Release Notes #70 (Version: 1.0.9160.24472)

Linux is not supported by DOTW.

That said, I have been able to install the latest version of the game on Linux Mint, and the game appears to be fully functional, with these known exceptions:

  • Background music does not play
  • The link to open the game manual does not function. You have to open the file manually yourself. It is located at:
    /home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Destiny of the World/Database/DOTW_Manual.pdf
  • The links to open the game tutorials do not function. You have to open the files manually yourself. They are located at:
    /home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Destiny of the World/Database/TutorialPart1.mp4
    /home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Destiny of the World/Database/TutorialPart2.mp4
    /home//.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Destiny of the World/Database/TutorialPart3.mp4

There is no guarantee that it will work for you, but if you have already bought the game, and use Linux, you can try to run it using Steam Proton. It may also work on Ubuntu, and other distributions based on Ubuntu. To do so:

1) In Steam, right-click on "Destiny of the World" in your game list, and select "Properties" from the drop-down menu
2) Click on "Compatibility" on the Steam Properties Dialog Box.
3) Make sure the checkbox labeled "Force the use of a specific Steam Play Compatibility tool" is checked.
4) Select "Proton Hotfix" from the list of Proton Versions
5) Launch the game normally from Steam
6) Hopefully, the game will launch, but no guarantees.
