Suitcase Safari — Welcome to Luggage Search! - Devlog #4

[h2]Hello officers![/h2][p]Another week brings another devlog from the sunny and slightly suspicious world of Airport Contraband.

But before we jump into today’s devlog, we want to share some important news with you.[/p][p]Our playtests will begin on February 6 and run until February 9. Selected players will receive a Steam confirmation on February 6, informing them that they’ve qualified to participate in the tests. So if you’d like to try your luck, make sure to sign up and keep an eye out for that confirmation — and now, let’s get back to the devlog.[/p][p][/p][p]We’re continuing with the passenger inspection path you know. Yes, it starts with Initial Tray, which means “empty your pockets and hope for the best,” and then moves into Body Search, known as “airport yoga with consequences.” Today, we’ll skip the recap since we’ve covered those checkpoints in earlier devlogs.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Now, let’s focus on the next stage of the inspection: Luggage Search.[/p][p]This is where the real adventure begins. A suitcase may look perfectly normal on the outside. Then you open it and find a chaotic display of questionable choices. Your job is simple: unpack everything, inspect it closely, and decide what’s acceptable, what’s forbidden, and what’s outright contraband.[/p][p][/p][p]If you're ever uncertain, don’t take a guess. Use the Item Index. It’s your best friend, your legal guide, and your safety net to avoid letting something through that shouldn’t pass.[/p][p][/p][p]Once you’re sure everything checks out, put the items back, return the luggage, and wish the passenger a pleasant flight.[/p][p][/p][p]Easy? Sure, until the passenger count goes up, the variety of items expands, the clock starts ticking, and you realize that the sweat dripping from your forehead isn’t just due to the island heat.

~We hope you like our little airport, and we look forward to seeing you in the next devlog, salute.

[/p][p][/p][p]And for all Gas Station Simulator fans — we’re launching a special community spotlight event, where you’ll have a chance to win a key to any Gas Station Simulator DLC of your choice. Keep an eye on our Steam page for details and take part![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]P.S. Fans of police-themed gameplay might want to wishlist Police Chief Simulator, a project from our friends at Perfect Circle Team.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p][/p]

Deep Pockets, Deeper Problems — Body Search - Devlog #3

[h2]Hello officers,[/h2][p]We’re back with another Airport Contraband devlog![/p][p]In the previous entry (you can find it here), we shared what life looks like for an airport officer dropped onto a tiny Caldora Island with no training. The job agency that sent you here doesn’t believe in “instructions.”

Fortunately, you won’t be alone. Your mentor, José, is here to train you on the job. It will be fast, practical, and chaotic enough to keep things interesting.[/p][p][/p][p]Now that you’ve seen what passengers can do (spoiler: everything), it’s time for the next checkpoint: Body Search. This is where every detail counts, and where you’ll discover that some travelers have pockets that might as well be alternate dimensions.
[/p][p][/p][p]Not sure what you found? Double-check it in the Item Index before you decide if it’s legal, suspicious, or “definitely not something you bring on a flight.”[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Once the search is done, take another look at the Item Index. Was it contraband worth confiscating, or just a disappointing false alarm?[/p][p]As the saying goes, the devil is in the details. Stay sharp. Every inspection is unique, and mischief always strikes at the worst possible time.[/p][p]~ See you in the next devlog, salute.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]P.S. If law enforcement themes are your thing, take a look at Police Chief Simulator, currently in the works by our friends at Perfect Circle Team.[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Visual Upgrade – Before & After - Devlog #2

[h2]Hello Officers,[/h2][p]
We’ve been deep in the trenches polishing the world of Airport Contraband, and today we’re excited to share a Before & After look at one of our biggest visual upgrades so far.

This update started with a full landscape rework — reshaping terrain, improving composition, and making the environment feel more natural and grounded. From there, we revisited our vistas, rebuilding long-distance views to create stronger silhouettes, better depth, and more cinematic framing no matter where you stand.

To bring everything to life, we introduced new foliage and a completely revamped lighting setup. The goal wasn’t just “prettier visuals” — it was mood, readability, and atmosphere. A huge part of this pass focused on color balance and lighting direction, ensuring scenes feel consistent and intentional across the entire map.

We also reworked textures and materials, implementing new content that properly respects Physically Based Rendering (PBR). This means more believable surfaces, better response to light, and richer detail without sacrificing clarity.

See you soon in the next devlog! In the meantime, we also want to let you know that Gas Station Simulator is taking part in the Laughs and Smiles Festival — go check it out and show it some love!

[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]P.S. If you like security and police themes, check out Police Chief Simulator, which our friends at Perfect Circle Team are working on.[/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]
