Imperiums: Greek Wars News

DevUpdate - Backstage news

We would like to share news and backstage information from the development of Imperiums. Although it might look like not much is happening at the moment, the opposite is true.

First, we want to brag a little. In the last two weeks we took part in two gaming events: IndieX in Lisbon and DevGamm in Minsk, where we submitted Imperiums into indie game contests among hundreds of contestants; in both cases we were shortlisted as finalists. In Minsk we even got nominated for the Excellence in Game Design prize. This makes us happy because we competed with a version which is now several months old and lacks a number of new features that would make the task of the jury even harder. :)

So, what else has happened? We are slowly closing the alpha test. It helped us identify a number of details that can be improved. The game still needs to be balanced, some rules need to be adjusted, but overall the alpha was a big success for us. The number of bugs and crashes was lower than it usually is in alpha tests, and most of them are already fixed. Besides this, we are replacing placeholders of icons, UI, game sounds and illustrations with new assets. All this is going through its final iteration and we can’t wait to show it to you.

But game development is only part of the job. We are also taking care of marketing and promotion so you can imagine how busy our days are. We are preparing new episodes of the Faction Highlights series where we want to introduce the whole campaign map in detail. The first part was released two weeks ago.

We are also working hard on increasing awareness and visibility of the game by approaching game magazines, websites, Youtubers and community members. If you like what you hear and see, we would be pleased if you help us promote the game by telling your friends and other gamers about it or sharing it on your favourite forums. Every little bit helps!

But what you probably want to know most is what we are working on now and what are our plans for the near future.

Well, the “dev team” has pulled up their sleeves and started implementation of multiplayer. Our alpha testers can’t wait to try their luck against one another. We are also making progress in localization into other languages; if everything goes well, we will also have the game in Russian apart from the already announced language translations. But there is still lot to do so no promises just yet!

We are slowly getting ready for beta where we want to invite larger group of testers. If you would like to participate, you can register here so that you don’t miss the start, or you can follow us on Facebook, Steam or Twitter. The call will go out as soon as we get everything ready.

Well, that’s all for now. We’ll have more news from backstage soon!

Faction highlights series - Intro

The Faction highlight series will introduce you the realm of ancient Greece.

Amphoterus, a nobleman of Akarnania, will be your guide. His passion for history and knowledge of the local situation makes him the right person for this task. Together, you will learn about the geopolitical situation in Greece in 359BC, about the rivalries and animosities of the power-hungry city-states and the big events that shaped the Hellenic world to this day.
