One Apex Legends Vantage main has hit 1,000 kills in 30 hours

We know we can't exactly speak for everyone who plays Apex Legends, but it's safe to say that Vantage has made her mark on the popular battle royale already by offering players a unique kit with both mobility and long-range precision at the forefront of its design. Whether you like Vantage or not, you might be surprised to learn that one player has already racked up 1,000 kills with Vantage in Apex Legends Season 14 - despite the fact that it hasn't even been a week yet!

On August 11 at 00:39 BST, which works out to be 16:39 PST / 19:39 EST on August 10, Counter Logic Gaming's William 'Vatroh' Fickett announced to the world that he was the first Apex Legends player to hit hit the 1,000 kill marker with new legend Vantage. If this doesn't impress you, allow us to explain why it's actually quite an incredible feat.

In an effort to put this into some sort of perspective, you have to take into account that Vatroh made this announcement to the world a little over 30 hours after Apex Legends' Season 14 update actually dropped.

There's a hidden Titanfall 2 cameo in Apex Legends Season 14

One thing you may have noticed since Apex Legends Season 14 dropped are the mysterious, silhouetted figures being held prisoner in the background of the new lobby, which is set inside the GDS Vantage (y'know, the ship from this Story from the Outlands). Well, a dataminer appears to have found out who is being held captive behind the glass, and they may seem familiar to those who have played Titanfall 2's campaign.

Posting the results of their datamine on Twitter, 'KralRindo' shows the character model used for the prisoners, and amazingly, it's an IMC scientist. The model is wearing the same outfit worn by the scientists during the Titanfall 2 campaign, most notably in the Effect and Cause mission, as was pointed out by 'ApexLMGLover' in the comments.

While Apex Legends is of course set in the same universe as Titanfall and is closely connected, what is a character model from TF2 doing locked up in the Apex lobby? KralRindo believes that this is just simply a convenient asset that Respawn has reused to give the lobby a bit more atmosphere.

Apex Legends' Kings Canyon rework already being slammed by pro players

It's been less than 24 hours since Apex Legends Season 14 went live, and already there are concerns from the game's top players about the decision to include the reworked Kings Canyon in split one of the new ranked season.

Respawn has made significant changes to Kings Canyon's "map health" for Season 14, which includes overhauling some previously campy POIs and improving loot distribution. However, for a lot of top pro players, it seems that the rework hasn't gone far enough to change the fortunes of what is deemed by most to be Apex's worst competitive map. For Cloud9's Zach 'Zach' Mazer, it's clear that Apex Legends' gameplay has evolved too much for Kings Canyon to be viable in the competitive space, although he says he admires Respawn's efforts to cater to the competitive community with the map's updates.

"Dear Apex, Please let KC die a nice death," he says in a tweet. "I respect and admire your effort to keep KC around three years later, however, it doesn't have a comfortable place in your game anymore. Love the constant efforts at making the map playable but we can't find happy ground. Time to move on."
