Summer update 3

[h3]In this update:[/h3]

I fixed a lot of bugs.
I won't bore you with all the details, but, for example, the 1927 scenario for the Guangxi CCP group has been significantly cleaned up.

I reworked the mini-map.
It's not a huge change, but it now looks much nicer.

I added the ability to load games while in-game
You no longer need to return to the main menu. (Many of you requested this quality of life feature.)

[h3]What's next?[/h3]

I'm working on a massive content DLC covering the years 1929 to 1933:

*Sino-Soviet War in Manchuria
*Central Plains War
*Japanese invasion of Manchuria

These are just a few of the major events included, as these were turbulent years.

No ETA yet, as this is a huge update, and I'm also heavily committed to the Cold War 2 project.

(And yes, Japan will be playable!)

Summer Patch 2 / Mini map

You now have a minimap of China.

You can display it or hide it, change its side, drag it where you want it, etc...
It is clickable to open provinces map.

Navigating between provinces has never been so easy!

As for all my summer patches, it is for windows only.
Linux and Mac versions will have to wait for September to be updated.

Summer Patch 1

This is summer time, and I am both far from my historical documentation and working on my next project.
Therefore, I will take this occasion to ship only small updates to fix minor issues, instead of more content.

These summer patches are for Windows only; Mac and Linux users will have to wait until September.

In today's patch:

* I reworked the Zhili clique AI for better defense of the Beijing Area.
* I changed the cost of the new relief actions (those that cost 4 QI now only cost 3).
* I fixed the behavior of the "escape" key, taking into account players' feedback.

I am actually remaking that Cold War game for PC. The aim is not only to make a more polished version but also to create a highly moddable game.

Where have my colors gone? / 我的颜色去哪儿了?

The changes in that patch only apply to Windows.
If players like them, Mac OS and Linux will receive them too.

Did you know that the game's author was color-blind?
One might have guessed it given the audacious color choices in the game's UI.

Well... I finally acknowledged that this needed a rework.
The game now has sober colors.



But don't worry, you can still revert to the original UI by selecting the option "Make my eyes bleed!" in the options menu.

I took the opportunity of that patch to add a long-requested feature: the ability to search for a character by name in the Who's Who menu (the one you use to display lists of characters).

Famine Relief Update

The latest patch includes:

  • 5 new actions related to drought and famine management.
  • A reworked 1920 AI, enhancing the defense of Shanghai.


New Famine Relief Actions

Responding to your requests for more options to combat drought, I've introduced 5 new district policies and actions. Most of these actions incur an upkeep cost and are unlocked via the Chamber of Commerce upgrade.

Temporary Relief Societies: Officials and philanthropists will participate in this initiative, undertaking charity and relief efforts. This policy will unlock additional options and reduce the number of bandits generated by drought.

Discounted Sales Granaries: An effective method to supply the district with grain and manage prices. These granaries will reduce the duration of droughts each turn and help restore vitality if it has dropped too low. Like the Temporary Relief Societies, these granaries also reduce the number of bandits created by drought.

Soup Kitchens: Easier to set up than granaries, they will reduce the duration of famine, albeit with lower efficiency and maintenance costs.

Dragon King Rituals: In the game, when the population implores the Dragon King for rain, it never works. However, this action will increase your Face (reputation), tradition, and influence over peasants.

Speculate on Grain: Another action that allows for quick, albeit unethical, earnings by exploiting a district's resources.

Another great change is that from time to time, private initiative will provide relief to a district in distress.

1920 AI Reworked

The AI in the 1920 scenario was ineffective at defending Shanghai. With this rework, the AI will now be more proactive and strategic in its defense.

What's Next?

I have started coding for the 1929-1932 DLC. While I cannot provide a release date yet, progress is underway.
