v0.30 - Environmental hazards in caves, buff weapons and more

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great start to 2025 :D

Necesse Version 0.30 is now live!

And alongside this update we've also launched the first ever Necesse Steam Free weekend!

Now let's take a look at the update!
As I talked about in the last update, we've focused more on making the progression and exploration less repetitive. This time around we’ve added new hazards to the snow, swamp and desert caves. The Deep caves will receive a similar treatment in a future update.



In the spirit of the Free Weekend and co-op play, we’ve also added 4 new staves that specialize in buffing your allies. But if you prefer to play solo, you can also give them to your settlers. If you enjoy playing a supportive playstyle, then these staves are for you!



And other smaller changes, like a new critter when exploring the caves along with a new crop and some food. This will make it harder to run out of food while deep in the caves :)



Some of the other features in this update include:
  • The Hoverboard now better handling and a dash ability!
  • Several gravel tiles that couldn't be crafted before, are now craftable.
  • More gems will now drop from the crystal mini biomes.

Added frozen groups of enemies that spawn in snow caves.
Added quicksand pools to desert caves.
Added swamp spores and poison clouds to swamp caves.
Added Cave Croppler critter to caves.
Added Beet crop and 2 new food recipes.
Added Sapphire Staff buff weapon crafted in Iron Anvil.
Added Amethyst Staff buff weapon crafted in Demonic Anvil.
Added Emerald Staff buff weapon crafted in Tungsten Anvil.
Added Ruby Staff buff weapon crafted in Tungsten Anvil.
Added gravel and sandstone gravel tile recipes to the workstation.
Added crystal gravel tile recipes to the landscaping station.
Added dash ability to the Hoverboard.

Increased the max speed of the Hoverboard slightly.
Decreased the max speed of Witch Broom slightly.
Buffed miners stew and made it require beets.
Small crystal clusters now occasionally drop their respective gems.
Tweaked volume of small crystal cluster sounds.
Increased Sapphire Revolver damage and attack speed.

Fixed bombs not exploding if you change your level after having thrown them.
Fixed removing objects on tiles with other multi tile objects sometimes making stuff disappear.
Fixed swamp stone path one tile vertical texture.
Fixed removing logic gates not clearing their output to wires.
Fixed storage config low/lower and high/higher names being swapped.
Fixed incursion portals sometimes not rendering when placed on top of carpets.
