Update 1.0.1: Bug fixes and Refinements

Hello everyone,

First and foremost thanks a lot for your amazing support. We really appreciate every bit of it. This update contains all the bug fixes and refinements taken place after the release of Farmtale. At the very end you can read more about future plans and what features we want to implement.

[h2]Bug Fixes Since Release[/h2]

Frequent game crashes: A game crash would occur with "Fatal Error!" a couple of times every hour. This was the most frustrating bug to deal with because the crash logs didn't give us clues to what was wrong. Luckily our programmer found the issue 2 days after the launch date.

Not gaining Material while being offline: The offline display would tell you how much Material you received while being offline, but that amount was not added to your Material counter.

Steam achievements not working properly: The achievements were not linked correctly to the events in the game and the counter was not working as intended.

Stopped receiving mails upon relog: When logging off and in for the first time, the player would not receive mails from the mailbox anymore.

Mailbox giving 12 coins sometimes: The mailbox would sometimes give 12 coins during the game which was only supposed to happen during the tutorial.

The pirate ship timer showing -01: When building the pirate ship, the timer would show -01 and would instantly build the pirate ship upon relog.

The pirate ship timer not counting down when being offline: Since the pirate ship build timer is long, it was important that the pirate ship counter still counted down when the player went offline.

Pigs and farmer getting stuck: The pig and the farmer would sometimes get stuck in the large plate item bought from the coin shop.

Scraps not being clickable sometimes: The scraps would sometimes get stuck beneath invisible items and therefore not being lootable anymore.

Water looking white in low resolution: The water shader would be completely white when playing with medium or low texture resolution.

Danish language displayed wrong offline earnings: When selecting the Danish language, the offline earnings would display wrong static numbers for how much Coins and Material were earned while being offline.

We are still missing a bug where an animal will disappear all of a sudden during gameplay but reappear when the player relogs. If you have this bug, please send us a screenshot of your farm and maybe on how your animal disappeared if you observed anything. We want to reproduce the bug. ːsteamfacepalmː

[h2]Refinements Since Release[/h2]

Chicken Farm income reduced: The Chicken Farm was very strong from level 1 till level 100. This made every other farm feel pointless and therefore the income was reduced towards a more balanced gameplay.

Duck Farm income increased: The Duck Farm didn't give enough coins for the cost value and therefore we gave the income a small push.

Workshop experience cost increased: The Workshop was too easy to level up compared to all the other farms. Therefore it has been made more expensive but gives also much more income to compensate for the cost. We understand that other Material sources should be available in the game.

Reduced offline earnings: The amount of currency achieved offline was too high which didn't encourage players to play the game. The amount of currency you get while being offline has been reduced but might need to be rebalanced again.

Golden profit items buffed: The golden items that the player buys from the coin shop for each farm felt pointless because they didn't give a fair amount of coins. They have been buffed by 2.5.

Extended loot radius for every collectable item: Sometimes it felt like you were missing the item, even though you were clicking on it. We increased the looting radius for all collectable items to make them easier to loot. It's not always fun to click the Egg right in the center.

The frequency of mails reduced: The mails popped up too often and the frequency of them has been reduced.

Lowering music volume when achievement sound plays: It always felt a bit of a chaos when both the music and the achievement music were playing on top of each other. Therefore it was best to reduce the music by 50% while the achievement music was playing.

[h2]Future Plans[/h2]
Now that all of the bugs are eliminated, we are focusing on adding new features to Farmtale. It is important for us to add more things to do while the player is waiting for more currency to spend on the pirate ship. Therefore we are currently adding features that will introduce both progression and degression.

Pirate Attacks: Pirates will occasionally discover your farm and attack you!

Tower Defense: Defend yourself against pirate attacks through mouse clicks. But at some point they get too strong and you're better off with a couple of turrets.

Diamond Currency: As you've probably already discovered, Farmtale contains diamonds that can be achieved in several ways. They will be displayed right above the Coins counter and you will be able to spend them on awesome things!

Quests: Complete quests and earn rewards.

Lumberjacks and Scrap Collectors: Hire a lumberjack to cut down trees and Scrap collectors to pick up metal. It is always our priority to make "clicking" stronger than idling. Therefore you will still make faster progress through manual clicks.

Night Workers: When you are offline, your farm is unprotected. You can't keep working all day! Therefore pirates will steal from you while you are offline. Hire Night Workers to protect your offline income.

Fishing: Throw your fishing pole and see what you catch!

Mini Game: You will see what it's all about. But we can say that the longer you reach into the mini game, the more you can brag to your friends.

Wood Collector: Another source that will gain you Material! We think that you shouldn't be limited by only having the Workshop as the Material income source (apart from trees and metal parts). Therefore we are adding a new building.
