Railroad to the Next Update
[p]G’day! everyone[/p][p][/p][p]Have you been enjoying the last update, “Night Market”? It was the one where a mysterious night vendor appeared at midnight and offered a variety of unique decorative items. Oh… have you already enjoyed it to the fullest and now feel like you need something new? Perfect timing then — today we’re here to share a little about the next update that will be coming soon.[/p][p]In particular, this update will introduce a new type of vehicle and also bring changes to the farm animal system. Since this isn’t just about decorative items, it may even change the way you play the game~! In addition, we’re working on improvements to multiplayer stability and various quality-of-life features based on the feedback you’ve been sending us.[/p][p]So, shall we take a look at some of the new content first?[/p][p] [/p][h3]New Contents[/h3][p]
[/p][p]The first thing we’d like to show you is the new vehicle — the train. Dinkum already has many types of vehicles, but this train has a unique feature. To run, it needs proper tracks! (Just like in real life… haha.) Of course, you can place the train on areas without tracks, but it won’t be able to move![/p][p]Even with that limitation, the train is the fastest ground vehicle added so far. If the conditions allow, you’ll be able to run from one end of your island to the other without much trouble. We hope you’ll enjoy designing your island in even more creative ways with the train and tracks.[/p][p] [/p][p]
[/p][p]A new farm animal is also being added. Its cute appearance, resembling a bandicoot, is quite charming! In addition, there will be some new animals with a somewhat familiar appearance. Details on how to obtain and use these new animals will be shared later in the patch notes when the update goes live. Beyond that, a new system related to farm animals is also on the way, so we ask for your interest and excitement![/p][p]
[/p][p] [/p][h3]Multiplayer and QoL Improvements[/h3][p]Beyond new content, we are continuing to address long-standing issues that have persisted over time. Multiplayer inconveniences, in particular, have been among the most frequently reported and are a challenge we take very seriously. In this update, improvements to both performance and network quality will be made through a Unity engine update, and we’re looking forward to delivering a more stable and improved online play experience.[/p][p]Additionally, we’re incorporating other quality-of-life enhancements inspired by your feedback. These improvements are all about making gameplay smoother and ensuring you really notice the difference in your play environment.[/p][p] [/p][h3]Future Updates and Development Direction[/h3][p]The update we’ve been talking about is targeted for release in October. Naturally, updates for Dinkum will continue beyond that. While nothing is finalized yet, discussions on new content and system improvements are ongoing. We’ve been exploring ideas like new terrain, maps, vehicles, tools, NPCs, and plenty of other fun things we believe you’ll enjoy.[/p][p]Rather than only showing finished results, we want to be more transparent by sharing the ideas and progress we’re working on. Moving forward, we aim to connect with you more often and more actively. For example, the character Mossy, who recently began streaming on Discord using screen sharing, is part of these efforts. Please see this as another way we’re making sure Dinkum continues to be something we build together with the community.[/p][p] [/p][p]Since today’s post is just a small preview ahead of the official reveal of the next update, we weren’t able to share everything at once.
