Let’s Design!
Ossu!
Hello again! Today we are going to introduce you to the part of a team working on Japanese Drift Master, more specifically our Designers! Each of them has an important role in our project, as our game has an open world. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to them and their work.
Damian
3D Graphic Designer with over 12 years of experience. He started his career creating architectural visuals and spent the next 7 years working as a 3D modeler for TurboSquid, where he gained experience in texturing, mapping, and rendering. In 2016 he started working in game development, on ambitious projects like "Arktika.1 VR", "Metro Exodus" and "Memories Of Mars". At JDM, his main task is to fill the world with realistic 3D models, creating routes and tracks that take your breath away! He has a long-standing interest in Japan and is a fan of manga and anime, so titles such as Initial D and Wangan Midnight are no strangers to him! The biggest challenge he faced with JDM was finding a balance, as there are a lot of ideas, but as they say - sometimes you have to make some compromises ;)
Tomasz
Enthusiastic about cars, photography, video, and editing. His adventure with 3D graphics began with racing games. At JDM, he was initially only involved in creating car models, but as he acquired new knowledge and skills, it was time to play with the Unreal Engine. Currently, he is mainly involved in level design and creating objects that best reflect the charm and atmosphere of Japan. Using the experience gained from many hours of playing sim racing games, he tries to get the best possible shapes and gradients for the corners, which also involves dozens of runs of such sequences - all to your utmost satisfaction. At every stage of development, he spends a lot of time looking at and analyzing Japanese areas and buildings in order to recreate them in the best possible way in the game. As he has said himself, he pays great attention to the smallest details to ensure that JDM is appreciated and warmly welcomed by all racing game enthusiasts.
Jakub “Vorthan”
Gaming enthusiast, member of a former eSports team in League of Legends. Working on Japanese Drift Master, this is his debut as a level designer. He first became interested in 3D graphics during his studies but knew immediately that this was what he wanted to do with his career. His work is mainly driven by his imagination and creativity, and there is always a touch of madness in the areas he is responsible for. In his spare time, he volunteers at various conventions and has been one of the organizers of Skiercon for the past two years. He has also taken up cosplay and continues to develop his passions and interests.
Dawid
Sound designer with 10 years of experience, creator of some of the sounds for JDM. His credits include the vehicle recording for Cyberpunk 2077. Of the titles that have had a major influence on his work, NFS Underground 2 is definitely at the top of the list. It is this project that has now led him to dedicate himself to working on virtual cars. With the purchase of a Mazda MX-5 (later RX-8), which he drives in Time Attack mode at various track events - including the JDM Track Day, which he co-organizes - motoring has finally entered his life. He has a long-standing interest in Japanese culture, food and continues to perfect his art of cooking ramen. When asked what he found most challenging about the project, he replied, "There are more challenges in making a JDM than there are in making limited editions of the Miata (if you are interested in Mazdas, this joke is for you). Classically, with sound, the biggest problem is creating a coherent world to emphasize the overall atmosphere of the game.
Adam
3D/2D graphic designer with 22 years of experience. He started printing, and designing fridges while developing his skills in modeling and creating architectural visuals. In his career, he has created 2D illustrations along with assets for hidden object games, 3D assets, and concept art. In 2015, he landed at Vivid Games, where he developed his expertise in game optimization, character creation, and UI. He has been immersed in the world of games since the '80s when he discovered titles such as Super Hang On and R-type, but his biggest inspiration came from the games Final Fantasy 7 and Gran Turismo, which introduced him to the atmosphere and culture of Japan. A big fan of Japanese cars, including the Mazda RX7 and Honda NSX. He has been involved with Japanese Drift Master from the beginning and his main task is to create the world, where he tries to replicate the real locations as well as possible. In addition, he is responsible for all the trees, and plants in the game as well as creating the UI, assets, props, and buildings.
Przemysław
The 3D and 2D graphic designer who started his adventure with sim-racing. He managed to create several cars based on laser scanning technology, as well as a full-scale Polish racetrack. For the last few years, he has been developing his skills as a graphic artist and designer. In Japanese Drift Master he is responsible for the cars, tuning parts, as well as the creation and quality of the presented world. Privately, he is a lover of motoring, reworking, and restoring old cars. In the devlog "Let's Scan", you will find more information about its work.

Known as BananaBoy, a fan of Japanese car culture, an amateur drifter and mechanic, and owner of several JDM cars. He has never been involved in game development before but wants to share his true automotive passion in his work. You can read more about his interests and hobbies in the previous devlog!

Our game is made first and foremost out of passion and love for cars and Japan. As mentioned in our answers, we are not a AAA studio that produces a lot of titles, our dream is to create and develop our game together with the players. Japanese Drift Master is more than just a game to us personally, and we hope that after the release you will see how much heart we have put into this production.
If you want to talk to our developers, you can join our Discord where you can ask them questions and make suggestions. Remember to add JDM to your wishlist on Steam to stay up to date! See you in the next devlog.
