Sorry, Re-Logic isn't teasing Terraria 2, it's just 'good fun' banter with fans

Terraria 2 was announced way back in 2013, although creator Andrew "Redigit" Spinks warned at the time that it was still "a ways out." He really wasn't kidding. A lot has happened since then—a spinoff game was announced, then cancelled, then maybe uncancelled, all while work on the original Terraria continued—but of Terraria 2, there has been no sign...

Re-Logic is trolling us with Terraria 2 teasers

It seems that nothing will stop Terraria from continuing to be updated - except maybe a sequel. To be clear, Terraria 2 has absolutely not yet been announced, but the devs are absolutely teasing its existence. A couple of knowing nods already have fans eagerly speculating on the possibilities.

Terraria creator Andrew 'Redigit' Spinks recently updated the location in his Twitter bio to say "Terraria 2 - a new age". Prolific Terraria YouTuber Chippy quickly picked up on the change, and fellow Terraria dev Whitney 'Cenx' Spinks dropped a Doctor Who gif warning of "spoilers", and adds that "Red is a massive troll. I wouldn't trust it. Or would I?" (And also made a Twitter bio change teasing "Terraria 2.5 the Final Update".)

So while Terraria 2 is still as-yet-unconfirmed, the devs are definitely willing to let us all go wild with speculation on its existence. After publishing about four final updates for the original, I can't imagine there's any better way to reveal a sequel to the world than by trolling everyone on Twitter.

Terraria has yet another update coming, those filthy liars

In May 2020, the makers of Terraria released its final major update, appropriately named Journey's End. Then they followed it up with the Journey's Actual End update a few months after that. Then a Don't Starve crossover update last year. They're filthy rotten liars, I'm saying, and what wonderful liars. They've now announced another upcoming update, named Labor Of Love after the Steam Award they won for their ongoing support. Fair does!

Seems we're getting another big Terraria update soon

Re-Logic clearly aren't done with Terraria, even with them previously saying they were. Liars! But we'll totally forgive them of course because we love Terraria.

The Terraria devs lied, thankfully - update 1.4.4 is coming

I'm never happier about a broken promise than when it comes from the Terraria devs. After the Journey's End update (and then the Journey's Actual End update) promised a conclusion to official support for the game, the devs went and did a Don't Starve crossover. Now they've announced yet another major patch on the way.

Terraria's 1.4.4 patch is called the 'Labor of Love Update', a response to fans voting the game up for the similarly-named Steam award. A reveal video from YouTuber Chippy confirms that the new update will be focused primarily on balance changes, not new content - though a few surprise new items are planned for the release.

One of those new items has been revealed early, however: Resplendent Dessert will allow you to summon both slime pets simultaneously. Among the balance changes, melee weapons like Dark Lance, Frostbrand, Flairon, Scourge of the Corruptor, Star Wrath are all getting buffed, and there've been a pile of quality-of-life changes, too.
