DevUpdate - Multiplayer is up and running

Hi All,
we have great news!

This was an extremely busy month. Every working hour was dedicated to the implementation of multiplayer.
Hotseat
Our first priority was setting up hotseat especially for family gamers and friends. For those who like to join forces to fight against common enemies from the comfort of their sofa, hotseat games will be the perfect opportunity for leisure game evenings. You can enjoy the game on a large screen in your living room, making your way together through the lands of ancient Greece.

Hotseat is not tailored just for leisure players it can also accommodate competitive players. Those who want to play alongside friends but not necessarily "with" them. Turns are separated by a special screen so that players can change seats without revealing all their cards to other players.
Online multiplayer
Following the successful test runs of hotseat, we started working on an online multiplayer, primarily designed for friends in the virtual world. We introduced a time limit per turn to make sure that all players have equal time to plan their strategy and actions and to ensure a good pace.

What, you don't mind a slow pace? Well, it’s possible to turn off the time limit per turn and grant your opponents whatever time they need.
What to do when one of the players must leave the game? They can easily be replaced with another player or even an AI player.
What if someone new wants to join the game? This is possible too, Imperiums online multiplayer is a robust system that handles all these situations and more!
Playing by email
Next we created an asynchronous multiplayer, also known "Playing by email" (PBEM) for players in different time zones who prefer this option. It is possible to set a time limit per turn, swap players and use all of the other settings that online multiplayer offers in PBEM as well. This can all be done without any email registration or logging into an external system as is common in other games. It is possible to open a game for the public, just for your Steam friends or protected with a password.

But the best is saved for the end!

It is possible to play both online multiplayer and PBEM in combination with hotseat. That means, you can start a hotseat game with your friend on one screen at your home and invite other friends from across the world to join you to make the war for dominance even more interesting. Get ready... this ride will end with the morning light!
