Dum-Dum News

New additions in this week's update:

• GAME "Rock Runner" - dig tunnels underground to collect gems, while avoiding being crushed by large rocks. Available on the games page of the "Hogo/BBS" Hogonet site.
  
• STEAM ACHIEVEMENT "Rocky Road" - complete the first eight levels of Rock Runner (the first seven are the core levels, while number eight is randomly generated).
  
• BASIC BOX "Note" command - add music notes to BASIC programs. Type "Help Note" in BASIC Box for more information on this new command.
  

Also increased the control accuracy when playing TIPY 5 with a mouse or touchscreen.

Hogo OS 1985 Edition has a new Halloween "pumpkin" theme! Plus, the Hogo BBS site (hogo/bbs) now has a new games category. It includes a couple of simple old-school games with graphics made entirely from the existing Hogo OS fonts.

• GAME "Pellet Packer" - collect all the pellets while avoiding roaming enemies
  
• GAME "TIPY 5" - grab keys from a scrolling landscape to unlock portals to new regions
  
• DESKTOP THEME "Pumpkin"

A couple of new updates are on the beta branch:

• Hogo OS now has a virtual in-game bulletin board system (BBS), primarily used as a primitive forum. It is accessible through the Hogonet Reader. There are currently only a few things to explore, but this will be expanded in future updates. See the text book "Hogo OS Pro Tips" by Hogo Sub-worker #64 for the Hogo BBS address.
  
• It is now possible to fully customize the position of icons on your desktop. Visit the new Hogo BBS in-game (see above) for directions on how to do this.
  

To switch to the beta branch: right-click on Dum-Dum in your Steam game list, choose Properties, click on the Betas tab, and select "beta" from the drop-down list.

A couple new additions this week:

• A new program Window+ expands the number of windows Hogo OS 1985 Edition can open at once, from three to eight! It is a reward for completing the main story, at which point it will appear in the Store with enough credit to download it.
  
• The Hogonet site for the "Amazing Hogonet Magician" can be found in the "Hogonet Site List" book.
  

Dum-Dum now has a beta branch. New features will initially be added here, tested for a week or two, then moved to the main branch. We currently have several new additions:

• A new Hogonet site for Smellco, a company founded by a disgruntled Hogo ex-employee. Find its address in the "Hogonet Site List" book.
  
• A new mini-quest related to Smellco. Completing it results in a new achievement "Sweet Smell of Success"
  
• Testing background wallpaper themes with images. Use the Basic Box command "DESKTOPTHEME 1" to see an autumn theme, or "DESKTOPTHEME 0" to revert to the default desktop.
