Release Notes #52 (Version: 1.0.8734.18933)

A major addition in this update is a new scenario: Operation Unthinkable.

As the outcome of the war became more certain, the Allies began to consider what would happen to countries like Poland, who were occupied by the Soviet Union. Relations with the Soviet Union had deteriorated, and the only way to assure a free Poland seemed to be for the UK and USA to continue the war against the Soviet Union. The plan was code-named: Operation Unthinkable. In this 'what-if' scenario, the UK and USA attack the USSR after the Axis powers have been defeated.

The USSR had already begun to debmobilize the huge forces it had at then end of World War II. The Allies must strike quickly before the USSR can remobilize.

The active participants are the Allies (UK and USA), and the 'Axis' (USSR). France, Italy and Japan are neutral. Germany is still occupied by the UK, USSR, and USA.

New Functionality:
  • Added new scenario: Operation Unthinkable
  • Withdraw from battle. Added new combat mechanic to give units that are getting mauled a chance to withdraw from the battle

Changes:
  • When a region is captured, any air units participating in the battle will now attempt to return to their starting bases. Previously, they would return to the newly captured region, if it had an airbase. Since airbases can sortie a limited number of aircraft, placing them in the newly captured region would often place them over their base limits, limiting their effectiveness until they were manually rebased again. Returning them to their starting bases gives control to the player on how he wants his aircraft staged.

Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed bug where country would incorrectly sell resources it needed
  • Fixed bug where unit that was assigned garrison duty could be redeployed
  • Fixed move map for Heroica region to prevent it being used as a canal
