Friday Progress Report 359

We have been working on the intro cutscene for the Fairy. You will be able to get her as soon as you start the game, all you have to do is to locate Tiana and speak to her once. This will start the Fairy get cutscene, our first NPC event.

Tiana will notice you have the correct mana affinity to resonate with Fairies, something she lost as she became human-sized, so she decides to push her responsibilities on you grant you this wonderful opportunity!

She will lead you to where one of the Fairies went, behind the large tree, the cutomization menu pops up and you will be able to customize the Fairy appearance and name her.

(This screen is still a work in progress)

The fairy will grant you Rockstep magic and you will now have access to 3 aerial jumps, later when we have more Fairies you will be able to choose the Fairy elements so she grants you different movement magic, right now its Rockstep only.

At this first release the fairy will have very simple actions, like pointing at critters you haven't seen before to help you fill your collection, capture small critters on command, and a few clumsy actions like hitting her face on the wall when flying too fast.

Behaviors will be complex sets of actions with different conditions and animations with more significant world and player interactions, a Behavior can be helping the player irrigate crops, poke a frog until it gets angry and tries to eat the fairy, play with poofahs like they were volleyballs, etc... The main difference between Actions and Behaviors is that you will be able to either punish the fairy with cheek pinching or reward her with headpats to change the frequency of the last behavior, so spoiling your fairy with only headpats might lead to a more mischevous little bastard.

During the following weeks we will adding lots of actions and behaviors to the Fairy in small weekly updates, once your first Fairie has all the behaviors we have planned we will start working on the systems required for multiple fairies.
