It's time to learn more about factions of ORX! For some of you it will serve as a good memory refresher about the 1st faction of ORX, and for others — an introduction to the Rune Guardians. And of course, the 2nd episode of these series will show you the upcoming faction of Dune Reavers!

First up are all familliar Rune Guardians. They were the original protectors of the realm and can be called the oldest nation. Long ago they were on a brink of destruction due to magic forces getting out of control. The only way to salvation for them was to purge the magic from their lands and control everything that was left through the power of runes — hence giving them the name Rune Guardians.

Next are mysterious new Dune Reavers. Long ago they lived in a beautiful city-oasis named Ruan. But then the Cataclysm striked and once lush lands turned to barren deserts. Surviving the harsh deserts is a fit achievable only by the strongest — that's why Warrior code and melee combat lie deep in the culture of Dune Reavers.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise. When I first sampled the tower defence deckbuilding delights of ORX a couple of months ago, I'd assumed that we'd be playing as the demo's medieval castle builders throughout. Today, however, devs Johnbell have announced a brand-new faction for the game, the sand-loving Dune Reavers. Even more intriguing, though, is that the Dune Reavers aren't actually big fans of building, you know, towers, favouring instead the brute force approach of their large armies. Can you still call it tower defence if there aren't any towers involved? Decide for yourself by watching the new gameplay trailer below.
