Fireworks Mania | Dev Log | v2019.11.2

Happy New Year - hope you had a good year so far!

I december I managed, especially thanks to the Christmas vacation, to create a New Years Special Demo of Fireworks Mania, free for all to play.

I knew the game was "fun", but I didn't except that huge amount of positive feedback and downloads that I have received since releasing that demo! WoW!

To make the demo ready in time for New Years eve, I had to put it on itch.io. Nothing wrong with itch.io, I just want the real demo to be here on Steam where the game also lives.

Therefore, I made the demo so it expired on the 6th of January 2020, sorry for that to all the players feeling sad about not being able to play.

However, fear not, I'm now working on getting a demo ready on Steam that does not expire. The content will be close to the same as the New Years version.

Big thanks to all the people who played the demo this New Year and all the YouTubers who shared their experience on YouTube - Thank you all!

Fireworks Mania | Dev Log | v2019.11.2

In this video I go through some of the changes I have made in version v2019.11.2.

This video is somewhat technical and some of it might not make sense if you are not a game developer.
However, for regular players I might be interested to see how things are actually done behind the scenes.

I post these dev logs on YouTube after each version and will also post here on Steam.

However, if you want to see all my videos, please consider subscribing to my YouTube channel: Laumania.

The main theme in this version is "audio". I started using Master Audio for Unity and got 1000+ real firework sounds that I start using in the game - and they sound very good!

- Enjoy!

PS: To avoid confusion, let me make it clear - as of writing december 2019 - you can't buy Fireworks Mania on Steam yet.
However, you can wishlist it to get notified when it's released. I'm posting video and news like this on Steam and YouTube to let you know about the progress of the game.

Fireworks Mania finally on Steam

Hi, my name is Mads and I build games in my sparetime. Call me an indie game developer if you want. I have a fulltime job, a wife, 2 kids and a dog - so finding time to develop games requires dedication. However, I can't help myself, I keep creating small games and have been doing so since 2006 were I got my degree in computer science.
This time, I'm creating a firework game as you might already have discovered.

It all started with one of my kids asking for a fireworks game where he could play around with fireworks around New Years eve 2018/2019.

We searched online but couldn't really find what he wanted. All the firework games we could find were either VR games or more "strategy/builder" games, where you had to configure the perfect fireworks show.

That wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted to be able to run around and actually "play" with fireworks. Either just fire it off as you would do in real life, but also do more fun and dangerous stuff, that you would not (and should not) do in real life.

After finding out that a game like that didn't existed - I thought to myself - I can build this!

And so it all started in January 2019.

Now I hope to be able to build a perfectly fun little fireworks game together with you guys and girls.

If you think Fireworks Mania sounds like a game for you, consider wishlisting it here on Steam and follow the development on my YouTube channel:

Hope to see you around,
Mads
