This Days Gone mod makes zombie hordes truly enormous

With the action-adventure game now on our home platform, Days Gone PC mods have been flooding in of late. So far, we've seen some cool reshades, weapon, equipment, and stat adjustments, and even one creation that slows the zombies down to more of a shuffle than a sprint. Now, though, there's an offering that offers a whole new (frankly terrifying) level of challenges where the game's zombies are concerned.

Modder Aigmir has posted a new Days Gone mod that dials up the size of the open-world game's zombie hordes to make them truly enormous. Hordes are a big hazard in Days Gone, which are made up of anywhere between 50 and 500 swarmers, and 40 of them roam about in-game waiting to pounce on poor old Deacon. This new mod, however, changes that range to 280-600, with boss hordes being a tad bigger.

These massive new hordes won't just be randomised in where they appear, though. The modder says they didn't just want to boost numbers but stick to developer Bend Studio's plans about where each size horde would appear, so you can expect five different 'tiers' of horde (five being the biggest) to appear in the spots you'd expect. The largest of these is a boss horde of an eye-watering 670 swarmers, which'll pop up at Mt. Bailey.

Don't expect new PlayStation exclusives to come to PC at launch

Sony have already released former PlayStation exclusives Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone to PC, and Uncharted 4 might well be next, but it seems they still have plans for more. (Which is nice, because three games really isn't that many.) PlayStation boss Herman Hulst says Sony will "continue to look at the right times" to bring more scloosies over. From the sounds of things, we probably won't see those exclusives on PC at launch, however.

More PlayStation PC ports are coming, but not at launch

Sony didn't just decide to bring Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone to PC and then give up, it turns out. Shortly after leaking their own plans for an Uncharted 4 PC port, the PlayStation folks are reiterating their plans for computer ports. PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst says there's more on the way - though you certainly shouldn't expect these games day-and-date with their console counterparts.

"I want to emphasize that PlayStation will remain the best place to play our PlayStation Studios titles at launch," Hulst says in a PlayStation Blog interview. By 'best place', I think it's safe to guess that he means 'only place'. He says that "releasing games on PC will not come ever at the expense of building an exciting lineup of great console games."

So don't expect PC to become the primary place you'll see Sony's lineup of first-party IP, but it sounds like we can continue to expect ports a few years after a given console game has come to market. "We do value PC gamers," Hulst says, "and we'll continue to look at the right times to launch each game. Bend Studio just released the PC version of Days Gone on May 18. So that's about two years after the PS4 release."
