Progress Report on things
NOTE - This is NOT a new patch, this is just what we've been working on!
[p]-------------------------------
RELEASE DATE FOR NEW PATCH
So let's just get this out of the way; we're aiming for a late November release now for the patch, but at worst, it will absolutely be out before year's end.
The main reasons for this change in release come down to two things:
First, after running a few polls on Discord as well as taking feedback from the Steam forums, we decided we wanted to improve on some major pain points within the game by adjusting or adding new quality of life features that people overwhelmingly asked for.
REVAMPED CHOICE/ANSWER INTERFACE
This one's the one that's taking the most time to implement, but we think it'll be one of the strongest improvements.
Currently, when you pick a choice when you're asked a question in-game, you have no idea what Ideals will be affected by said choice.
It's also a bit aesthetically jank, as well.
So we've added in the option to see Ideals with your choices; this will be on by default, but you'll be able to toggle it off in the options menu. (And, for those who really preferred the old look, that'll be available to use in the Level Editor once that's implemented as well.)
We've also added a line above the question that'll remind you of what exactly's being asked, (which will especially be useful for autoplay mode; more on that down below).
Here's a video clip showing the new look in action (sound effects aren't implemented for it yet):
AUTOPLAY FOR CUTSCENES/DATABANKS
This will allow you to press a button on your keyboard/controller to toggle autoplay of cutscenes and databanks; you'll still need to select choices when questions come up, but otherwise, the scene/databank will play out at a regular pace.
The toggle for autoplay mode will of course work during the scene/databank too, so you don't need to go into the options menu to set this, nor will you have to be locked in for either setting once the scene/databank's started.
ADJUSTED UNLOCKS FOR GALLERY/ACHIEVEMENTS
We'll be moving the special "10 achievements unlock" scene to just 5 achievements required, and once you beat a level, all gallery scenes for the level will unlock, regardless of achievements acquired.
This change will be affect existing save files, so you don't need to start a new run to have this happen.
We'll potentially have a new benefit for getting 10 achievements or even all 50 achievements down the line, but for now, we're going to focus on getting this next patch out.
Finally, as a reminder, there's also the "auto saves get created per level" feature that got mentioned in the previous post, so that should further improve the gameplay experience.
And as for that second reason for extra time needed for the patch, it's so we can bugtest these new features, given how much potential there is for bugs to pop up with them.
-------------------------------
We do want to get you this patch ASAP, but we also want to make sure it's as solid as possible.
So hopefully us getting it to you later than we'd expected is somewhat understandable; we'll keep you all updated as things progress, too.
And as always, thanks for reading this post, and sticking with the game; it means the world to us.
