Communinet Signal #12

Opening Words
[p]Hey there, Sleepers![/p][p]We hope you’re able to take a quick break from running testing stations to take a look at our jampacked Signal, because there are some really exciting things to see with this issue. Some highlights include:[/p]
 • [p]Interesting stats from our latest Community Challenge[/p]
 • [p]Useful tools and websites to help make survival a little easier, along with a new way to get your hands on the Atreides Battle Rifle skin![/p]
 • [p]Gorgeous fanart and screenshots[/p]
 • [p]A short Q&A[/p]
 • [p]Some of your memorable moments shared by you, the community![/p]
[p]Let’s get into it![/p]
Round Up
Patch 1.3.0.0
[p]We’ve been shouting from the tops of the Shield Wall cliffs, so we’re sure you’ve heard all about the big Chapter 3 update. But just in case you’ve had your head in the sand, we released our biggest update yet earlier this month! This came with a bigger and better endgame, overhauled Landsraad, new testing stations with difficulty scaling, specialization and augmentation progression, and a fancy new art banner.[/p][p]But we didn’t stop there! The patches introduced shortly after Chapter 3 also had important changes. This includes adjustments to durability; we’ve reduced durability loss which will assist with alleviating strain when tackling more difficult enemies or content. We also made changes to overall difficulty to testing stations, drillshot rebalance, and more fixes.[/p][p]You can read all the highlights in our blog here as well as the patch notes here.[/p][p][/p]
Community Challenge
[p]We also hosted our very first Community Challenge, Raiders of the Lost Stations. Three milestones were set where we asked you to complete runs through the new testing stations, with each completion counting towards those milestones. And you all SMASHED it. Not only were all three milestones achieved, but the very final stretch goal was as well. Sounds like we may need to add more of a challenge for future ones![/p][p]Due to your hard work, the Sniper Rifle variant and six pieces of the Sentinel Kit are yours for the taking and are available automatically in the game. These will be available to everybody until March 16th, 2026 so you only need to log into the game before then to acquire them. The Battle Rifle variant will be available to claim later on with the 1.3.10.0 patch, and a deadline to claim this will be announced once it’s added. If you miss the window, don’t worry, these will be available again through an in-game vendor in the future![/p][p]Let’s take a look at some interesting stats while we’re here.[/p][p]Global Completions[/p]

With the recent adjustments to difficulty, we hope more of you are able to experience this content alone or in a group. Don’t ever tell yourself that you aren’t strong enough, you’re more powerful than you think![/p]

Q&A
[p]Q: What are the plans for console release?
A: We are still on track to release it later this year! We are currently in the phase of adding PlayStation Activities, Trophies, additional controller features, and ensuring great performance. More information on this will come when ready.[/p][p]Q: Are there any plans to allow the sandcrawler to harvest flour sand?
A: Having this is a little trickier than you’d think! The sandcrawler is coded to just pick up spice, and changing it to allow flour sand isn’t a simple fix. However, it is on our radar and on the list of something we’d like to have in the future.[/p][p]Q: With the Chapter 3 patch, the Landsraad control points were removed. What are the plans for those?
A: The control points were removed as they didn’t fit with the revamped Landsraad balance-wise. They will return in the future at some point, with a more solid purpose. What that purpose is, as well as in what shape or form, we’re not ready to expand on just yet.[/p][p]Q: With taxation being removed, what will happen with the tax collectors in the social hubs?
A: They’ve officially been promoted to Social Hub Decor. If you see them standing around looking lost, please be kind. It’s hard to transition from “Most Hated Person” to “Unemployed Snob in Fancy Clothes” overnight.[/p][p]Q: So what’s the plan now that Chapter 3 is out?
A: The work never stops! We have multiple teams working on all sorts of exciting things. Some are focused on more balance changes, bug fixes, and QoL adjustments. Others are working on future content that we can’t talk about…yet.[/p]
Spice for Thought
[p]In our last Communinet Signal, we asked you to share some of the best moments and memories you had since launch. And while it hasn’t yet been a year since launch, it’s clear the game has made some lasting impressions already on many of you. We aren’t able to include every comment in this issue, so we implore you to read more of them on the Reddit thread here, and on the Discord thread.[/p]

[p]Story[/p]
[p]Name[/p]
[p]I was able to join a Testing Station run, way ahead of my skill level would have allowed. Died multiple times, but the others never held it against me. I was completely overwhelmed. A week later, one of those other players reached out directly and offered a full set of Executor blueprints. "Seemed like you could use it. The only thing I ask, continue to pay it forward". This was a turning point for me. This lead to me leveling up quickly, participating more and making a LOT of friends. We all continue to pay it forward and look out for each other.[/p]
[p]Abid1ng Dude[/p]
[p]The first time you crossover from the Southern spawn region on a bike. The adrenaline spiking from the sandworms.[/p]
[p]Nice-Ad-2792[/p]
[p]I'll never forget the first time I had a worm staredown at me. It was surreal. I had to just stop and take it in for a second. Definitely didn't expect such a thing to be in the game and happy it is.[/p][p]Alternatively, during the live event with the crashed ships and turrets, me and my buddy were cruising around on some bikes and my buddy gets absolutely clocked by one of those ships coming down by sheer chance. We were dying laughing for a good 10 minutes. It was the best.[/p]
[p]AHeadlessHat[/p]
[p]For a very long time on my server, server Stygia, there was a guild that would patrol the pvp zone daily stopping other guilds from harvesting spice or other pvp zone resources. Being a pvper myself, I decided to spend my time gathering together anyone and everyone capable of fighting back who wanted to see this powerful guild gone.[/p][p]I think my favorite memory was when I finally gathered together a strong enough force to fight back against this guild, taking down their carrier for the first time after they had taken down so many others, really giving them a taste of their own medicine![/p][p]I even made this into a video here:
WE BLEW UP THEIR CARRIER - Dune: Awakening (Part 4)[/p]
[p]Argoniumite[/p]
[p]Me and 15 of the boys all flying out for the first time in a swarm of armed ornithopters into the DD to set up bases.”[/p]
[p]Fluffydonkeys[/p]
[p]My first spice harvest in the Hagga Basin was a memorable one. It was an unplanned harvest, as I stumbled on a small spicefield close to solid rock while riding my sandbike. I parked the sandbike in a safe spot, walked over and took out my compactor. But something was off. The spice was bubbling and the compactor didn't work. "Okay", I thought, and ran back to continue my ride. As it happened I saw another player on his sandbike riding towards that same spicefield. "Good luck, you won't get much out of that", I thought and drove off, thinking no more of it.[/p][p]Then it happened.[/p][p]BOOOOM! With a explosion that shook the ground the bubbling spice exploded! A turbulent purple flashing smokestack rose high! And I swear I saw that other player and his sandbike fly high into the sky as well! I rode back to see what had happened and found a ready to be harvested spicebloom, but no sign of that player. That's when I learned the bubbling spice is dangerous, and that's when I compacted my first spice sand.[/p]
[p]Herr Wahnsinn[/p]
[p]So I say this as someone who loves the ground vehicles and sandworm terror.[/p][p]The first time taking off in my new thopter and realizing I could just pop over and turn that quest in and pop back. No route planning or watching for CHOAM or double checking the quicksand.[/p][p]It's such a visceral feeling that you've progressed in this world.[/p]
[p]ZakuIII[/p]
[p]It's hard to describe if you haven't played it, but standing face to face with a sandworm, inches away from perma-losing all my gear and resources but having made it to the rocks just in the nick of time, bindu-sprinting through sand that was starting to collapse under my feet... And then turning around and seeing that fiery maw filling up my whole field of vision... Damn. That's when I knew I'd be coming back again and again. ~500h and I'm still shaking in my boots every time I cross the open sand[/p]

[p]For me it's been building new bases! I'm part of the small community of tax haven enthusiasts that try to fit as much as possible in basic sub-fief as a challenge. As we feel the emperor has enough Solari.[/p][p][/p]
[p]EpicPlants[/p]
[p]A couple of weeks ago, my partner and I spotted an abandoned base on our sietch and we patiently waited for the console to get destroyed so we could take it over and loot the containers and whatnot. We carefully planned the whole operation - brought scrap metal for the sub-fief console, brought two buggies and both our scout ornis, even calculated the exact spot to place the console for maximum coverage. We even set timers after each sandstorm so we know when to be ready in case the next one would destroy the console.[/p][p]There was another player who was staking out the same crumbling base, skulking on the lower level while the two of us were comfortably installed upstairs next to the console. All three of us waited patiently for hours for that thing to pop. When it finally did, I was faster on the draw with placing the sub-fief, and then both me and my partner rushed to the other side of the unclaimed base to loot those containers (one had 500 spice melange). Then we started methodically looting the claimed base, except that other player was still lurking nearby and swooping in whenever we dropped something on the floor. I built walls around everything, but I missed a couple of spots where there were straight walls on top of a rounded corner foundation, so there was a small space.[/p][p]This player literally crawled through these holes in the floor, and we couldn't figure out how they kept getting into our base! And every time we dropped something because our inventory was too full, they would swoop in, pick it up and then skitter through the floor hole again. This was absolutely hilarious, and we nicknamed them "the spice squirrel".[/p][p]Spice squirrel, good on you, I hope you got some good loots as well.[/p]
[p]Kittenmancer[/p]
[p]One of my favorite moments so far was when me, my alliance and the coalition of more alliances (Strides) travelled with our two Carriers and Sandcrawlers deep into the DD to gather spice. We were around 25 people with good gear and thopters. We brought some assaults and many scouts (since they were incredibly strong at that time). We scouted ahead, everything looked good. Then we landed the Sandcrawlers, and suddenly, the sky turned dark from all the Harkonnen scouts diving from above.[/p][p]They lit up the ground, quickly dismantling one of our Sandcrawlers. We panicked and started to scramble everyone together, trying to get in some sort of formation. But it was total chaos. We started fighting back downing some of them. The carrier that dropped the first Sandcrawler got up a little bit but got pretty blasted and then multiple scouts stood on it to get it eaten by a worm. I was flying the other Carrier, and pretty quickly decided to abandon the other Sandcrawler to its fate. We had two of our Assaults flying above the Carrier to block shots and bumps from the enemy scouts. Many players had lost their thopters and suddenly a small island in the sand became a huge ground PvP area. I barely managed to escape with the Carrier. We lost many scouts and assaults that day. There were some really great ground battles with air explosions happening above.[/p]
[p]MCAppear[/p]
[p]My first time in a deep desert testing station, I was down to the skin of my teeth when two lovely lads swooped in out of nowhere and helped me clean shop. I was sure I was dead because I was in the PvP zone, but they actually invited me to their party and helped me clear a couple more dungeons! They even invited me to their guild![/p]
[p]Inqeuet[/p]
[p]New core memory unlocked: Solo harvesting during a massive blow on Xmas. Between the screen being solid purple and the wind blocking all audio, I was flying completely blind. No clue if a worm was about to ruin my day or if I was being hunted. But it was Christmas, so naturally, I full-sent it. 10/10 would risk it all for the Spice again.[/p][p][/p]
[p]LNZERO[/p]
[p]At the beginning of the game, the guildmates and me found a crashed thopter up on a small rock island a short ways from the larger crashed ship. It had a constellation chest that always had some piece of Aren's equipment. I thought this was interesting, but didn't put too much time into it.[/p][p]Over a hundred hours later, I finally read the description for Mendia's armor and realized that there's a whole story we never see, but played out across the sands. I really loved that feeling of the world having a secret history and would love to see even more of it.[/p]
[p]SirSureal[/p]
[p]I've had the pleasure of meeting people here and traveling to their sietch and their base to build the Maud'Dib terrarium for them. Met some really cool people, and I hope I continue to![/p]
[p]AdmDuarte[/p]
[p]Just finished harvesting a spice blow and not a second after I got in my thopter, this spaceship decides to almost kill me on its way down!! Please... stop this senseless war... I am but a simple spice farmer (who stabs a lot)!![/p][p] [/p]

Closing Words
[p]And here we are, you made it to the end! We absolutely love showing off and celebrating stories, screenshots, and everything in between that you all share. It makes the Dune: Awakening team so happy to see you all enjoying what we’ve put our heart and soul into, and we’re so excited for you to see what we have in store. We’re focusing on making additional content including new Landsraad locations and new replayable missions. More on all of this soon![/p][p]Until next time![/p]
