Bringing Life to the new World
[p]Hello Captains,[/p][p]We’ve been busy behind the scenes, not only improving existing features and systems but also working on brand-new ones for upcoming updates. Today, we’d like to give you a sneak peek at some of the world-building improvements coming your way with the new map, which takes place in Norway - the Lofoten region. The new map will also introduce new ports. [/p][p][/p]
New Houses – With Character
[p]For the entirely reworked map, we’re introducing a completely new approach to houses, industrial buildings and offices. Some buildings appear freshly painted and well-maintained, while others reveal the passage of time through weathering, dirt, and wear. This is the first time we’ve brought visible ageing into our environments, giving towns and villages a much more authentic and lived-in feeling.[/p][p]With this system, locations will feel more alive than ever before—whether you’re walking past a freshly built house or an old seaside building battered by the elements.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p][p]
[/p]
Offices, Tool Shops & Weather Effects
[p]We’re also reworking offices and tool shops, making them accessible for players to step inside and interact with. This adds another layer of immersion to the world, giving you more places to explore and use.[/p][p]Additionally, the weather system is being updated and tailored to the new map. From heavy rain to storms, atmospheric immersion will be even deeper. Just look at how moody it gets ⛈️✨ — and yes, now you’ll finally have a place to hide when the storm hits: the office![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p]
New Ferry Terminal – Modular and Ready for Operations
[p]Another major addition is the new ferry terminal. It’s fully modular, meaning the hydraulics will adjust when ferries dock to prepare for loading and unloading. This feature not only enhances realism but also lays the groundwork for upcoming ferry operations that we’ll expand on in future updates.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p]
Looking Ahead
[p]We’re steadily shaping Ships At Sea into a living, breathing ship simulation world. Naturally ageing buildings, evolving infrastructure, accessible interiors, improved weather, and enhanced graphics and lighting across day and night are laying the foundation for richer, more immersive gameplay.[/p][p]We’re also working on dedicated server support — moving beyond the friends list so you can connect with more captains worldwide. This will allow us to potentially increase co-op sessions slightly, bringing a few more captains together to make teamwork at sea even more engaging.[/p][p]In addition, we’re expanding boat ownership: everyone in the same company will be able to help equip and prepare ships with gear and resources, giving each crew member greater responsibilities and a stronger sense of ownership.[/p][p]And since sailing and ship simulation are at the heart of the game, refining ship physics and buoyancy remains a top priority — ensuring every vessel feels and steers authentically on the open sea.[/p][p]Stay tuned — plenty more updates are on the horizon! 🌊⚓[/p][p][/p][p]Team Misc Games[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
