RISK UPDATE v3.22.3

[p]Read below for updates & bug fixes in 3.22.3.[/p][p][/p][h2]Improvements and fixes for game position & game rewards[/h2][p]Three behavioural changes and a server-side position fix:[/p]
  1. [p]The post-game screen now shows BP earned, regardless of when you left.[/p]
  2. [p]Botting out now counts as surrendering: bots can't earn you better rewards or a higher position.[/p]
  3. [p]The last human standing in a multiplayer game always counts as coming first, regardless of remaining bots.[/p]
  4. [p]Player position logic has been cleaned up and moving forward should always be correct on exit or game end. (This change will roll out gradually over the next few days due to server-side changes.)[/p]
[p][/p][p]These changes are significant, so here is a summary on how position and rewards now work:[/p]
  • [p]Game position: based on how many players and bots were eliminated before you won or were defeated. (Example: in a 6-player game, surrendering after eliminating one bot and one player puts you in 4th.)[/p]
  • [p]Battle Points are based on game position, with one exception: the last human player always scores as 1st place, regardless of remaining bots. Full calculation factors in game length, player count, daily limits, and whether the game finished.[/p]
  • [p]Rank Points ignore bots entirely. Only your position relative to other humans counts. Players who bot out are treated as immediately eliminated for RP purposes.

[h2]Bugfixes[/h2][p][/p][p]Major: [/p]
  1. [p]Players that bot out during ready correctly convert to bots and skip their turns promptly.[/p]
  2. [p]Automated bots can no longer become Neutral bots mid-game.[/p]
  3. [p]Steam validation for Sandbox works again with a single click, no workarounds needed.

[p]Minor:[/p]
  1. [p]Restored missing tooltip for Enable Puck Shapes in game settings.[/p]
  2. [p]Statistic tracking has been improved, all stats should be tracked correctly.[/p]
  3. [p]Surrendering players are flagged on surrender, not on an exit from the results screen.[/p]
  4. [p]PC players who skip tutorials can complete them in any order and receive correct completion messages.[/p]
  5. [p]Cosmetic thumbnails for creator codes now render at full resolution.[/p]
  6. [p]Secret Missions players can no longer draw a mission that is already complete.[/p]
  7. [p]Players can no longer be kicked from the game after ready up.[/p]
  8. [p]Avatars will not disappear when a player ends their turn with tooltips open.[/p]
  9. [p]Removing a renewal date on your subscription will not cause it to end early.[/p]
  10. [p]Ibailand territory cards now show the correct territories in their art.[/p]
  11. [p]Ibailand is now available in Sandbox.[/p]
  12. [p]Muting a player will not cause the alliance buttons to disappear.[/p]
  13. [p]Missing attack phase announcements in Zombie mode have been restored.[/p]
  14. [p]Viking conquest maps now show correct visual feedback on territory hover.[/p]
  15. [p]Fixed z-fighting errors when move and attack arrows render over each other.[/p]
  16. [p]Crush Rome scenario has been restored.[/p]
  17. [p]Scenarios can no longer appear in the map select screen for multiplayer games.[/p]
  18. [p]Adjusted a number of maps to make territory adjacency clearer.[/p]
  19. [p]Completing a forced trade now always grants additional time.[/p]
  20. [p]Surrendering in Secret Missions will not show a ‘Victory!’ message.[/p]

COMING SOON: MISSIONS SYSTEM

[p]A new Missions system is on the way.[/p][p]Releasing as part of our major 4.0 update later this year, the Missions system is designed to be an evergreen source of rewards while encouraging players to explore different modes and mechanics.[/p][p]Missions will refresh daily, vary in difficulty, and contribute toward a larger weekly challenge.
[/p][p][/p][p]A few notes on the image above:[/p]
  1. [p]The mission text shown is placeholder content and not final. In principle, missions are designed to encourage online play and experimentation with different modes and play styles.[/p]
  2. [p]Reward types and quantities are still being finalized. The gem rewards shown in the image are placeholder examples only.[/p]
  3. [p]The “Mystery Reward”… that one is real — but for now we’ll leave that as 🤫[/p]

COMING SOON: LOBBY AND MAP SELECT OVERHAUL

[p]The topic of lobby and ready up comes up a lot, so we wanted to share a first look at the UX and UI overhaul coming to RISK in 2026.[/p][p][/p][p]You asked, we listened—READY UP is moving to the lobby:[/p][p][/p][p]Lobby: chat[/p][p][/p][p]Lobby: strategize while waiting with map preview, pan + zoom[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Lobby: check out map info[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Lobby: Detailed game settings[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Advanced settings: includes a convenient reset button [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Select a Map screen[/p][p]No more browsing maps/games one at a time. You can view as rows or grid, adjust thumbnail sizes, dynamic filter (doesn't obscure the whole screen anymore). It's much faster, efficient way to browse now. [/p][h3]Fighting for Freya Charity Tournament[/h3][p]Last year, creator Nordic_Noob shared his story about his niece, Freya, who is battling Morquio Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening genetic disease. [/p][p][/p][p]To continue the fight, Nordic_Noob launched a fun, competitive RISK tournament in support of the Fighting for Freya cause. For every signup, $1 is donated directly to Morquio Syndrome research. Signups are now closed but you can still support by donating to the cause here. [/p][p][/p][p]Thank you to everyone who has supported Nordic_Noob and Freya so far by donating and helping spread awareness.
