Fisherman, Map Expansion, and More!


Happy October! Our team has been very busy lately, but we're here with another Farmtale Update! Thanks to everyone who has been active in the Steam forums, social media, and Discord server!

In light of the new fisherman, we've tweaked the economy and limits of certain buildings and farmers:
-1 farmer hut

-12 farmers
-8 crop farmers
-12 villagers
-6 fisherman

[h3]System Reworks[/h3]

We felt as though players did not have enough sinks to spill their coins in to. To remedy this, we've added wages that you use to pay farmers to do your dirty work! If there is no money deposited, your workers will not work. Be sure to keep them paid!

You can now withdrawl profits from your farmer markets

New Farmer Joins Farmtale!

Once again, thanks to everyone being active in the Steam forums, social media, and Discord server. You are helping us greatly with the improvement of Farmtale.

[h3]New Farmer![/h3]
We have finally added the much-needed farmer in Farmtale! You can now automate crop farms by building the Crop House. The farmer will water the crops for you as well as harvest them whenever they fully grow. No more finger pain from clicking!

[h3]Bug Fixes & Improvements[/h3]
- Greatly optimizes the game including GPU optimization.

- Animal products will now drop in path-able areas which will prevent farmers from getting stuck and doing nothing.

- These buildings will now ramp up in price for each time they are built: Scrap Collector, Farmer Hut and Crop House

- Players would have memory crashes and issues. This is hopefully fixed. No recent reports of this.

- Boosts are now counting in the Steam Achievements.

- The camera is now panning correctly in the 1440p resolution.

- Items in the marketplace would disappear if the marketplace is picked up.

- Non-repurchasable items would be lost forever if recycled or sold.

- The Daily Chest will now close after being opened (visual bug)

- There was an invisible tooltip making sounds when hovered with the mouse cursor.

- Visual improvements including the light sources at night-time.

- The inventory has now a scroll bar just in case you have a lot of items in your inventory.

- Q and E will now rotate the camera.

- R and F will now zoom in and out the camera (the + and - key will also be added tomorrow)

- Portuguese language is now working

Farmtale v. 2.0.1 - Music Pack, Bug Fixes & Improvements

We have added further improvements to Farmtale, both Quality of Life improvements as well as bug fixes. Thanks a lot for reporting any bugs that you may come by. Or any frustrating gameplay mechanic you want to see improved. We will do our best to make this game better day by day.

[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
- Farmers could get stuck in the ocean water. The building radius is reduced slightly to not spawn farmers in the water.

- Farmers could be "confused" and stand there doing nothing for no reason.

- Sometimes the reassigning of farmers did not work.

- Sometimes you would get a message saying "Can't build because it's blocking the path" even though that was not the case.

- You could pick up a building while building in progress

- Animals would sometimes be invisible when reaching level 3 feed level.

- All translations have been fixed (with possibly one or two words still missing)

- Fixed the memory crash issue when using the Experience Boost and Speed Boost. These are again enabled in the game.

- The Cosmetics Ship and Santa would for some reason not appear anymore in the mid-game. They have found their way back to the island again.

- Quest tracking has been optimized and will disable tracking when completed to decrease lag for the overall game. The game will run slightly faster.

- Removed lag when collecting Material, both from trees and from the Scrap Collectors.



[h3]Quality of Life Improvements[/h3]
- The game camera can now be rotated using the + and - button.

- You can now use Q and E to zoom in and out

- Completed quests will now appear at the top of the quest list and disappear to the bottom when you claim the reward.

- Added an arrow above the building in "Building Mode" to show you what is the front of the building for a better user experience.

- You can now change between the tools in the toolbar using the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 keys on your keyboard.

- Added a "Sell all items in category" in the top part of your inventory. Pressing the button will make it possible for you to sell all items in that category instead of one by one. This is especially useful for the animal products.



[h3]Things that are maybe fixed[/h3]
- You would get a memory crash when planting a large crop farm. This has to yet be tested as it might have been fixed when fixing the Boosts and the quest tracking optimization.

- The information pop-up to the bottom left would "flash" for one second and disappear.



[h3]Planned to-do list[/h3]
- Add an option to feed the animals through the Wardrobe view.

- Make the farmers water the crops for you.

- Display all achievements even when they are not completed.

- Make the tutorial more in-depth

- Add the ability to change mouse sensitivity

- Add the ability to use a default mouse cursor

- Add Tower Defense event.

Farmtale v. 2.0.0 - Bug Fixes & Improvements

Thanks to everyone in this community for reporting bugs and suggesting a lot of good improvements. You've been very helpful! We have fixed most of the reported bugs and added quality of life improvements to make the gameplay more enjoyable.

- You can't build on the waterfall rocks anymore.

- You can't build in the ocean anymore.

- The Cosmetic Ship now appears less frequently.

- Removed vine 2D art from the inventory decoration that was blocking the categories.

- Scrap Material value clamped to not get negative value which would bug the game.

- Scrap collectors set to max 12.

- Scrap collector gain amount reduced to about 45%.

- Santa doesn't get stuck on crops anymore.

- Rain would only water crops the first time it rained. Now it works properly. The crops will always get watered when raining.

- You could place Speed & Experience boosts on the map like normal items which was not intended.

- Farmers are now less annoying when you are moving the farm and trying to place it.

- Some of the tree stumps could not be shoveled until you relogged.

- Farmers can now be assigned to work on a specific animal farm instead of closest. This is done by using the Right Mouse Button on the farmer.

- Sometimes scrap collectors could bug and get invisible.

- 2 of the quests were not working.

- 2 of the quests were not saving.

- The items & buildings you place now check if they can be placed before placing them so you don't get a random error.

- When you sell a house or farmer hut, the farmer/villager will now despawn with it.

- Silos increasing drop speed is working again.

- All Steam achievements and counters have been fixed and loads properly.

- Collision on crops increased so it's easier to plant crops. It's less precise.

- Fish doesn't drop things underwater.

- Wood chopping at the beach won't drop the wood under the sand.

- Visual bug with plants showing 4 levels (through icons) is now reduced to 3 levels as intended.

- Great optimization for inventory updates (fixes inventory cards flashing).

- Inventory items were frustrating to drag out. Drag out would be cancelled randomly sometimes.

- Farmers now prioritizes to loot the animal products if there are more than 10 of them on the ground. This will avoid too many items on the ground, lag and crashes.

- The hitbox for feeding animals is slightly increased so feeding animals is less frustrating.

- You can now drop the food on an animal and choose how much you want to feed it. Previously you had to drag the food one by one onto the animal.

- You can now pick up everything and sell it from the inventory by using Right Mouse Button. Shops and farms can't be picked up.

- Fixes inventory to not be click-through and accidentally opening buildings like the barn.

- The Speed & Experience boost timers would show "1 minute" again when it exceeded 60 minutes.

- The used Speed & Experience boosts would disappear and be lost when logging out. They now save properly.

- The Scrap Material amount would display 0 when relogging and correct itself when you gain Scrap Material. Now it shows the correct amount on relogging.

- The camera could get stuck when moving it behind the waterfall rocks.

- The Cosmetic shop would display wrong items that are not present in the shop.

- Assigning farmers to different farms will now save when you quit and rejoin the game.

- You can now have 4 farmers per farmer hut if you upgrade their limit. This will make it so you don't have to build 8+ huts. 2 huts will be sufficient with full upgrades.

- You can now have 4 villagers per house if you upgrade their limit. This way you don't have to build many houses which takes a lot of space.

- You can't use the shovel tool anymore at the loot box area.

- Fixed an exploit where you could sell an item and still place it in your farm.

- The game will give you the Experience gained when your game is minimized and prevent memory crashes.

- Added an experience display on the animal feeding XP bar.

Farmtale Re-designed

First and foremost, thanks a lot to everyone for your great patience. This update has taken time to release as we re-designed the whole core of Farmtale. This is basically a "Farmtale 2" at this point. This was a necessary step we had to take in order to direct the game towards the better as it lacked content previously.

Thanks to our community for all the constructive feedback and bug reports! These are very much appreciated.

[h2]Environment[/h2]

Sandbox Building System
After playing the released version of Farmtale, we thought it will be more fun and unique if the player starts with only the farm area without any buildings or animal farms. From here, the player must design his/her own farm and form a personal adventure. Now you can freely build and decorate your farm from nothing! Remember to post a screenshot of what you've created :-)

Free Camera Rotation
You now have the freedom to move your camera and to different directions by using the [R] button or clicking CTRL + middle mouse button. This makes Farmtale feel like a new game! The main idea is that Farmtale will be a game without many restrictions.

Day & Night System
We added a day and night system to Farmtale. You can purchase lighting from the shop to keep your farm bright.

New Level Design
We re-designed the whole level in Farmtale. We made it look more like a natural environment and you are able to unlock tools that will help you expand your building space. There is plenty of room for your farm decoration.

New Models & Textures
All the models in Farmtale have been re-modelled and re-textured. We wanted a more elevated look in the game, so we moved away from the completely flat modeling and texturing style. With that said, we've also added a lot of new models to the shop. You can freely place every item wherever you want.

New Material Generator Building
The forge and lumber mill has been replaced by the Scrap Collector building. The building will automatically generate Material without a farmer and you can build multiple of them! And you don't even need additional pylons.

[h2]Animal Farms[/h2]

Experience System
Instead of making the experience bars purchasable through Coins and Material, we have added an experience system. Experience bars can no longer be purchased but you can earn experience as the collectable items drop from the animals. Just like an RPG game.

Max Level Change
Max level has been changed from 100 to 50. The currency values and experience has been changed accordingly. It felt too much with 100 levels right from the beginning. We plan on extending the late-game levels with late-game content but this is still to be decided.

Backpack System
The items you collect or purchase from the shops will be added into your backpack. You can sell the items by right-click or by dragging them into the new Marketplace. Or refine them into material through the new refine building we added.

Cooldown System
When an animal drops an item, there will be a cooldown before the animal can begin dropping a new item. The drop times have been lowered too.

Purchasable Animals
Animals will no longer spawn automatically through leveling. They can be purchased through the new Barn building we added.

Farm Stats
Many from our community wished to see stats for their animal farms and this is now added to the game. For each farm, you can view how much experience an item gives, the drop speed and more.

[h2]Shops & Menus[/h2]

Re-designed Coin Shop
The coin shop has been re-designed and all items are viewed through an animated 3D view. All items purchased from the Coin Shop will be added to your backpack. From there, you can drag the item out and place it anywhere you want in your farm.

Build Menu
Instead of buttons around the environment, you can purchase buildings such as animal farms through the build menu. The chosen buildings can freely be placed around the farm. The timers for building your animal farms has been lowered drastically (from hours to a maximum of 5 minutes).

New Upgrade Menu
The previous upgrade system we had felt outdated and simply annoying. Therefore we have designed the upgrades as cards. This means that you'll no longer see hundreds of upgrades in your upgrade window. Only a few upgradable cards!
We have added new upgrades to the menu. This includes Experience upgrades, Cooldown upgrades and more.

Skin Shop
You can now buy skins for coins to your animals! Going into the wardrobe, you can give your animals clothes, hats and several items.

Crops
You can now plant crops and harvest them to either sell them or feed your animals for more rewards.

[h2]Farmers[/h2]

Free Movement
Farmers are now universal and not attached to a specific farm. This means they freely roam outside of the animal farms.

Farmer Limit
With the new farmer system, there is no limit for how many farmers you have. For every Farmer Hut you build, you will get a farmer.

Farmer Upgrades
The farmer upgrades have been removed and their base stats have been increased.

[h2]Questing[/h2]

Questing System
We have added quests to Farmtale. Complete quests and receive rewards for it to help you progress through Farmtale. The final quests will give you something special. A quest tracker will definitely be a good thing to add in the future update.

[h2]Sound[/h2]

New Soundtrack
We've added multiple new soundtracks to Farmtale. The current style is now more chill and relaxing.

Upgraded Sound Effects
All the sound effects has been revised and upgraded into something more fitting.

[h2]VFX, Animation & User Interface[/h2]

New Visual Effects
All of the visual effects has been updated to fit the new style of the game.

New & Upgraded UI Elements
We have added a lot of new UI elements as we've added more features into the game. We have also updated already-made UI into something more advanced.

ESC Button
In the current version, when clicking on the ESC button on your keyboard, it would bring up the ESC Menu. This didn't seem optimal when you already had shop windows open. The ESC button will now close windows before bringing up the Quit menu.

Reset Button
You can choose to reset your progress if you wish. We have added a reset game button in the settings menu.

New Animations
We've added a few new animations to keep up with the current version of Farmtale.

[h2]Achievements[/h2]

New & Updates Achievements
We got a lot of feedback about the achievements being too difficult. And we agree. We have deleted a lot of achievements and reduced the amount. We felt it we had too many achievements popping up and it felt less rewarding if they appeared frequently. We have also made the achievements less difficult so you don't have to collect insane amounts of items and currencies.

[h2]Languages[/h2]

New language added
Brazilian Portuguese has been added as a new language to the game.

[h2]Optimization[/h2]

Better performance
We know that the current game has performance issues and it's putting too much work on the CPU and graphics card. We have re-done all code and kept optimization in mind when designing the new 3D models and programming. We have reduced the usage drastically and it is now at a good performance level. You can now play the game in full quality without adding much work on your hardware.
