cooldown 20/10s —> 30/20s
  • Elegance
  • Recipe changed: FN57 + White Powder —> FN57 + Feather Duster
Sniper Rifle
• Intervention
    • Attack Power 120 —> 110
    • Increased range 2m → 1m
  • Railgun, Polaris
    • Vision Range 2.5m → 2m
Rapier
• Durendal Mk2
  • Vision Range 4 —> 3m
Glove
• Tonfa has a high win rate, but a low kill rate, so LP is rarely affected. We are adjusting glove weapons as Hyunwoo (high win rate) and Li Dailin (high pick rate) are both slightly above top-tier according to data.
  • Bloodwing Knuckles
    • HP 400 —> 300
  • Divine Fist
    • Extra Damage to Normal Attacks 38 —> 33
  • White Claw Punch
    • Critical Strike Chance 25% —> 20%

Update adjustments & Open Beta Extension

Hello everyone, Eternal Return team here with a scheduling adjustment and some news for the future.

Our update for post matchmaking character selection + no duplicate characters was scheduled for release tomorrow, but it has been pushed back one week.
We are very sorry for the delay.

There will still be a minor patch tomorrow as planned, but it will not include this particular feature.
In order to test and fix unexpected issues that may appear, we will extend the Open Beta for one more week.
The Open Beta will now end September 30th.

We still have many concerns regarding the Early Access release of Eternal Return as this will be our first experience with it.
We are particularly concerned about the billing system as there are a lot of requirements to meet, as well as setting up an entire refund system, which makes it a big project in itself.
Transferring all data from the Open Beta demo version to the official client will also be a big project that we are trying to make as smooth as possible.

Naturally, there are a lot of new features that are necessary to have by Early Access.
Although experienced players like to test out new Saved Plans and builds, casual and new players have expressed that Saved Plans can be a more confusing obstacle to overcome.
Due to this, the implementation of a feature allowing players to adopt multiple Saved Plans created by other players seems essential.

We are also lucky enough to have several people streaming Eternal Return, highlighting the urgency of a spectator feature.

Both the Demo (Open Beta) and Early Access are internal systems that rely on Steam.
There are very few examples of Demo versions of Free-to-Play games on Steam, so there are many elements that require consultation or permission from Steam themselves.
Due to the situation in North America, the aforementioned consultation process has slowed.

Our development team wants to extend the Open Beta more than anyone else.

We will notify you if an additional extension is possible after September 30th, depending on the development progress and consultation with Steam.

Unfortunately, we cannot implement bug fixes and new features during the extended period.

We will keep working hard to bring you the best version of Eternal Return possible. Thank you for reading.
