Game price is not going up
Hi everyone!
So when I first released Memoirs into Early Access, I originally planned to raise the price of the game when it was complete. Especially with rising inflation and everything else happening in the world right now, it seemed like the right thing to do.
But then I thought about it again, and I would rather the game stayed affordable. Inflation is making it hard on everybody and lots of people are struggling.
I have a history of underpricing my games, and I don’t mind. If it means that somebody can enjoy my games without breaking their wallet, that makes me happy.
Like I posted on my first ever game released on Steam:
I believe in a commitment to the players, both in quality and in value. I believe that no gamer should ever feel like they didn’t get the value they expected for a game, especially when it comes to a digital product. As a hobbyist dev, I am not bound to shareholders to deliver profits - I make games because I want to. And I release games because I want others to enjoy them. This is something that the wider AAA games industry has forgotten. Instead of draining every last cent with DLC and loot boxes, I create finished games for a decent price.
I think a full price of 19.99 USD is a reasonable number for Memoirs.
So this and other reasons convinced me to not increase the price. And there will probably be a small launch sale too.
