The 100-Player Twitch Chat Party Pack News

Version 0.34 Is Live!

I've got a small update but it's a good one: Bombertown now has a map that shrinks over time. It's the last piece needed to give it the battle royale treatment, and games will now end faster, and get more intense as time goes on. No more Bombertown games that drag out forever.

Keep me posted if there's something you want changed/added.

All the best!

Version 0.33 Is Live!

I hope you have been well and thanks again for playing my game!

A major milestone was hit this week: For the first time ever, a streamer was able to fill all the games with 100 players! And everything held up perfectly (no crashes or slowdowns)! It was really amazing to finally see the game come to live in the environment it was literally designed for, and these games really do get more fun as you get closer to 100 players.

As more and more people are playing these games, I'm getting lots of feedback on what people want to see. Bombertown has absolutely been the one game in the pack that has needed more love, so I gave it some attention in this update! We still need a way to shrink the map and force the game to end, but a lot of things have been improved and I'll keep making these games better.

Updates:

Happy Tanksgiving:
  • When the streamer tank dies, the Health indicator is removed so it doesn't cover the "Kill Mode" button

Minesweeper 100:
  • Added a new streamer flag

Bombertown:
  • Actually finished building the board so breakable powerup walls appear when there are more than 50 players
  • The fire from the bombs no longer kills powerups. We want fast, chaotic games, not long drawn out boring ones
  • The fire from the bombs no longer hides the streamer
  • Drill powerups and health powerups are much more rare now
  • Streamer bomb and fire power change from icons to "x8" at the right time now. No more excess icons that escape the UI.
  • Kill Mode button doesn't linger around after the game ends like an awkward teenager
  • If the streamer dies before the game starts, there won't be weird bugs

Don't forget, I still make custom tombstones and hats for Happy Tanksgiving, so if you want to look super cool when your favorite streamer plays (and actually find yourself easily in the chaos), hit me up.

That's all I got for now - if there's anything you'd like me to make a priority, let me know!

All the best,
-Jaime

Version 0.32 Is Live!

To all of you that have purchased and played the game on your channel while everyone has been so cooped up inside, you have my sincerest thanks.

I noticed a problem where some streamers flew through the opening instructions and didn't allow the bot to speak in their channel. That bot actually provides a lot of important instructions to the viewers in the twitch chat, so if that's missing, there can be a lot of confusion for everyone. I've reworked that beginning connection section so it

A. Makes more sense
B. Feels like you're hacking into an old computer terminal from the early 90s

I'm happy with the result so far and I've already got some ideas for how to make it better.

Smaller fixes have been made to kill little annoyances here and there, and my hope is to tackle some of the larger issues sooner than later. On my shortlist are...

  • Actual volme/mute controls for the music
  • Getting Bombertown's UI in sync with the other games
  • Fixing the resolution (it can get weird on a 4K monitor which I don't currently have)

Let me know if any of those (or anything else) is a priority for you and I'll get it on the list.

Thanks!
-Jaime

Version 0.31 Is Live!

What a week! People have been getting the game and playing it, and I immediately found things in the UI that needed to be fixed.

The major change in this update is that the Streamer UI for Happy Tanksgiving and Minesweeper 100 has gotten a major rehaul. There are now buttons for all the actions a Streamer can take, and the buttons are all in places that make sense. I also fixed a minor bug where the music loop was ignoring mutes, and I did some other code cleanup.

Also, I've gotten like 10 emails from "Streamers" that stopped streaming 3 years ago, with emails structured almost identically, asking for Steam Keys. Is there like, an online class for how to con Steam Keys out of developers?

Anyways, if you're one of the people that tried out my game and you saw something that needs correcting (or just doesn't feel right), let me know and I'll add it to the list!

All the best,
-Jaime

Version 0.30 Is Live!

Controller support is finally here! I've gotten Gamemaker setup to accept either Xbox controllers (Xinput) or regular controllers (DirectInput, like the PS4 controllers) to control your character if you happen to have one plugged in.

Other than that, there are some more improvements:

  • The Hovertanks actually hover! This is animated and it makes Happy Tanksgiving look more alive.
  • There is now a hyperlink that you can click on to buy the music in the game! The link in the game leads you to the licensed song here. Thanks again to Couteau Papillon for the amazing music.
  • Screenshake has been added to more places where it makes sense to have it.
  • Added a bunch of secret tanks to Happy Tanksgiving. Good luck finding them!
  • The Twitch link system is even clearer now - and it uses colored text to highlight that something important needs to happen.

If you've tried out the game and seen something that needs correcting (or just doesn't feel right), let me know and I'll add it to the list!

All the best,
-Jaime
