Blacklist Brigade - Version 1.0 Pre-Release Update Patch Notes

[h2]1.0 Pre-Release Update Patch Notes[/h2]

This update adds a new Merciless difficulty level that offers a decent challenge for maxed out characters. Also fixes a bug that caused the lower difficulty levels to be much harder than originally intended, so the game should be a bit less brutal for new players.

The game is now pretty close to 1.0 final release. The next update is coming when leaving Early Access in July. I will set the launch date when I have the new trailer ready.

[h3]Difficulty: [/h3]
  • Added a new Merciless difficulty. Should offer a decent challenge for players with maxed out characters.
  • Added a new achievement for completing the new difficulty level.
  • Fixed a bug that caused enemies to shoot too accurately in most situations. This made especially lower difficulty levels much harder than originally in early versions.
  • Added some additional bullet spread when enemies try to shoot moving targets.
  • Added mission failed exp reward up to 50% of completed exp. Based on how many enemies killed of total.
  • Friendly fire is now: easy 25%, normal 33% and 50% for all harder difficulties.

[h3]Characters' Skills/Abilities:[/h3]
  • Dexter's Explosives Awareness ability renamed to Danger Awareness. It also gives now 5% increased change to dodge.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Dexter Booby Trap sometimes deal lower damage than it should or no damage at all.
  • Boody Trap also stuns enemies for 3.5 seconds.
  • Totally changed Razor's Spotter ability. It gives now additional 5% critical hit chance for all team members (including self) who shoot enemies that Razor has line of sight.
  • Bishop's Leading by Example was giving also +10% to melee and knife damage, even not mentioned in ability description -> REMOVED.
  • Enemy turrets captured with Jinx's Hacking ability have now 2x health boost instead of 1.5x.
  • Explosives skill gives now +3% to radius per skill level instead of 5%. Max 15% instead of 25%.

[h3]AI teammates:[/h3]
  • Added critical hit chance to AI teammates' weapons (~3% boost to overall damage).
  • AI teammates will no longer crouch while the player is crouched if they need to avoid grenades or other hazards.
  • AI Teammates are now getting into full cover when armor is low and staying there until armor regenerated back to full.
  • Fixed a bug that caused AI teammates sometimes have -1 First Aid Kits, and after that they were unable to pick and use First Aid Kits at all.
  • Fixed a bug that caused AI teammates sometimes try to shoot through objects that can't be shot through.

[h3]Enemies:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused armor points of elite enemies not regenerate past 100 armor points on higher difficulties.
  • Difficulty levels now affect the armor regeneration rate of elite enemies.
  • Enemies now take more damage to armor durability when hit (armor durability = point that armor regenerates back to if they are not killed).
  • Fixed a bug that caused enemy bullet tracers to not go through characters that dodged bullets with dodge skill. Also smokes were blocking enemy bullet tracers.

[h3]Weapons:[/h3]
  • Additional damage caused by a weapon's Armor Piercing trait is now applied only against armor points of an armored enemy.
  • Grenades and other explosives have now armor penetration so they are more useful against elite enemies on harder difficulties.
  • Extra Armor Piercing damage is not shown when Show Damage Numbers enabled.
  • Added critical hit chance to melee strikes and throwing knives. Surprise attack is considered as auto 2x crit. AI teammates can also crit with melee.
  • Fixed a bug that caused throwing knives deal less damage if recently run out of stamina while melee attacking (even after stamina was restored back to full).
  • A successful dodge against a enemy's shotgun shot dodges now all pellets of the shot or none.
  • Reduced molotov fire area radius from 4 to 3.6 meters.

[h3]Animations[/h3]
  • M10 submachine gun uses now same animations as Mini Uzi instead pistol ones (player only).

[h3]Menus:[/h3]
  • Mission End Screen has now increasing counters and progress bars with sound effects for exp and money.

[h3]Visual improvements:[/h3]
  • Night Vision is now better turning things to greenish tint. There were some items and effects that had yellow, blue or red tint even Night Vision was on.

[h3]Misc fixes and improvements:[/h3]
  • Added unspent skill points message showing in lobby menu chat if the player has available skill points (not shown when playing with gamepad).
  • Fixed a bug that disabled sniper rifles' auto crit feature if the player stood near a interactable door. Also gamepad aim assist didn't work in same situation.
  • Potentially fixed a bug that caused molotov flames textures to be blurry when first time loaded.
  • All ammo crates that had 2000 ammo points reduced to 1000 ammo points.
  • Potentially fixed a bug that caused enemies to plant two bombs to exact same spot in wave defense missions.
  • Villa mission is renamed to Villa Vibes.
  • Esc can be used to close skill tree without opening main menu in same press (when in mission, not in lobby map).
  • Some additional minor fixes and improvements

[h3]Visual improvements:[/h3]
  • New pretty nice looking grass that uses meshes instead of old plain flat grass material. Smoothly culled away when looking down from building tops. Some performance hit is expected with potato GPUs when lots of grass on screen. If the performance hit is too much, use Foliage Quality setting in the options menu to lower grass density and wheat field density in Unholy Alliance mission.
  • New HUGELY better looking water shader that has adjusted looks for diffent water types, so rivers, swimming pools, oceans, lakes, large fountains etc. looks a bit different. Water waves direction and heights are affected by wind. Also added water caustics effect for swimming pools and large fountains.
  • Cliffs looks much better now. Using meshes instead of just rock texture painted on landscape. In addition new rock material is better looking with some moss on top of rocks.
  • Lots of decorative work in key buildings and locations. Loads of new props to make the game look less boring. New pillars, curtains, destroyable vases, fireplaces with fire, flagpole with a flag waving in the wind (Turdavia has a flag now!), doors, solar panels, signs, posters, food items, misc small items, barbed wires, tank hedgehogs etc.
  • Added some stuff especially to improve the atmosphere of night missions, like neon signs, helipad landing lights, campfires and barrel fires.

[h3]New features:[/h3]
  • Exploding cars. All vehicles take damage and starts smoking when lightly damaged. Severely damaged vehicles starts burning and explodes after a timer runs out. Grenades and RPGs can blow vehicles instantly. Also heavy sniper instantly blows vehicles on critical hits. In addition to vehicles the large gasoline tank is explodable.
  • The player has now a 50% chance to die instantly without a possibility to be revived, when gets downed third time in a row without using First Aid Kit. The health/armor bars turns to grey when there is a chance to die instantly. Also white mist is shown on screen edges for a while to warn the player that the next time may be fatal. After being revived, there is a 5s safe time during which insta death chance is ignored. Also AI teammates can die instantly, so you see them using First Aid Kits. This means they are less likely to give their First Aid Kits to the player.
  • Circular directional hit indicator that shows directions from which the player was damaged. Indicator's scale and visibility is slighly altered based on damage strenght. This can be disabled in the options menu.
  • Added camera shake effects for weapon recoil, taking damage and explosions. The effect is scaled based on how powerful weapon you shoot, how much damage you take etc. Can be turned off in the options menu.
  • The health bar is now animated (pulsing at "heart rate") and heartbeat sound is played when on low health. Pumping faster based on how much health is below 50. The sound can be disabled in the options menu.
  • When shooting characters, bullet impact effect and sound is now different if damage is fully blocked by body armor.
  • Improved visibility (camera movement) to screen bottom direction. Camera moves ~2 meters more when ADS and ~1 meters more when not.
  • It's now a little bit darker inside buildings when lights are disabled (doesn't affect Night Vision). Below ground level floors gets even more darker.

[h3]Menus:[/h3]
  • Added two new background scenes that are displayed in the main menu randomly.
  • Added three new background images for map loading screen to randomize from.
  • Difficulty settings is now saved to savefile.
  • Lots of stuff were applied (to game instance not savefile) in the options menu even not pressing apply btn. Applied now only when btn is pressed.
  • Reduced difficulty setting text size in mission desc -> long mission names + very hard difficulty should not crop text anymore.
  • Weapons Selector should now scroll currently selected weapon into view when opened.
  • Weapons Selector shows currently selected weapon's stat when the cursor hovers out of widget (instead lastly hovered weapon's, can be used to compare weapons)

[h3]AI improvements:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused AI teammates potentially go to upper floor if move commanded them by clicking on wall instead floor.
  • Fixed an issue in Pause TM Command that caused AI teammates not move at all if set move location over some small item like a table or a crate.
  • Fixed a bug that caused molotov flames scare teammates who are on another floor.
  • AI characters can now start shooting through certain interior windows that has intact glass (not exterior wall windows).

[h3]Weapons:[/h3]
  • Weapon reload button works now even the player is shooting.
  • Characters ignited to flames by molotovs has an increased chance to flames go out faster after leaving molotov flame area. This also means that you see more enemies survive from molotovs.
  • Molotov flames and characters ignited to flames receive damage 0.5s intervals instead of 1.0s (DPS still same).
  • Fixed an issue that flames on characters ignited by molotovs were not correctly sync in multiplayer for clients (enemies in flames even the flames were already gone out in host side).
  • Using First Aid Kit removes burning damage effects on character.
  • Exploding fire extinguishers puts out flames from burning characters who are inside radius.

[h3]Sounds:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused footstep sounds not play when a character moves inside smoke.
  • Heavy Load: Added creaking ship structure sounds when inside the cargo ship.

[h3]Animations:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused vault animation not playing if melee striking just before.

[h3]Misc fixes and improvements:[/h3]
  • Increased Chemlight's collision size -> should be less likely to fall through floor and disappear.
  • TeamCommandArrow is now hidden when downed -> should fix a bug that it stays visible over spectator's ghost if died while the arrow was visible.
  • Endgame: Fixed a bug that caused dead enemies' ragdolls potentially bug in Parliament Building in corridors that has marble tiles.
  • Named all reach level achievements.
  • Weapon QualityLevel is clamped to max 10 (prevents potential save game edit cheating).
  • All skill levels are clamped to max 5 (prevents potential save game edit cheating).
  • Accepting Steam invite checks now that the player has entered name -> without name (and savefile) cannot be sucked to multiplayer game through Steam invite (potentially caused some issues).
  • Increased inventory item list size -> shows gas cans in Dexter's inventory
  • Explodable barrels leaves now burn marks to ground and walls.
  • Fixed chat widget visibility issues in mission end screen.
  • Chat widget can be now closed also by pressing ESC.
  • Fixed a bug that caused mouse cursor disappear after using chat widget in Pause TM Command.
  • Some additional minor fixes and improvements

Blacklist Brigade - Version 0.9.9 hotfix

Unfortunately 0.9.9 introduced a couple of pretty nasty bugs that needed to fixed instantly. Also fixed some other less severe issues, that may be older or also came in the last update.

[h2]0.9.9 hotfix notes[/h2]
[h3]Bug fixes:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused sleeping enemies in night missions to have a high probability to fell out of bed so badly they fell out of the map. This caused bugging in "clear all enemies in the area" -type objectives, since they just disappeared. So, there was a high chance that the player could not finish the mission. Warehouse Wars was one of them.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some issues in the keybindings if using other than default keybindings.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game crash when commanded Ai team to assault through a certain door(s). Found one, not sure if there were more of them, but all other similar issues should be fixed now.
  • Pausing the game pauses now also the smoke mortar bomb spawner in Warehouse Wars.
  • Fixed bugging in the Molotov flames that caused them sometimes be hidden even should be visible.
  • Fixed the smoke grenade to release smoke only when the grenade is on ground and not moving. Also fixed some visibility issues.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Dexter's C4 icon and text missing in the game controller item selection wheel. It was still possible to select C4:s from the empty slot.

Blacklist Brigade - Version 0.9.9 - New Mission Update!

  • Added a new mission, Warehouse Wars. Another wave defense mission. This time players defend a warehouse building against enemy attack.

[h3]New features:[/h3]
  • Added fire mode selector. Press B key to switch between fire modes if the weapon has multiple fire modes. On gamepad press RightStickButton while aiming down sights with LeftTrigger.
  • Smoke grenade's and fire extinguisher's smoke blocks now visibility between players and enemies. It also expands dynamically and should not go through walls as bad as before.
  • Sniper rifles deal guaranteed 2x crit if cursor is over an enemy 1.2s, the cursor color is changed to red when ready. The idea is that players are able to single shot kill unaware enemies with weaker damage sniper rifles.
  • Added 10 chemlights to player inventory. Press L key to drop.

[h3]Weapons:[/h3]
  • Added a bunch of new weapons:

    • M60E4 light machine gun
    • G36C carbine
    • M14 DMR marksman rifle
    • Mini Uzi submachine gun
    • M93R machine pistol
    • USP45 pistol
  • Fixed a bug that caused laser sight sometimes disappear even it was switched on.
  • Using a suppressor decreases now weapons' mobility value instead of damage and hip fire accuracy.
  • Max damage drop for submachine guns is now 50% instead of 25% (shotguns and pistol drop still to 25%).
  • Fixed a bug that caused "buy 15 weapons" achievement unlock when bought 10 weapons.
  • Some adjustments in weapons stats. Most notable, increased SPAS-12 fire rate 150->250.
  • Improved "trigger" for single shot weapons with low rpm. Registers fire button clicks more reliable when fast clicking multiple times.
  • Stat modifiers from weapon loadout mobility values are now more linear without weird steps.
  • Adjusted weapons' materials to less metallic(dark) -> slightly better visible on players back and in night missions.

[h3]AI team:[/h3]
  • Teammates can now individually set back to follow mode by giving them another individual move command while cursor is over the player character.
  • Fixed multiple issues that caused Ai teammates not always shoot back when shot at.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Ai teammates consider some railings as effective covers even they are not.
  • Fixed a couple of bugs that caused Ai teammates behave incorrectly when commanded by a client player in multiplayer.

[h3]Sounds:[/h3]
  • Improved weapon sounds by adding tail sounds for assault rifle, submachine gun, and light machine gunshots. Tails are faded out if shooting indoor.
  • Added new sounds for SawedOff, and AA-12.
  • Added water sounds for beach and rivers.
  • Added wind sound that gets louder when climbing higher. Wind level is randomized, so sometimes it can also be heard at ground level. Higher wind also adds additional movement to foliage.
  • Water and wind sounds can also be heard inside a building when near an open door or window.
  • Fixed missing ship engine room ambient sound in Heavy Load mission.
  • Added ambient sound for Tower Affair mission server room

[h3]Misc fixes and improvements:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused enemies unable to shoot at player if surprised while planting a bomb (wave defense missions).
  • Fixed issues that caused ADS sometimes not correctly enabled when pressing ADS button down during doing something that temporarily disables ADS (like swapping a weapon).
  • Some additional minor fixes and improvements.

Blacklist Brigade - Version 0.9.5 - New Mission Update!

[h3]New content:[/h3]
  • Added a new mission, Hotel Hell. It's a wave defense mission where players defend a hotel building against enemy attack, and defuses bombs planted by enemies.

[h3]Weapons:[/h3]
  • It's now possible to pick up ammo from any weapon that uses the same ammo type than the player's weapon. When items on ground are shown by holding down the Alt key, the ammo icon is shown after weapon's name text if it uses the same ammo type.
  • Added 5% critical hit chance for player's weapons. It's increased by an additional +0.5% per Weapon Quality Level (+5% max at level 10). Damage is multiplied by 1.5x or 2x for best 1/5. Damage numbers are colored in yellow and red when show damage is enabled. Grenade launchers and rocket launchers can't crit.
  • Weapons have now Mobility ratings that replaces the old (small, heavy I, heavy II) categories.
  • Added two new weapons, Scorpion EVO 3 and MC51.
  • Added a better looking model for MG3.
  • Added a new model for laser trip mines.
  • When using the grenade launcher part of the M16 M203, the weapon icon's grenade launcher part is colored yellow.
  • Small adjustments in weapons stats.

[h3]UI:[/h3]
  • The equipment selector pie menu that is used with controllers has now icons for all items instead of just text.
  • The weapon/ammo widget in the screen bottom right also shows icons for grenades instead of text.
  • Removed weapon type text from the weapon/ammo widget.

[h3]Animations:[/h3]
  • Added a lot of animations for certain actions that were missing them, for example bomb defuse/plant, interacting with computers, burning stuff, picking up a weapon etc.
  • Added turn in place animations for player characters.
  • Added weapon recoil animations.

[h3]AI team:[/h3]
  • AI teammates now gather front of a door and move in slowly walking and aiming down sights when commanded to assault through doors/stairs.
  • AI teammates crouch if the player is crouching.

[h3]Models:[/h3]
  • Added a new model for the air defense system that has cannons, missiles, and rotating radar.
  • Improved model for the enemy turret. Also has a small rotating motion detector/radar.

[h3]Sounds: [/h3]
  • Most of sound effect volumes are now reduced if there is a wall between the player and sound location. Multiple walls reduce the sound volume more than a single wall.

[h3]Misc fixes and improvements:[/h3]
  • Fixed a bug that caused escaping civilians get stuck when trying to vault.
  • Fixed a bug that caused interacting with items complete even the player gets downed during process.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Dexter's Booby Traps spawn under stairs when placed on stairs.
  • Fixed an issue that caused AI chars unable to follow player if vaulted while crouching.
  • Fixed an issue that caused enemies sometimes get stuck after vaulting.
  • Enemies who spot players has now their off-screen indicators turned on right away on Easy and Normal (on harder turned on when they start shooting).
  • Off-screen indicators on screen bottom should be now a bit more accurate.
  • Fixed a bug that caused mission item notify markers (on control panels, gas cans etc) be visible through floors for the host player in multiplayer.
  • Fixed a bug that caused joining a game through Steam invites didn't work after hosting a game (unless visited the multiplayer menu).
  • Fixed a bug that caused joining a game through Steam invites not work if the player was already in a multiplayer game.
  • Some additional minor fixes.
