Northern Lights 0.5.2 Patch Notes

Hello everyone!

We have just released a new patch to address some of the issues reported in the past days! Full changelog below:

  • Improved books researching UX
  • Improved some localization strings in German Language

  • Fixed an issue causing time passing to not affect items and objects in distant locations
  • Fixed an issue causing mapping pieces to disappear after player death
  • Fixed an issue causing inventory to leave player paused after exit
  • Fixed an issue with quest hud text wrapping
  • Fixed an issue causing death to not occur if player is interacting with an object
  • Fixed an issue causing Lookout Tower at Yurak Hills to not reveal in some cases
  • Fixed an issue with Research Camp questline

Northern Lights 0.5.1 Patch Notes

Greetings everyone!

Today we released a quick patch to address some of the issues reported with the latest major update! Full changelog below:

  • Added setting to turn on/off controls in HUD
  • Fires can now be lighted with a burning torch by left clicking on fire
  • Torch can now be lighted if a match or lighter is available in inventory
  • Tweaked Torch lighting intensity
  • Wood Logs now yield Spruce Bark when harvested
  • Tweaked some crafting recipes

  • Fixed an issue with map icons for Nenet Camp and Airdrop
  • Fixed an issue with duplicate door in Climber's Hut
  • Fixed an issue causing Nenets Camp tents colliders to throw player outside
  • Fixed an issue causing footsteps to not work in certain buildings
  • Fixed an issue causing new game quest to go tracked when loading game after the quest has been already completed
  • Fixed an issue causing research books to reveal plants consumption effect but not their infusion effect
  • Fixed an issue causing clothing to not decay over time

Update 0.5 is now RELEASED!

Hello everyone! Today marks yet another milestone for Northern Lights! We are proud to announce that version 0.5 is now LIVE on STEAM!

This version aims to improve the overall and feel of the game, along with some critical fixes to issues reported in the past weeks!

[h2]What's new in v0.5?[/h2]

This update comes with a lot of improvements related to the overall user experience and interface. Full list of additions and improvements below!

    Torch can now be lit at a burning fire
    Torch now has its own animation set
    Journal now always opens on previously opened section
    Inventory now always opens on previously opened pocket
    Improvements to cooking to backpack UX
    Snow melted in recycled can now gives 0.3L instead of 1L of water
    Antibiotics can now be used to treat infection risk
    Dried plants are no longer consumable
    Remove health penalty from broken ribs and abrasion
    Pine sap can now be used as tinder
    Paper debris can now be used as fire fuel
    Arrows now weight 0.1kg instead of 0.3kg
    Player icon is now smaller on map
    Painkillers can now be used to treat fever
    Health audio effects system improved so the same effect won't repeat until others have been played
    Looted maps now save their looted status so they won't respawn when revisiting a location
    Added notification pings in player menu when new item or entry is available
    Added playthrough stats to pause menu
    Added tutorials list for accessing tutorials in pause menu
    Added recycled can as starter item for all difficulties
    Added hunger and energy restore to chaga mushroom
    Added label with control to open journal in new entry notification
    Added controls HUD adapting to current item
    Added setting to switch between hold and toggle behavior for sprint and crouch
    Added setting for Look Smoothing
    Added setting for Head Bob Intensity
    Added setting for switching between Toggle/Hold mode for watch, compass and binoculars controls
    Added setting for toggling on/off HUD crosshair
    Added setting for toggling on/off various HUD notifications
    Added new ADS system for rifle
    Added fireplaces in houses
    Added mushrooms as fishing bait
    Added tutorials in shape of quests
    Added tutorial popup for afflictions

    Cabin fever risks now starts after 48h inside

We want to remind everyone that Northern Lights is in an Early Access state so there might still be a lot of bugs to be ironed out and a lot of balancing to be done.

We will continue fixing reported bugs and issues for 0.5.x while working on the next feature update v0.6 as per our Development Roadmap Available HERE

Update 0.4.1 is now RELEASED!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! We hope everybody had a great time during the Holidays and enjoyed them to their fullest!



Today we want to announce that Northern Lights v0.4.1 is now Live on STEAM and aims to address most of the issues that have been reported in the past weeks!

Along with this update we also took our time to adjust the pricing for the game - based on feedback we've received by our players as well as on the sales analysis we did during the Winter Sale!

We consider it's only fair to lower the price given the current state of the game content wise. Instead the price of the game will slowly rise as we add new core content!

[h2]What's new?[/h2]

Along with the reported issues, we took some of the feedback received from users and turned it into reality! The list below contains all the new things we added to the game based on the community wishlist!
    It is now possible to drink water from water bodies (rivers/lakes) by right-clicking on their surfaces
    Cloth can now be used to craft Rope in the Journal's Crafting page
    Journal now displays the required Crafting Skill level to unlock the next crafts
    The Graphics Settings Menu now has a slider to adjust Field Of View
    Compass is now easier to read at night
    Cabin Fever Affliction is now disabled at lower difficulties
    Traps have now different visuals when armed and when triggered

    Fixed issue causing food item stacks to display item with highest time to decay instead of lowest first
    Fixed issue causing herbs to show revealed name instead of unknown when gathering from nature
    Fixed issue causing items to drop in air
    Fixed issue causing some locations to not initialize correctly
    Fixed issue causing language auto-detection to not work correctly
    Fixed issue causing resolution selector to not work correctly
