Hotfix 22/02/23

Fixes:

Fix issue where charts may not initialize properly and some text may not appear if the Windows system language is not yet supported by the game.

Small Hotfix - 19th January 2023

PATCH NOTES

Fix: The species preview window flickers occasionally when there are lots of creatures.

Fix: If the first spawned member of the species is instantly removed due to physics instability or throws an exception, the diet of the species may be set to 'Any' and it will not feed properly.

Fix: If the player deselects a creature while renaming its species, the rename species menu is remains visible but does not respond correctly.

Fix: In some circumstances, hard caps are not displayed in the species info menu, even though they are enabled and can be seen in the evolutionary toolbox.

Do not refund life points for a nonviable species if hard population caps are on, since they will bring the species back to life.

Evolution Sandbox+ Update Moving from Open Beta To Full Release!

PATCH NOTES

Previewed species no longer re-randomize when the player clicks spawn or reopens the menu.

Fix: When clicking on the "Hide/Show HUD" key binding button, it incorrectly sets the "Quickload" key binding.

Fix: The player is prevented from setting a key binding to the F1 through F12 keys, even though Quicksave and Quickload are rebindable and are by default F8 & F9.

Fix: On some resolutions, text on the retrain species dialogue does not display and the species preview window is in the wrong location.

Fix: The speed of the preview appearing, rotating, and disappearing is tied to the 0.5/1/2x speed of the game in the lower right hand corner.

Fix: After changing the mating type via the Evolutionary Toolbox, the F5 Species window and the Phylo Tree still displays the previous values.

Fix: If a creature dies while the player changes diet in the Evolutionary Toolbox, the button can stop responding to clicks.

Fix: Under some circumstances the species preview window can get stuck enabled and remain visible in the HUD when no longer relevant.

Fix: If the player cancels after clicking the stored/editor/online animal buttons, the game reselects the forager button, but in an incomplete state.

Fix: 'Nonviable' refund message displays if the player retrains the species due to it incorrectly registering as an extinction.

Fix: If the player spawns species, quickly changes the selected diet type, and then spawns again, the game may the old type rather than the new one.

Open Beta Update

A small update has just been published for the Open Beta which is currently running adding a species preview window as well as a fix for keyboard remapping on different keyboards.

OPEN BETA - Evolution Sandbox+ Update

Hello everyone!

We were hoping our next update would be the previously announced fish heads, however as with all things game development, they're taking longer than anticipated but we wanted to get something out this side of Christmas anyway and Tom has been working on a few more quality of life features for the Evolution Sandbox update which you can find in today's beta update (full patch notes below!) This will be a short open beta and if nothing is found we will move this to the live branch tomorrow!

To access the beta look for the "open beta" branch in the betas tab!

For those who don't know what the Evolution Sandbox update is, here is a deep dive we did which covers the update in a lot of detail:

Thanks you to all our players for playing through 2022 and we're looking forward to bringing you more updates in the new year, along with the head update!

Have a great Christmas break and see you all in the new year!

PATCH NOTES

v0.29

FEATURES

Add option to the creature menu to spawn, instead of several species at once, only a single species with a preview of what it will look like, with only its mutating early on.

Add 'Retrain' button to interaction menu, which resets a species to an immature state, focusing on basic swimming.

Add 'Protect' button to interaction menu, which automatically toggles hard population caps to keep a species alive.

Diet can now be changed from the evolutionary toolbox.

Stored creatures will spawn as mature if they were mature when saved.

New particle effects for speciate, protect, and retrain, and tooltips now better explain what they do.

FIXES:

Fix: eggs could persist if a creature died from genetic disease extremely early in its life.

Fix: selection box could get stuck as red after dragging a creature.

Fix: game unpauses if you click 'Return' from the in-game main menu, even if it was paused before.
