Friday Progress Report 314

Because of a request from a player my brother decided to check if importing a custom model would be possible, turns out it was much easier than expected, we are testing with the free Unity-chan asset.

To import a custom model you need to make a mod first, the instructions to do so will be on an official guide here on the Steam guides page and the Unity-chan sample model will be available in the workshop

This feature should be available on the alpha build soon, the guide and the sample mod should be up by tomorrow. The imported models cannot however use the clothing system we use on our models.

On my end I have been overhauling the NPC lines so they change if you are playing as Adam, as a custom male character or a custom female character, I finished all NPC lines, just need to make Adam's since he will now become an NPC too, but figuring out what personality I want him to have and how he speaks is very hard, I want him to be intimidating and stoic, but he shouldn't be rude or mean, I also don't want him to have too strong of a personality since he is also supposed to be a silent protagonist when you play as him.

This update should still take at least 2~3 weeks to be released on the main build, maybe more.

Friday Progress Report 313

The beta build with character customization is online, note that there are several pieces of clothing that don't interact well with each other (major clipping). Right now the male model has no alternative parts, so you can only recolor your Adam lookalike, but we will add more male clothing and hair styles soon.

The recolor system is up and you can recolor almost every cloth piece.

We are now working on the NPCs recognizing your character as a custom character with different lines for male and female. Adam will have unique lines due to his intimidating look (the custom male character will not have scars).

When starting the game the player will be able to choose between playing as Adam or a custom character, note that custom characters will not be available on the Demo version, we have decided that paying players deserved something exclusive.

Players loading from older saves will be given an option to customize their characters once by interacting with the Wardrobe furniture (buildable). After customizing your character you can only change clothing.

Custom characters will eventually have a new intro (from first person PoV so it works with any character), when starting the game as a custom character they will be able to meet and interact with Adam that will now be an NPC (romanceable when we implement relationships).
