Perks, Profits & Questionable Life Choices - Devlog #6

Hello Officers! 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏻‍♀️
[p]
Every officer dreams of a smooth shift. Fewer suspicious socks. Fewer “creative” passport photos. Fewer moments where you question humanity.[/p][p]Unfortunately, this is Airport Contraband.[/p][p]Our tiny airport can turn into chaos faster than you can say “random body search,” and that’s exactly why Perks exist.[/p]
What Are Perks? 🧩
[p]Perks are your not-so-legal little advantages. You buy them with money earned from completing cartel tasks. The tougher the job, the bigger the payout. The bigger the payout? The juicier the upgrades.[/p][p]Risky assignment? More cash.
More cash? More Perks.
More Perks? Fewer headaches. (In theory.)[/p][p]As you perform clean inspections and earn points, you climb through higher TIERS, unlocking new stations and expanding your operational playground. With great power comes… more paperwork.[/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel]
Mastering the Mini-Games 🏆
[p]Let’s talk examples.[/p][p]In the Body Search minigame, perks like Chill Search forgive mistakes, while Swift Hands reduce the number of required hits. Suddenly, that nervous passenger with six belts and three watches doesn’t seem so intimidating.[/p][p]Then there’s Shallow Pockets, lowering how often the minigame even triggers. Because sometimes, you just want one passenger who isn’t hiding a spoon collection.[/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]And it’s not just about people. Stations like the ID Scanner can also be upgraded. Faster scans. Cleaner reads. Fewer awkward stares while pretending the machine “is still processing.”[/p][p][/p]
Perks let you:
• [p]Speed up procedures[/p]
 • [p]Reduce failure risk[/p]
 • [p]Optimize station performance[/p]
 • [p]Shape your playstyle (strict enforcer or smooth operator?)[/p]
The Roguelike Cherry on Top 🍒
[p]And now for the twist.[/p][p]Lose all three cartel hearts? Game over.[/p][p]But not really.[/p][p]You restart stronger, wiser, and with new meta-upgrade possibilities. Each run builds experience. Each failure unlocks future potential. It’s not losing — it’s “career development.”
[/p][p][/p][p]So go ahead. Take risks. Push TIERs. Upgrade everything.[/p][p]Because in Airport Contraband, mastery isn’t about surviving one shift.[/p][p]It’s about owning the airport.

Cartel Deals: Profit or Punishment? - Devlog #5
Hello Officers! 👮🏻‍♂️👮🏻‍♀️
[p]Welcome back to Airport Contraband, where your airport security career comes with… optional side quests from a cartel. Totally normal workplace stuff.

Every morning before your shift starts, you receive a beautifully passive-aggressive telegram from our “sincere friends.” In it, they outline the daily “favor” they expect. Today’s request? Deliver 2 restricted items to a specific location. Simple. Clean. Slightly illegal.

[/p]
You have two choices: Accept the favor or Refuse the favor. 🔵 🔴
[p]Both options come with consequences. Accepting means extra cash and “proper conduct” points. Refusing? Well… let’s just say the cartel doesn’t send smiley-face stickers.
Once you accept, it’s game on.
Your job is to identify two restricted items during passenger inspections and discreetly deliver them to the Task Collector, who’s conveniently (or ominously) stationed at a location specified in the telegram. Pro tip: memorize that location. Seriously. You do not want to run around the entire map whispering, “Where’s that warehouse again?” while the clock is ticking.

[/p][carousel][/carousel][p]Early tasks are straightforward. Spot a bat? A machete? Easy. Move to tray? Confiscate? Or… repurpose. As days pass, though, things escalate. More passengers. More variables. More information to track. Your memory and focus will need to level up fast if you don’t want to mess things up.

[/p][carousel][/carousel][p]And here’s the twist: you still have your regular duties. Every passenger must be checked thoroughly. The airport doesn’t care about your side hustle.

At the end of the shift, you’ll receive a full Day Summary—earnings, conduct rating, and task completion results. If you played your cards right, everyone’s happy.

Keep your eyes open. Stay sharp. Stay focused.

And everything will go smoothly…

Until it doesn’t 😉

That’s it for today, Officers. See you in the next devlog very soon!
