Lost Existence News

Lost Existence is going free to play.

Greetings everyone,

Coming January 2021, Lost Existence will transitioning to full release and going free to play.

The team has concluded we are no longer able to work on the game, for a few reasons. For one, the lead developer has taken on a career change. Secondly, the custom engine is too time-consuming to continue development with a new lead. And, also importantly, we have struggled to get eyes on the game, since we didn't make a marketing plan in advance.

There will be no game update along with the release, and no further updates planned. You are still welcome to use the Discord and play the game for free.

Thank you for joining us on this journey :)

Lost Existence 2.0.0 Patch Notes

We're back with another massive update!

We've heard your feedback on needing more to do in the world, so that's what we've focused on for this patch. Our priority has been in improving the overall variety and immersion of the current landscape. We felt like there was too much space between interesting structures and things to explore, so we've added tons of new things to check out.

We've also gotten feedback about the game being too dark, so we've not only brightened night-time, but also, completely reworked the appearance of caves.

Thank you for your patience, we hope you enjoy the new content!

Key Features:
- Added 64 new ruins, spanning across different biome types! Each ruin contains its treasure, and has four rotated variations. The overall spawn rate has been increased.
- Reworked cave generation, adding 9 new cave plants with 4 variations each.
- Primordial foliage generation has been reworked, and ruins have been added.
- (You will need to start a new world to encounter new terrain and ruins, as they won't over-write existing area data.)
- Gem trading and upgrade costs have been completely reworked. Monster scaling has been rebalanced around it. Doubled the drop rate of Legendary gems.
- Extended the reach of block building from 6 to 7, and extended it further from 7 to 15 if you are in Creative mode.
- Added the block "Carved Sandstone".

Updates:
- Massively reduced startup times for single-player/servers.
- Added new music for 'indoor' contexts.
- Added momentum-based whoosh sound effects for falling and Crushing Leap.
- Added some randomization to tall grass, making it look more natural.
- Blocks can now be built while moving, in creative mode only.
- Made significant improvements to the cave cliffs biome.
- Further reduced the spawn rate of stalactites to improve performance.

Balance Updates:
- Reduced the ratio on Order Brings Peace (Piety grandmastery, 45) from 15% to 10%.
- Vitality Drain (Purifier fusion, 30) has been reduced from 4% of max health to 3%.
- Sins of the Titans (Piety mastery, 15) has been reduced from 3% health to 2%.

Minor Updates:
- Barrels now give/cost 30 build cores. Buckets, Stools, and Tables give/cost 10. (Was 1 for all.)
- Reduced the build gems dropped by mushrooms from 10 to 5, and reduced the build gems dropped by crystals from 40 to 15. (This is to compensate for the increased spawn rates).
- Mana and cooldown warnings now display the name of the spell that was unable to cast.
- You now put away your weapons when casting wisdom spells in creative mode.
- Creative mode no longer uses advanced spellcasting (since it needed cast times to work).

- Updated the connection help line.
- Increased the amount of time disappearing blocks stay onscreen after being collected.
- Changed the appearance of the development watermark, and made it appear when the HUD is disabled for screenshotting.
- Slightly decreased the size of the build reticle.

Bugfixes:

- Fixed bug where no Advanced Game Options would work from the New Game menu.

- Fixed a bug where the upgrade tutorial could be hidden in a weird way.
- Fixed a bug where crystals could temporarily vanish.
- Fixed a bug where 3D block shadows would draw too far from their location.
- Fixed a bug where the old build tool selection menu would open when escape was pressed with a field selected.
- Fixed a bug where returning from the keybinds menu after clicking change keys on the hotbar menu, would go to the options menu, rather than the intended hotbar menu.
- Fixed a bug where clings and climbs would not disappear when switching to creative mode.
- Fixed an issue where steam invite IP addresses would erase.
- Fixed a bug where players would occasionally spawn inside of blocks on a new world.
- Fixed a bug where areas with a lot of desert and a little ice would prioritize winter music.

Lost Existence Beta 1.4.0 Patch Notes

We've been truly blown away by the response from our quickly growing community. Your feedback has been instrumental to developing this patch, and we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you to everyone, from the team here at Lurid Spectre Games!
Key Features:
- Pyromancy and Piety combat controls have been improved. They now control similar to Fury, using light/medium/special attack controls with the mouse. You can use the old system by setting "Single-Spell Wisdom Clicks:ON" in Options.
- Doubled the speed of 'Collect' for breaking blocks. (This changed a default server setting, so it won't affect existing worlds, please update them manually).
- Blocks can now be built twice as fast.
- Tripled the number of natural light sources spawning in caves. (Won't affect already saved worlds).
- Greatly improved the appearance of water. It is also selectable now. (Water physics have not been added.)
Balance Updates:
- Halved the casting time and damage of Judgement, making it serve better as a light attack. Reduced its mana cost from 150 to 50. Also increased its PvP ratio from 50% to 75%.
- Focused Sunlight (level 5 purifier fusion) has been reworked: "Judgement deals 300% more damage, costs 250% more mana, casts 250% slower, and slows your movement."
- Reduced Sins of the Titans (level 15 Piety mastery) from 4% to 3% of the target's health.
- Eye of the Storm (Level 45 Piety Grandmastery) has been reworked: "Grace of the Wind casts 50% faster, and costs 20% less mana. It also allows full movement speed." (old: 150% speed/60% less mana/-50% power)
- Reduced the mana cost of Serenity from 100 to 80.
- Pyromancy spells now give full loot from destroying blocks, rather than half.
- Reduced the horizontal distance covered by Hunter's charged leap by about 50%.
- Massively reduced the distance covered by Hunter's automatic dodge.
- Spell config files no longer use flat mana cost or cast time. They now load multipliers. This is to allow future balance changes without erasing custom world settings.
Other Updates:
- Made overworld night brighter. This should greatly improve gameplay for low gamma monitors.
- Building torches and ladders with keybinds no longer switches your selected spell to build mode. This reduces combat disruption.
- Warning messages for running out of mana, or having spells on cooldown, now display in the center of the screen.
- Lowered the volume of the title music by 40%.
- Added descriptions on mouseover for the challenge modes in the new game menu.
- Added a "Rotate" button to build commands, which rotates around the horizontal axis.
- The loading screen now displays a warning when you try to start the game with insufficient memory available.

- Block select up and down keybinds now default to arrow keys (was period and comma).
- Removed some of the tutorial boxes from mastery selection for higher level players.
- Dungeon Graveyards are now enabled by default, since they show on the build tool screen. (Will not affect existing worlds, they'll have to be updated manually).

- Fixed a bug where mana checks for starting the swing of melee spells were ignoring masteries, but not costing extra.
