Spring Sailing - Easter Event!
Go Egg Hunting on the Seven Seas with Spring Sailing!
Across March and April, we’re celebrating with the seventh Paper Pirates Seasonal Celebration, Spring Sailing! Running from 15th March - 12th April, celebrate the season of spring with a festival of eggs, bunnies, and a whole host of seasonal goodies in Paper Pirates!
Limited Time Costumes
During Spring Sailing, Sam Sherbot has some new outfit options available to unlock in the Outfit Shop! If you buy an outfit option during Spring Sailing, you can wear it all year round - but the items will be disappearing from sale when the event is over, so don’t delay and buy today!

The full list of outfit items available during Valentine Voyages is:
 • Faces - Animal (Easter Bunny)
 • Hands - Animal (Easter Bunny)
 • Shirts - Animal (Easter Bunny)
 • Coats - Egg
 • Coats - Egg (Rainbow)
 • Jacket - Billboard
 • Jacket - Overalls (Upper)
 • Legs - Overalls (Lower)
 • Legs - Animal (Easter Bunny)
 • Feet - Animal (Easter Bunny)
 • Feet - Slippers (Rabbit)

Additionally, during Spring Sailing, pirates have access to five unique hats, available to everyone in voyages started during the event. Once the event’s over, the hats will disappear from your collection until next year, so be sure to wear them while you can!
The “Lucky Egg Hunt” Event!
Go on a sailing adventure during Spring Sailing, and each day there is a chance you may encounter the “Lucky Egg Hunt” event. A random member of the crew gets to pick one egg out of a selection. The eggs all contain events, and whichever egg they choose will instantly trigger that event! All the other pirates on the boat will get a clue, showing them a picture of an egg, and a description of the event that will happen. Make sure you communicate to the egg hunter to let them know what might happen for each egg - but watch out for the ghosts, who might give you a bad description, or tell you fibs about the event squirreled away inside!
Spring Celebrations in the Photo Booth
To celebrate Spring Sailing, there are two limited-time Foils available in the Photo Booth, in the Captain’s Log. Take the opportunity to snap your favourite pirate templates, and share any pics you take!
Spring Sailing Bot
Invite bots into your game during Spring Sailing, and you may encounter Rabbot - our very own pirate-y Easter Bunny, out to help you uncover eggs at sea! Rabbot will only join your games during Spring Sailing, so take the chance to meet them now before they hop away to hibernate for the rest of the year!

3.0.2 Patch

After the launch of update 3.0, the Traitorous Update, we're just pushing some bug fixes that we missed or introduced during the development of 3.0.

 • In Trait games, The Diligent was ending games way too quickly when they were the captain, this was unintended. The Diligent now does not double outcomes when they are the captain, more accurately matching the in-game description.

 • The Auto-Hide Roomcode option was broken by the addition of Spectate mode and would not hide the room code automatically when enabled, this has now been fixed.

 • 3.0.1 also went live a few days ago with some immediate bug fixes, Mac and Linux builds received this update but instead still displayed version number 3.0.0, this has now been fixed in the upgrade to 3.0.2!

Traitorous Update

New Game Mode: Trait Games!
Our third game mode adds another new way to sail on the seven seas! Returning to the original team-based nature of Paper Pirates, the Trait game mode gives you a whole new way to help your team - whether you’re a human, or a ghost!

Traits
At the start of a Trait game, pirates are allocated a unique trait from the eleven traits available. These traits give each pirate a twist on the way they play the game - for example, The Assassin will always vote first in each round of voting, while The Pure cannot ever become a ghost, no matter who they vote for or what actions they take in events. Whether you choose to share your trait with the crew, keep it a secret, or maybe play more sneakily and weave a fishy tale to cover your tracks by lying about your trait, they’re sure to totally change the way that you play.

You can learn about all of the Traits in the Captain’s Log, and when making a Trait in Custom Games you can also choose to include or exclude specific traits based on your own personal preferences!

Innocents
In each game, a number of pirates may be allocated the Innocent Trait. These pirates have no special abilities, but are excellent scapegoats for mischief. If you’re not ready to disclose your Trait yet, or simply want to cause some trouble, you can always claim to be Innocent! In Custom Games, you can use the slider to set a minimum and maximum number of Innocent pirates, to personalise the game to your liking.

Game Spectating
We know that many of you play Paper Pirates remotely, with people who aren’t - or can’t - be with you in person. To help you play together, we’re introducing a spectator game mode. To spectate a game, enter the game’s room code after launching the spectator mode from the main menu while they’re still in the lobby.

To join the game as a pirate, you’ll still need to use the Paper Pirates website (https://paperpirat.es), but now the main screen will be replicated to anyone spectating through their own copy of the Steam game.

We hope that this enables more people to play Paper Pirates together where screen sharing facilities might otherwise be unavailable. Now, to play together, all you need is a copy of the game each and a room code!

Community Bounties
Bounties have levelled up! With 3.0, we’re introducing Community Bounties to Paper Pirates. When a community bounty is active, you’ll see it right at the top of the title screen. These bounties have big goals, and must be completed within a limited time - but the good news is, anyone who plays Paper Pirates during the bounty contributes to the Community Bounty! If everyone completes the bounty before the time’s up, a limited-time reward - such as increased gold rewards - will become available to everyone playing games for the duration of the reward!

The first bounty starts RIGHT NOW, challenging everyone to complete 100 games within seven days. Reaching the goal will unlock a 1.5x coin multiplier to all coins earned for seven days after the bounty’s completion!

Please note that to participate in a Community Bounty, you must have the ‘Collect Anonymous Usage Data’ feature turned on in the Options menu, so that we know you’ve played a game!

And what do the people at home think?
We’ve also added a new way to choose your events when playing in Custom Games! We’ve heard that pirates love when the audience participates, and some of you were always disappointed when each new day passed and the audience’s choice didn’t happen. So the new mode - Audience Choice - ensures that, when an event needs to happen, if you have an audience and they’ve picked events, it’ll always choose one of their choices!

If you select Audience Choice and you don’t have an audience, or they’re feeling a little sheepish about making choices, you’ll get random events as normal. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say!

A Few Other Things
 • New regular bounties are available, asking you to play a number of Trait games, or games with the event selection method set to Audience Choice
 • Three new achievements - and hats! - relating to Trait Games have been added for you to earn
 • Trait Games statistics have been added to the Leaderboard

Bug Fixes
 • Occasionally in Crossing the Gap, the person who fell from the vines could be haunted by their own ghost! Oops! That should no longer be possible, because who’d haunt themselves?!
 • Coloured hats worn by pirates on the docks in Fishing for Treasure sometimes mysteriously looked as if they’d taken on brand new appearances, and didn’t match their true appearance. This should no longer be the case!
 • The achievements ‘Treading Water’ and ‘Greedy for Gold’ were sometimes not correctly granted to players who had moved further from shore, or earned treasure, during their voyage.

Adventures Update

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Adventure Events
Patch 2.8 brings with it a grand sense of adventure, as we introduce a new type of event to Paper Pirates! When an Adventure Event occurs during your journey, the crew temporarily takes a pitstop, engaging in a mini-adventure.

During an adventure, the crew have the chance to pick and choose which events take place, and multiple events will happen in quick succession. It’s an all new way to experience events - and the things that happen on an adventure don’t just stay on the adventure, they’re going to affect your game when you’re back on the ship too!

The Island Adventure
The very first Adventure Event is the Island Adventure, where the crew explore an island they discover way out in the seven seas! Together you have enough resources to explore two regions of the island, so pick wisely which bits of the island you want to see each time you visit!

The island has nine regions in total, which means there are nine new fun-filled events for you to experience as part of the Island Adventure. From fishing off the docks to diving for treasure, whichever activities you try out on your trip to the island it’s sure to shake things up in your game!

As an extra bonus, there are five new achievements relating to the island. Work hard when you’re on an adventure, and maybe you will discover a new hat for your efforts!

Dress for Adventure in the Outfit Shop
Our resident shopkeeper, Sam Sherbot, is already well acquainted with the island, and has stocked up the Outfit Shop with a whole new range of island-themed goodies for you to browse and purchase using the coins earned for playing Paper Pirates.

Continuing on the theme of dress-up, why not make an explorer outfit for your pirates - or go undercover and try to mingle with the local wildlife!

In total, there are over forty new outfit shop items, so there’s plenty of new ways for you to customise your pirates.

New Outfit Customiser
As the number of things Sam Sherbot has on sale grows, we’ve overhauled the outfit customiser to make it more manageable when you have a large wardrobe for your pirates! The new outfit customiser is visible immediately when connecting to a game, and lets you start customising your pirate’s look right away. Don’t worry - the randomise buttons are still there for those of you who love to leave your look all up to chance!

Additionally, a new option on the outfit customiser lets you save your current outfit to a code, which you can then store and paste into the outfit customiser again to recreate your current look with one simple button press! This gives all pirates a great way to share dress-up tips, store a full range of outfits, or bring your outfit from one person’s game to another. If the owner of the game doesn’t have all the items in your outfit unlocked yet, they’ll get swapped out randomly for something they do have, so you might even uncover some new variations on your outfit that you love!

Daily Sales at the Outfit Shop
Sam Sherbot has been feeling generous of late, so they’re going to start offering a daily sale in the outfit shop. Each day a few categories from the shop will have a select number of items on sale, sometimes for as much as 75% off! The sales are the same for everyone, so if you see an item that’s a total steal, don’t forget to let your friends know so they can visit the Outfit Shop and pick it up for their game too!

A Few Other Things
 • We’ve revisited the Mutiny event to include crew interaction ensuring that the mutiny never feels like a product of bad luck. In the revamped Mutiny event, all players are given an opportunity to vote in secret as to whether they favour the mutiny, or not. If half or more of the crew vote to Mutiny, the captain is thrown overboard, with anyone who voted for the Mutiny having a chance to become a ghost if the captain was a human.
 • We’ve improved the way events are chosen each day, so you should see events that you see less often appearing more, to help keep every game fresh and unique!
 • The timer now has a visual indicator, which shows the number of seconds remaining before time’s up!
 • The ‘Bandana’ outfit category has been renamed to ‘Headwear’ to more accurately reflect the type of items in this category.
 • Attempting to start the game from a connected device now triggers a short countdown before the game is started. Attempts to start the game can be aborted from the main screen before the timer elapses.

Bug Fixes
 • A rare bug which caused pirates to play-in twice is now hopefully resolved.
 • Some text in the How to Play Guide for Default Games was accidentally duplicated, and has now been removed.
