Content Patch 1.57 - Level Editor Updates, Bug Fixes

Hi Everyone,

The past month, I've been working on updating the Level Editor so that it would be easier for people to start creating their own content for Fast and Low.

You can download the new Level Editor from the github repository:

https://github.com/huskinator86/modkit

Prebuilt Models

There are now a whole slew of Prebuilt building pieces and Furniture that you to use to create your own level. These pieces are already scaled appropriately and have their colliders set up, and it saves you from having to build your own models from scratch.

To further aid you in the process, a short video tutorial has been created showing you the step by step process to creating your own level.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9uSzvtzL3M

Exploding Elements

You can now add Exploding barrels into your custom levels.

The script can also be used to create your own explodable items.

Custom NPCs

I've also added the ability to import your own Custom Character models for your levels.

The process requires a basic understanding of Blender character rigging, so I would say this is more of an advanced endeavor. A tutorial will eventually be made to walk-through how to do this on your own.

2 Workshop maps will be added to showcase these new Level Editor elements!!!

Misc Changes
- Fixed the Remy-Shotgun for FPS players (when using Lo)
- Fixed Enemy Pistol aiming animation

- Test Bindings for WMR headsets have been added. Please let me know if these enable the functionality of the 2nd joystick on the WMR controllers.

Content Patch 1.56

Hello Everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that players can now Upload and share their level creations to the Steam Workshop. A guide will be created and posted on the Community tab shortly, to outline the process and prerequisites for uploading to Workshop.

Game Version is now 1.56
Misc Changes
- Fixed issue where a Windows 10 Microphone Setting: "Allow Apps to Access your Microphone", would cause the game to black screen/crash on Mission Load
- Increased Dmg on AK. Increased Recoil to compensate.
What's Next
- Adding more building tools to the Level Editor so it's easier to create levels
- Add Custom enemy functionality
- Look into WMR controls.

Content Patch 1.55: Custom Level Support, Networking Updates, QoL Changes

Good Afternoon,

I'm excited to announce that Content Patch 1.55 is now ready! With this update, I'm bringing Custom Level Support to Fast and Low, as well as a slew of updates and changes.

Unfortunately, past saves will no longer work with version 1.55 of Fast and Low. However, I'll be posting a Save File on the official discord channel which unlocks everything. So hopefully that will appease some folk :P Apologies in advance for your saves getting lost.
Custom Level Support
Fast and Low can now take in Custom Levels made using a Unity based Level Editor. This mod kit and a comprehensive wiki on how to use it can be found here:

https://github.com/huskinator86/modkit

With this level editor, future map creators can import their own 3d-assets, and using the tools; setup enemy placements, create enemy patrol paths, cover points, and etc. Each of these tools will be covered in the documentation.

Custom Levels can also be played online! As long as you and your online co-op buddies have the same version of the custom map/mod, you'll be able to explore new custom-content together! I'm really excited to see what people can come up with!

Until I figure out how to properly get Steam Workshop linked to Fast and Low, Map creators can share their maps on the Fast and Low Modding Discord channel: https://discord.gg/FJWh7M
Or maybe post their creations on Nexusmods?
Networking Updates
Cleaned up some of the Networking code, in hopes of fixing issues with players sometimes loading into levels without their avatars. In addition, join-able rooms now indicate the Map that the room is currently playing (whether it be the base 13 missions, or custom levels).

If a room is currently running a custom map that you don't have, it will inform you and restrict you from joining.

If a host starts running a custom map you don't have, while you have already joined...it will promptly eject you back to the main menu.
Change Loadout
Players can now change their loadouts during Missions or in the Multiplayer Lobby. The changes would take place on Mission Restart/Scene Change.

Don't forget to SAVE your changes!!

Note: Although all these screenshots are from a VR perspective...these changes have also been made for the Desktop FPS player!
Misc Fixes
- Completely changed the fonts for the HUDs and Main Menus
- Fixed some bugs with enemies not shooting straight
- Fixed some bugs with enemies not shooting with their backup weapon
- Redid lighting for Main Menu so it's smoother

This is just the start of the Modding Process for Fast and Low. The next step is to add the ability to create/add your own enemies/weapons/player avatars, as well as figure out Steam Workshop integration. If anyone runs into any problems. Please post it here or you can find me on Discord!

Thanks everyone for your feedback and support so far!

Progress Update - 10/11/2020

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give you all a progress update on what I've been working on the past few weeks, and pass along some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that the I've been making pretty good progress in getting Custom Levels access into Fast and Low. So far I've created a working Unity-based level editor that allows the community to make custom maps and export them as asset bundles for Fast and Low to run. ːwinter2019happyyulː

With this editor, players are given templates to add in enemy placements, doors, patrol paths, change the level music and etc.

I'm currently still working on the multiplayer portion of mod-support so players can enjoy custom maps with their friends.... And I'll also need to create a step-by-step guide/manual on how to use all these cool tools so that users can get their custom levels up and running smoothly. I feel that with the inclusion of user-generated levels, it would greatly increase the replayability of Fast and Low.

The Bad news for all this is that with the re-factoring of all my scripts....unfortunately it would break your saved game data. ːwinter2019sadyulː However, I'll have a Saved-game file ready with everything unlocked on the Discord when I release the next update.

This is just a sneak peek of what I'm working on so y'all don't think I'm just slacking off over here lol! ːwinter2019happyyulː

Stay tuned for more!

Patch 1.54 - Content Patch

Hi Everyone,

Today's patch adds a bunch of cool features to Fast and Low, like face gestures, improved animations, an easier method of reloading, and more. Game Version is now 1.54.

Face Gestures
After watching some Youtube videos for Fast and Low, one thing that irked me was the lack of facial expressions on the players. Now players playing Local Multiplayer or Online Multiplayer can perform Face Gestures to further convey their Anger/Happiness/Shock.

If you have your mic enabled. Speaking into your mic will also cause your avatars mouth to move.

Mouth movement is synced over the network. So when you're talking to your fellow buddy cop on Discord, he/she should see your avatars mouth move.

UI Disable Option
Getting bored of UI prompts popping up when you can pick up a gun? Or want to increase your VR immersion? Well try these two new options...now on the Main Menu Board (Page 2)

You can now disable your Touching/Holstering/Pickup UI prompts, your Weapon Ammo Counters, or BOTH! ːsteamhappyː

Arcade Reload
A new method of reloading has been added to make the game more accessible to a wider audience.

With "Arcade Reload" active, guns automatically reload when the player finishes up their mag, or when they holster their gun. The drawback is, the reload is relatively slow.... This encourages the player to try and manually reload the gun themselves (to override the slow autoreload).

Animation Fixes
- New crouching animation for VR players when they are below a certain height.
- Facial Animations on civilians and enemies were missing for alot of models. This has now been added in.
- Improved Walking and Running Animation for the FPS player models.

Misc Fixes
- Fixed desync issue when reloading ARs (in VR)
- Fixed desync issue for reloading Primary Shotguns (FPS)
- Re-did VR death sequences. Corpses for VR players now ragdoll better

With this update done, I now plan on taking a plunge into looking at getting some kind of Workshop/Modding thing going with Fast and Low. However, I'll still be around to field any questions and fix up on bugs....so feel free to post any issues that you come across and I'll try my best to get it looked at.

As usual, thank you everyone for your support and feedback so far!
