The 4th of July Event... ish

[h2]HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE![/h2]

What's up guys, if you've just joined us in the Summer of 2022 and are wondering WFT this shit is, we'd like to welcome you to one of our limited-time-only "events".

ːws_damanː To activate the event you've got to be at least level 10, playing on Wack or above, and on Average or above difficulty setting.

ːws_damanː The 4th of July event will be active for the next 48 hours or until you finish all the event tasks (whichever comes first). Fire up the Mission Control app for further instructions.

ːws_damanː Sorry for the eagle, there is no eagle, the eagle's been working in close proximity with Chris who just got covid... again, so both of them are gonna have to quarantine and chill for a bit. But rest assured, the eagle is gonna be back...

ːws_damanː And if you're not into it, switch to "Chill" difficulty setting till the 6th.

[h2]OTHER STUFF N THINGS N S**T[/h2]

ːws_damanː Fixed most if not all of the longboard/cruiser issues, though you still shouldn't try to attempt Red Bong, Green Bong on one of those.

ːws_damanː Expanded the save system to include all the stacked items on picked-up objects when saving & reloading. This way, if you end up glitching out, all the items placed on your grow setup or workstation will end up back in your inventory.

ːws_damanː Fixed the grow setup equipment dupe bug. Shout out to @iGreatWhite for providing a detailed repro case!

ːws_damanː We had to refactor the whole mission tracking system to prevent save file sizes from ballooning late game. With the new system, we've managed to reduce save file sizes by up to 70% and improve read and write speeds across the board.

ːws_damanː Tried to release a native Linux version of the game... What a dumpster fire that was... Once we actually managed to get the native Linux build to run, it ran and looked way worse than the Proton versions so, in the end. we ended up reverting to Windows-only and are planning on keeping it that way.

ːws_damanː Improved performance, reduced RAM usage for all quality settings, and made it possible to run the game on Steam Deck in Wack or Average quality setting,

The Not-An-Update Update

So this week we had a bit of an oopsie when the game crashed the editor and corrupted some project files. Yeah, Weed Shop 3 not only crashes on potato gaming PCs but also on semi-potato development rigs ːws_damanː Anyway, long story short, we had to revert to an older backup and waste days of development time restoring and testing the latest changes to make sure we don't brick the game for everyone else...

So this week's update is mostly just fixes with a couple of new items sprinkled in:

ːws_peaceː Fixed the exploding Jellyfish in Duck, Duck, Dolphin.

ːws_peaceː Patched up the possessed office chair hack in Red Bong, Green Bong.

ːws_peaceː Updated the sales staff AI to not sell strains marked "not for sale" when they run out of stock.

ːws_peaceː Improved the cloud save functionality to better handle corrupt data exceptions.

ːws_peaceː Killed the $1/1G weed rating meta.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the shop PCs from clipping through furniture.

ːws_peaceː Fixed a glitch bricking saves when loading unsupported images on Smart Posters.

ːws_peaceː Added some decorative planters to the Pawn Shop inventory. Weed planted in the decorative pots is for show only, it will be completely ignored by the grow staff and give no yield on harvest.

ːws_peaceː And lastly, added a couple of longboards for cruising on the boardwalk and stuff. They should handle a little bit better than the possessed chair and can be found at the Pawn Shop.

From today, we'll start working on adding new mid-to-late-game tasks to Mission Control as well as Steam Achievements. We are currently taking suggestions for the latter, so if you got some crazy achievement in mind, swing by our discord server and drop it in the #achievement-ideas channel!

The Cloud & Storage Update

[h2]THE CLOUD[/h2]

So this week we had quite a few reports of save files getting corrupted or players overwriting their saves by accident, so we worked on improving the save system. at least to some extent. Here's what's been done:

ːws_peaceː From now on, each manual save will be checked for data corruption and, as long as it's not boned, will be backed up to the Cloud dir.

ːws_peaceː All the save files in the Cloud directory will automatically be synced to Steam Cloud and will be available in the Cloud Backups section of the Save/Load menu.

ːws_peaceː The autosave is also going to be backed up, however, to prevent possible loss of progress, it'll only be restored from a cloud save if the main autosave file is missing. So if you're playing on multiple PCs, use the manual save option to save and load your progress over the cloud.

ːws_peaceː And while we can't do anything about you ignoring the warning prompts and overwriting your save files by accident, we've added an auto-backup feature that'll make a copy of your main save file on an hourly basis. That way the most you'll lose is an hour's worth of grind which is virtually nothing in Weed Shop 3 terms ːws_damanː


[h2]THE STORAGE[/h2]

ːws_peaceː Added a few storage room upgrades to the main shop that can purchase on the Pimp It app.

ːws_peaceː The storage rooms are basically late-game upgrades with the sole purpose of storing your weed and other worthless crap,


[h2]THE FIXES[/h2]

ːws_peaceː Cured Dan's and Vulcan's paint allergies.

ːws_peaceː Fixed an issue with the PhysX engine causing the game to crash on load.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the Dxxber order selection bug.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the weed inventory hud overlay scrolling.

ːws_peaceː Reduced most of the lab equipment prices by up to 50%.

ːws_peaceː And lastly, fixed the rendering issues on HDR monitors... maybe. Don't have an HDR monitor to test on so let us know if the visuals still look funky on your end,

613 Patch Notes

We're kicking this week off with another patch mostly focused on bug fixes and a couple of QOL improvements:

ːws_peaceː Fixed the glitch causing customers to lose respect points when passing by the horse ahem cross-breeding lab.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the shop tourist popularity logic. Now tourists will enter your shop when its combined popularity is at 15% or when the shop has been upgraded to a medium-sized one.

ːws_peaceː Made the new exterior wall upgrades count towards the base popularity.

ːws_peaceː Made preventative supplements stack time instead of potency since they're all at 100% anyway.

ːws_peaceː Replaced a couple of f****d up decorative item models.

ːws_peaceː Updated the Merch manager AI to prevent them from following you around when they're out of inventory.

ːws_peaceː Made the Grow staff ignore all the pots placed outside the bounds of your shop. If you already have a pot placed somewhere random, you'll have to pick it up and put it back down for the fix to kick in.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the glitch making Bongs & Dildos placed in one of the suites disappear.

ːws_peaceː Added a file browser popup to the Smart Posters to make custom image selection a lil' bit easier.

The Extremely Mild Update

In a nutshell, this week's content features expanded painting mechanics and a few more customization options ːws_flagː

[h2]Shop Upgrades[/h2]

ːws_peaceː Added exterior wall upgrades to the Pimp It! app.

ːws_peaceː Added new late-game shop wallpaper & floor options.

ːws_peaceː Reduced prices for most of the early-game shop upgrades.

ːws_peaceː Enabled shop painting mechanics and added new paint-friendly wallpapers and floors.

ːws_peaceː Added smart posters with some premade art and the ability to load local images without the resource suck of the TV.


[h2]Paint Updates[/h2]

ːws_peaceː Added a couple of new paint colors so now you can fast-travel to up to 12 locations.

ːws_peaceː Fixed the bug causing cans of paint to get stuck when teleporting real fast.

ːws_peaceː Even though inflation is through the roof these days, Mr. Person reduced the price of paint by 50%!


[h2]Pawn & Field Updates[/h2]

ːws_peaceː @Cobretti137 has just pawned a bunch of his custom-made paintable shelves & displays that offer even more mid-game shop customization options.

ːws_peaceː Mike Dick Kurts has just returned from Pawn Camp and should be less of a dick when pawning items at 100% probability.

ːws_peaceː The mystery of missing Cannabines when loading into the game has also been solved.
