Patch 1.2 is coming!

Hey there, Gatewalkers! 😄

Today, we'd like to tell you a little bit about what we've been working on recently and what you can expect in the coming weeks.

First and foremost, thank you all for your encouragement and feedback 💜 We have read everything you posted on Discord, Steam, and other social media platforms. Your insights were valuable and gave us another perspective on things. In response to your messages, we'd like to talk about the future Patch 1.2 modifications.

Note, when you read the ideas and see the screenshots, that the changes are still in the works, so a lot can change. However, we want to give you an idea of what we're working on and what you can expect! ⚔️

  1. Multiple character slots
    We absolutely understand that some of you want to start the game from scratch or be able to play with your friends regardless of your solo adventure. That is why we are adding more character slots. As a result, each player will be able to create up to three characters on the server as well as three characters offline (more on that later). So you can create 6 characters in total!

    Below we present you the character selection carousel.


  2. Offline mode
    We hear you guys. We realized that offline mode is very important to you, so we are working on it! How will it work? When selecting a character, you will be able to toggle between Online and Offline mode. You can create up to three characters in each of the modes you choose. It is possible to play without connecting to a server in offline mode, however you should be aware that offline characters are saved locally. As a result, you can only play these characters by yourself (it is not possible to join a party).

    It is worth mentioning that offline characters will be saved in STEAM CLOUD, so even if you change your computer or switch to the STEAM DECK, the character will be saved on your STEAM account (unless you disable synchronization).

  3. Matchmaking
    Gatewalkers is a game that provides an enjoyable experience when played in a team. As a result, we want to add the functionality of automatic pairing of players to the party to make it easier for you to play with other people. The mechanism operates by comparing the character's number of progress points (so people with similar character development parameters are paired first). As a result, when fighting together in the game, individuals who join you should have similar strength.

    The system allows you to select the "Matchmaking" option in the friend invitation window. Then you choose the pairing mode (“Find players”) with other players:


    Join - Searches for open games to join others storyline
    Host - Allows other players to join your storyline



    Once you have selected the option that suits you, you either have to wait for new players to join your game, or you are taken to join someone else's game.



  4. In-game chat
    We understand that not everyone wants to join a Discord server to communicate with friends. As a result, we are going to incorporate in-game text chat for the party players. So you should find it easier to coordinate your actions, such as when everyone is ready to embark on the expedition during crafting etc.



    We're also considering starting a global chat, but we haven't made a final decision yet.

  5. Combat flow changes
    We realize that some of you find fighting to be a little clunky. This is a complex area, but measures will be taken to make it more fluent. In fact, we intend to add two features that will assist you while playing:
    • auto-attack - when you hold the main attack button, your character will continue to attack (no more neverending clicking)
    • skill queue - some of you may have encountered issues while casting your abilities too fast one after another (casting second spell before the first one finished). This usually results in no second spell being executed at all. Typically, in games such as MOBAs and/or aRPGs, the game remembers what you clicked in the short period of time and attempts to fluently replay the sequence of casted skills to fit your pattern. We've added this now, and we think it will significantly improve the game flow.

We have just launched a new Patch 😊!

Okay, here is a list of changes we have made. Quick reminder 👉 verify your game files after downloading the patch to ensure that the game runs smoothly.

⚙️ List of fixes and changes 🛠️

  • Fixed an issue in the T6 Sky rocks objective with doors that couldn’t open
  • Fixed an issue that prevented inventory items from being reorganized while playing on a gamepad
  • Fixed the position of the Ancient Hybrid mob's health bar
  • Fixed an issue where other players would still leave footprints in underground locations in the Ice World
  • Fixed an issue where interacting with the lightning rod in the Volarian village in the Ancient Machine Schema quest would automatically unlock the T4, T5, and T6 lightning rods. Now it only unlocks the T4 rod, and if you want to obtain the T5 and T6 version, you must unlock them in the Progression Tree and complete the Ancient Machine Schema quest
  • Fixed an issue where the Wisp mob would not spawn in one of the Ice T7 caves
  • Fixed an issue where the T6 Lamp skill was not applying the Prey Mark correctly
  • Fixed an error when after pressing LB on the gamepad on the selected "Sort" button, the error "null ref exception" appeared
  • Fixed the lack of FX in Assassin Blade Toxic weapon
  • Fixed running animation after fight with the Volarian Tomb Priest
  • The character now rotates towards the secret chest when interacting with it
  • Increased the chance to mine Gold, Silver, Epic and Legendary materials by 5%
  • Added component tooltips to the repair window
  • Now you can preview component tooltips while playing on a gamepad
  • Now the lightning rod hint in Sky Rocks only appears after obtaining the lightning rod recipe.
  • Added elemental FX on the second dagger in each weapon version
  • Added FX invulnerability on Volarian Tomb Priest when it transforms into a new form
  • Added an Ancient Cannon healing effect if the player is far away from the boss (so the boss can't be killed from above)
  • When the player controls the character with the mouse, the arrow minigame now uses the WASD keys regardless of how the player binds the buttons
  • Added converted value next to percentage in food and drink tooltip description

Here is a new patch. A big thank you to everyone who reported bugs! We are so happy to see you enjoying the adventures behind the Gate 😎

Now, take a look at what we did in this patch!

🛠️ List of changes 🛠️
  • Sisters now give less progress points
  • Ancient Consciousness T7 Objectives now reward the player with 25 Progression Points
  • Improved Volarian Tomb Priest's death timings
  • Volarian Tomb Priest no longer disappears immediately upon death
  • Improved the Ice Wisp skill
  • Rebalanced recipes for T7 Epic weapons, they previously had inconsistent numbers of basic and epic resources
  • The method of counting passives and their naming has been improved
  • Fixed VFX for the Energy Amulet
  • Fixed incorrect boss in one of the Ice World T5 objective (it was a Shock boss instead of Cold)
  • Fixed wrong displaying windows in the Progress Tree (for example there were problems with displaying tooltips after hovering over the cells in the lower right corner)
  • Fixes for amulets- now they change their behavior based on changes in equipment and buffs. Applies to Shield Bearers's Amulet, Bobradier's Amulet and Energy Amulet
  • Item drop box now clearly indicates that you can drag and drop more than 1 item at a time
  • Bombardier's Amulet skill damage now scales with modifiers from inventory and effects
  • Fixed an issue where when exchanging an amulet for an equivalent higher tier amulet, the parameters of the amulet's passive skill would not update
  • Fixed an issue where Insect Hives skill indicators would remain after killing a T6 Hollow
  • Fixed a crafting bug where T7 Epic's elemental weapons didn't need sulfur to make them
  • Fixed bugs in Epic and Legendary Reinforced Grenade Launcher recipes. It now correctly requires a Reinforced Grenade Launcher rather than a regular one to craft
  • Fixed island sizes in Sky Rocks
  • Fixed a bug in the Toxic T7 cave that caused the chest to drop loot behind itself to a place inaccessible to the player
  • Fixed a bug in Elder Monkey T3 mission where there were 2 pumps instead of 3
  • Rebalanced objective types across all worlds to make them more diverse
  • Added Snake boss T3 to Toxic random worlds
  • Fixed description and rift in the ground in the Snake Boss T3 lair.

⚙️ List of changes 🛠️
  • Change in boss kills achievements. Now when playing in coop, you don’t have to kill the boss yourself - killing a boss by a partymate also counts.
  • The outlines of items that are deep in the background no longer display.
  • New Elana portrait
  • Added rewards for completing coop objectives
  • Critical strike sound has been modified.
  • Reduced chance of finding an Ancient Cave in all biomes
  • Added metallic foot sounds to the Toxic Ancient Lab objective
  • Added navigation to the password terminal in the Toxic Ancient Lab, now the player can’t go through the terminal.
  • Added missing textures in the Volarian Hunter attack.
  • Balancing Targe Shield's passive aura. Now grants 90 and 160 (from T5) defense buff and the Targe Shield skill now works on allies as well.
  • Fixed a bug in some T5, T6, T7 caves that caused the Etcher T5 mob to work incorrectly.
  • Fixed all treasure detector cases when the detector was showing a place off the map.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the treasure detector to behave strangely when placed close to a chest.
  • Fixed [NO TRANSLATION] bug in Ancient Hybrid boss name.
  • Fixed descriptions in Broadsword's effects when consuming Prey Mark.
  • Ancient Orb kill goal (achievement) has been extended to include Ancient Turret
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Ancient Berserker to display a circle indicating his aggro range when fighting.
  • Fixed an issue where the levers in the Guild Training Room had the "Talk" interaction
  • Added ancient technology fragment resources to all Fire worlds.
  • Fixed a bug in the Toxic Ancient Lab objective where mobs spawned suspended in the air.
  • Fixed navigation in the Toxic Ancient Lab objective that allowed ignoring locked doors when the player was walking on the edge of the objective.
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to find Enlighted Flame Ruler in T7 fire worlds.
  • Fixed missing collisions in the Toxic Ancient Lab
  • Fixed text overlapping on the other UI elements in the crafting window.
  • Fixed a bug where Force Staff T5 Toxic Epic would not unlock after unlocking Force Staff T5 Toxic and Force Staff T5 Epic
  • Fixed issue with inconsistent damage values on rings, when changing gear or while under effects of damage buffs (Diversionist Ring Toxic and Heat)
  • Fixed the bug with the automatic change of the main passive skill when going between the guild and the expedition
  • Fixed a bug with no snow to collect on some T6 Ice Worlds.
  • Fixed Spell Swirl's hit count according to its description.

  • Fixed a broadsword bug that caused performance issues and noticeable game stuttering in coop. The bug occurred while playing with a broadsword user
  • Significantly lowered floor sounds and armor movement sounds
  • Corrected image of the Toxic Essence Collector objective
  • Improved the animation blend of the Smoker mob
  • Fixed disappearing stones in Forest caves
  • Fixed the effect of the agro modifier not working correctly
  • Fixed a goal to become a party leader
  • Fixed a bug where in coop with a T6 broadsword and any offhand equipped, the offhand skills would not get the bonuses from the broadsword skill description
  • Fixed an issue with the ability to duplicate items in clipboard mode with T7 item tracking enabled
  • Fixed not working platform in Sky Rocks objective
  • Fixed progress tree display bug (sometimes only the edge of the progress tree was visible)
  • Fixed cave entrance in the Toxic World T7
  • Fixed the name of the Fire world in the world console (from "Lava World" to "Fire World")
  • Fixed an issue where the Toxic T7 treasure detector was pointing beyond the world border
  • Fixed an issue where the Toxic T7 objective would spawn a giant elite Ancient Berserker
  • Stage with carrying batteries (coop in the Ice World) now counts the amount of the batteries (“Transfer the batteries to the machine with the transporter (0/8”)
  • Improved animation synchronization between Volarian Fire Wielder mob abilities.
  • Improved "Deadly Mark" effect in Assassin's blades weapon when playing in coop
  • Fixed second attack on Broadsword T6 and T7 to properly grant 300 defense when "Prey Mark" is consumed
  • Meat and sandwich buffs rebalanced. Now low tier items give a smaller buff.
  • Fixed wrong effect name in "Burn wound remedy"
  • Improved Diversionist Ring Heat and Diversionist Ring Toxic - now strength scales correctly with weapon strength and player modifiers. Also the effect has the same value as in the weapon description.
  • Improved minimap scrolling - when scrolling the inventory, the minimap no longer zooms.
  • In Sky Rock caves the mobs were moved further - so they don't immediately attack the player when entering caves
  • If you leave the cave during the challenge chest countdown and return after more than a minute, the challenge mobs will no longer spawn for the second time.
  • Fixed a bug where "Rejuvenating blink" would deal damage to the player if they collected a dark orb or crystal orb
  • “Cleanse” no longer removes positive effects.
  • Improved the description of the Torch II upgrade.
  • Improved visualization of Small Parasite's “Armor Up” ability.
