Day 1 Patch - 0.1.1 NOW LIVE!

[h3]We are happy to announce that the first patch for Northern Lights is here, and with it comes a lot of system balancing and bugfixes![/h3]

Special thanks to everyone who have purchased and played our game! And special thanks to everyone who reported the issues they found and their ideas to us!

We want to remind everyone that Northern Lights is in its first days of Early Access so there might still be a lot of bugs to be ironed and a lot balancing to be done.

Because of this, we encourage everyone to use the Report A Bug button found in the Game Menus in order to reach to us about possible issues! Also don't forget to join our Community and Discord Server where we have chats dedicated for feedback and new ideas!

[h3]0.1.1 Changelog[/h3]

  • Freezing sounds trigger less often now
  • The Inspect Map objective now auto completes if player continues through the cave instead of opening the map. This solves the issue of breaking the questline if the player skips opening the map
  • The Food Stats in consumption panel now display the % of hunger restored
  • It is now possible to craft Sharp Rocks from blueprints rather than the shredding menu to avoid confusion
  • It is now possible to shred Books and Paper Stacks into Tinder
  • Some recipes have been tweaked to more reasonable requirement amounts
  • Activities that do not require tools or timepassing (shredding etc) no longer require the user to look at the timelapse screen
  • It is now possible to sleep on beds in weather station
  • Loading list read from disk times have been greatly improved (from freezing 5-10 seconds to almost instantly). This fix does not affect the issue of the game itself loading too slow, that still being under investigation.
  • Removed MSVO ambient occlusion and added a higher quality SSAO profile in place
  • Disabled exclusive fullscreen mode as it causes Unity Engine to freeze on Alt-Tab (Fullscreen now acts as Borderless Fullscreen until furter investigation)

  • Balancing of frostbite and hypotermia afflictions
  • Balancing of temperatures in interiors
  • Balancing of hunger and hydration depletion values
  • Balancing of melee damage and AI hitbox multipliers
  • Balancing of blisters affliction trigger
  • Balancing of decay values for all equipment tools
  • Balancing of some animals' behaviour
  • Balancing of cabin fever trigger
  • Balancing of timelapse UI duration on tool based activities

  • Fixed an issue causing character to fall through map on load if due to subscenes collision not being fully initialized
  • Fixed an issue causing interaction UI to shiver causing clicking on buttons to not work correctly
  • Fixed an issue causing placeable objects to not work inside buildings
  • Fixed an issue causing frostbite to sometimes trigger before risk reaching 100%
  • Fixed an issue causing character to not recover condition during sleep and passing time
  • Fixed an issue causing Use button to not show on bandage item
  • Fixed an issue causing tool to still be required for tool-less item shredding (clothes etc.)
  • Fixed an issue causing treatments to not work in afflictions (could not consume doses etc.)
  • Fixed an issue causing pelt placing on the ground to break the game
  • Fixed an issue causing rice and pasta to not display as burned in inventory
  • Fixed some missing localization



[h3]A note about performance, stuttering, and loading game issues[/h3]
We are aware that some of you have reported various performance issues, some of them really serious, and we are currently looking into them.

They are the top priority for the next patch and we aim to get them solved as soon as possible!

We already started on improving the memory usage and the loading times but unfortunately these fixes did not make it to the day one patch as we need more time to properly test them.
