v1.21 Patch Notes

Hello,

We are releasing a patch that addresses a number of bugs, two of which have been real thorns in our side since launch. :)

Bug Fixes
  • Overhauled status effect code to solve lingering effects (Blessed Clasp, Drill, Tear Gas were frequent examples of this)
  • Experimental workaround for memory overflow on large, empty stages
  • Fixed Gold Digger having an unintended effect on max cost (this should also take care of a related Blacksmith crash)
  • Fixed Chisel destroying objects instead of upgrading them
  • Fixed two crashes related to Nightcap
  • Fixed Tongs not properly saving results to file
  • Fixed Divine Simple Robe crash
  • Fixed crash when trying to apply empty aspect ratio
  • Fixed Polar Bro avatar description
  • Can no longer pick up loot etc. while the Help screen is open
  • Fixed total Holograph count in the Customize screen
  • Speculative fix for crash related to freezeframes and sawblades
  • Android: the prestige button now operates on a longtap in order to let players read the UI tooltip


Developer notes: The first two notes involved a fairly substantial restructuring of code, so it's possible they may have some unintended side effects - we are prepared to release a hotfix today if necessary.

Hotfix #1 @ 5:46 PM: Tongs should work again.

v1.19 Patch Notes

Hello!

We are releasing a patch today to address a number of bugs discovered by the community.

There are still a few known issues we need to sort out, but for now we're going to switch gears and start working on a special event for the holidays - we hope you're looking forward to it!

Bug Fixes
  • Experimental optimizations for cell draw event
  • Fixed Smog crash
  • Fixed a few issues with orbs not staying destroyed between quest loads
  • "Spend coin" effects will no longer trigger in cases where insufficient coins were spent
  • Fixed an issue that could prevent bosses from picking up dark hearts while moving
  • Fixed Badge of Honor effect not persisting between loads
  • Right-clicking a cell while holding a magic item will no longer cause the cell to become flagged
  • Fixed monster name becoming "49" after popping out of a bubble
  • Speculative fix for a crash that occurred when a sawblade tried to blow up a cell or object that no longer existed

v1.18 Patch Notes

Hi everyone!



We're releasing a new patch with a couple requested features, some mastery buffs, and a bunch of bug fixes. Enjoy!

New Features
  • Rewrote "check win" script to allow for stage completion without flagging
  • Elders will now state your mastery's ultimate ability in their tooltip


Developer notes: Many of you have been requesting no-flag support from day one. :) However, due to all of the crazy mechanics in DemonCrawl, it was not as simple to remove flags from the win state check as it would have been in a normal minesweeper client. Therefore, we are going to closely monitor this change to ensure it hasn't reduced overall game performance or created any weird bugs. If you run into any softlocks with the board state, please let us know and we'll take a look ASAP.

Balance Changes
  • Commander I: "Spawn a familiar in the first cell you open each stage." → "Right-click to recruit a familiar to an empty cell for 5 coins."
  • Commander II: "Whenever you collect a coin, if you have fewer than 3 familiars, spawn a familiar in its place." → "Whenever you collect loot, upgrade all nearby familiars to strong familiars."
  • Survivor III: "[0/3] Gain 1 max life." → "[0/3] Solve a number of cells equal to your missing life."
  • Survivor II and the Celestial Stage mod will no longer convert dark hearts to souls; Transcendence still does


Developer notes: We have overhauled Survivor III in order to help it synergize with the recently-reworked Survivor II. We're also giving Commander a sizable buff by allowing you to choose exactly where your familiars will spawn.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when the freezeframe banner tried to draw a sprite that no longer existed
  • Fixed Spy II not working after reloading a stage
  • Fixed a crash when using Infinity Key to finish a quest
  • Spawners in Bubbles will now maintain their gray, statue-y appearance
  • Fixed softlock between Nightmare mod and frozen cells
  • Fixed a crash from using Pendulum on a value greater than your number of orbs
  • Added safety check to see if a cell is occupied before forcing a loot drop (e.g. Vampiric Blade)
  • Added safety check to kill_object script to prevent rare crash

v1.17 Patch Notes

Hello! We are releasing a small patch to address several bugs discovered by the community.

Balance Changes
  • "Reveal" effects can now remove Frozen aura from the affected cell (incidentally, this should fix a source of an inaccurate monster count)


Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when using Purify with an Earthblock
  • Fixed a crash related to the "TREASON" Hero Trial effect activating in the overworld
  • Added safety check for magic items that can be displaced before their mana is depleted on use
  • Speculative fix for rare Prizebox corruption
  • Android only: item crafting now operates on a longtap, allowing you to see the crafting requirements before proceeding
