Eastern Roman Empire - Create New Theme

[p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Bilibili[/p][p][/p][p]Hello generals of the Eastern Roman Empire, today we are updating some follow-up functions of the military districts (themes).[/p][p]
[/p][p]I have added two entrances to the military district interface. One is via vassals, and the other is via the national territory tab at the top.[/p][p]
[/p][p]The emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire can establish new military districts (themes) to avoid having too many tax officials directly under their control.[/p][p]
[/p][p]This helps prevent tax revenue loss. Indeed, there is an upper limit on the number of tax officials the emperor can appoint.
The new general must be a retired officer who has served in the military.
If the emperor appoints a general with low merit, all officers with higher merit will have their relations with the emperor reduced.
This list has been sorted according to the level of merit.[/p][p]
[/p][p]When the emperor transfers direct territories and tax officials to a general, a new military district (theme) is established.
Newly established military districts (themes) have no standing troops initially, which the emperor must personally address.
As emperor, you can order generals to form military district infantry and garrison forces.
However, all funding is provided by the emperor. Military district infantry are replenished by free farmers...[/p][p]
[/p][p]while garrison forces are replenished by serfs. They can only participate in defensive wars and cannot invade other territories...[/p][p]
[/p][p]As emperor, you can also expand the territorial scope of military districts (themes) in later stages.
Additionally, several minor functions have been added...[/p][p]
[/p][p]A grain transportation function has been added to fiefdoms, allowing grain to be transported to the capital, or vice versa. Of course, there will be losses during transportation.
A small function to search for families and characters has also been added, making it easier for everyone to find the characters and families they wish to learn about.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Development progress remains slow. The folder for civilian official functions has not been created, and fragmented functions of the military district system are still incomplete.
It is expected to resume at the start of next week when this week ends. See you next week![/p]

Eastern Roman Empire - The Silk Road

Video-bilibili

Hello, lords! Today, let's introduce something new - the Silk Road.

Since the map is not yet fully completed, the starting point will be Edessa.

The newly created interface displays the routes of the Silk Road and the caravan markers on the large map.

If there are currently no caravans, a monthly check will be conducted to see if any appear at the starting point.

The probability of caravans appearing is influenced by the knight and citizen populations in all territories along the entire route. The larger the population, the higher the probability of their appearance.

Meanwhile, the probability will also be reduced by wars and plagues.

When a caravan appears, the lord who owns this fiefdom, or the character who owns a Silk Exchange (private estate), will immediately receive an income. The fief lord will obtain trade taxes, while characters who own a Silk Exchange will receive a base income plus dynamic income based on the population.

The more the population, the more gold coins the characters with Silk Exchanges will obtain.

The greater the number of Silk Exchanges, the more it influences whether caravans will continue to stay in this territory for trade.

In this territory, the number of Silk Exchanges owned by all characters determines the probability of caravans staying.

Caravans will attempt to move to the next territory every month. If they fail to move and stay local, they will generate trade taxes again for the local lord and each character who owns a Silk Exchange.

Therefore, try to make the caravan stay in the territory for as many months as possible to earn more money.

When the caravan arrives in Constantinople, it will decide whether to continue staying there or return to the East (and disappear). Once a caravan disappears, a monthly check will continue to see if a new caravan appears.

Please note that after a caravan arrives in a fiefdom, while it brings economic income and population growth, it will also trigger an additional plague judgment.

So, it's up to you, lords, to choose between wealth and safety!

东罗马帝国军区制 以及 延期更新

东罗马帝国军区制的视频日志
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Generals of the empire do not inherit their positions through paternal succession like feudal kingdoms in Europe. Instead, they must be personally appointed by the emperor, who maintains a pool of reserve officials. All characters who have served in the military will be included in this pool, provided they possess certain traits: former centurion, former treasurer, former standard-bearer, or former brigade commander. Yes, as long as one has served as a centurion and accumulated a certain amount of merit, they can qualify to become a military district general after retirement. Of course, they can also continue to rise through the ranks in the Central Brigade.

In the reserve official pool, officials are ranked by their merit. When automatic appointment is enabled, upon the death of a military district general, the top-ranked reserve official will automatically be appointed as the new general. Here, whether you are the emperor, a military district general, or a family member, you can use your funds to financially support a character, increasing their merit and thus improving their rank.

In the Central Brigade, the centurion is the lowest-ranking officer, requiring the officer to be at least 20 years old. During their service, after accumulating a certain amount of merit, they can be appointed to higher positions such as treasurer or standard-bearer. If they choose to retire, they will gain the trait "former XX" corresponding to their official position, which serves as qualification for future re-activation or direct promotion to higher military ranks.

After organizing the military positions, development will proceed to the Silk Road and civilian officials.

Due to the relatively complex functional mechanisms of the Eastern Roman Empire, which completely conflict with European feudal systems, a full re-development is required. As a result, the update cycle will inevitably be delayed, and a postponement is unavoidable. Additionally, we are more concerned that the bugs in the imperial mechanisms need to be fully retested, which will take additional time. The original plan to release the update in May is now unfeasible, and the preliminary estimate is a postponement to the end of July.

Therefore, for players who have not yet purchased the game, if you are interested in my game, please wait a little longer and consider purchasing after the update. Although the game's price will be adjusted in the later stage, there will definitely be a discount during the first week of the update. Adding it to your wishlist now is the greatest support for me!

Thank you, all lords and masters!!
