Ultimates Update: Balance, Improvements, and Fixes

[h2]Ultimates Fixes - 11/19/24[/h2]

  • Fix for invisible Mages after leaving battle with Stoneskin.
  • Fix Burrower Larva battle if dark ultimate is cast on Burrower Larva spawns.
  • Fix for a crash when some firewalls deny access.



[h2]Ultimates Balance and Fixes - 11/11/24[/h2]

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]

  • Improved Pustulant Carcass attack visuals.
  • Fixes for un-translateable text.
  • Made the seasonal visuals setting visual, but disabled, while in game.
  • Visual improvements to the Dark, Earth, Lightning, Nature, and Water Ultimates.
  • Lightning strikes visually show that there are different damage levels.
  • Lightning strikes show where they will hit with sparkling FX before the strike actually hits.
  • Unique FX for when Lighting hits a Lightning Rod.
  • Audio improvements to Lightning Ultimate.
  • Fixes for some full-screen FX during events. e.g. Cold Snap, Heatwave, Gloom
  • Fix for poison visuals so that the FX last as long as they should, even if the target dies.

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]

  • Fix for schools that had an unfinished construction block that was broken, and then cancelled.
  • Fix cast animation not playing when one mage needs to run multiple counter attack visualizations in a row.
  • Fix for error when dragging the queue and rightclicking simultaneously on the Research UI.
  • Fixed an error where the music would revert to main game play music from combat music after entering a ritual window.
  • Fix potential loss of input when entering combat while placing.
  • Adjust default camera field of view for lower ratio screens in combat to avoid overlaps.
  • Added ability to use custom resolutions.
  • Better adjusting Combat Log height based on screen ratio.
  • Combat Log now can scroll.

  • Fix for Mages sometimes gaining improper extra statuses for upgraded Wand needs. (Victory, etc.)

Fix for issues where sometimes Mages could not deliver everything needed.

Fixes for Doubt changes that happen when a Mage is on a broom.
Setting to enable and disable seasonal graphics while on the main menu. Forever halloween!
Updated Nature Ultimate audio.
Updated FX for Crystal Ball.
Updated Sal Reagents.
Fixes for Staff animations.
Fixes for Twitch client stability.


[h2]Ultimates Balance and Fixes - 11/3/24[/h2]
  • Fix error when dragging a crafting item and right-clicking.
  • Tighter fit on the right side for rituals for a better fit and to avoid the Start Ritual button being off screen.
  • Add scrolling for rewards on post-combat UI as needed.

Also aware of some issues with deliveries before construction. A proper fix will probably be tomorrow (Monday).

[h3]Critical Fixes[/h3]

  • Fix for some more older saves (pre-Apprentice release) that would load properly, then crash when hiring Students. Apologies to @HLLT and others!

[h3]Gameplay Changes[/h3]

  • In advanced combat, Hallowed One and Torch Snuffer now only drain mana on hits.
  • The founder will now sometimes cast while floating inside of blocked areas if it's the only way to reach their target.
  • Changes to ensure that adjusting low priority Storage will trigger evaluating Tasks on higher priority storage also.

[h3]Gameplay Changes[/h3]

  • Corrupted Mana Lanterns will now appear in the wings closest to the surface before pushing deeper.
  • Sustaining Terrain now works for enemies.

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]

  • Improvements to Torrent spell targeting.
  • Show info to explain that you need a meal when both in a starving state and At Death's Door in the alert message and hover.
  • Removed Augury Job Type from students who gained it due to a bug.
  • Fix incorrect and extra statuses showing up for battle setup related to boon/wane events.
  • Improved simulation performance when looking at the Tasks UI with many tasks.
  • Improved Ultimate animations.
  • Fixes for audio stinger balance and other audio issues.
  • Fix issue where haulers were frozen due to an out-of-date 'move from storage to storage' task.
  • Improvements to the Ritual UI to not overflow when there are many attendees. Especially helps in some non-English translations.
  • Updated Counterattack description to clarify which spell it will use and that it costs Mana.

[h3]Gameplay Changes[/h3]
  • Standard Difficulty starts with 3 Mages instead of 2.
  • Added new difficulty setting to allow healing slowly while sleeping in a regular bed.
  • Relaxed difficulty now lets Mages heal slowly while sleeping in a regular bed.
  • Added new difficulty setting for Advanced Wand Needs to select between an easier and harder mode.
  • Relaxed difficulty now uses an easier version of the Advanced Wand Needs.

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]
  • Fix for issue where hired students could end up with an extra Scar.
  • Make sure 'move between storage' tasks are updated properly if low priority storage gets a higher priority.
  • Fix issue where haulers would lock-up when considering tasks to move objects from one storage to another.
  • On the in-world UI for starting a battle, show the reason for battle not starting like we do for the alert hover.
  • Fix duplicate apprentice status showing up in combat setup.
  • Fix for incorrect wand need parameters if you changed difficulty during the game.
  • Unknown Scar Effects are now properly labeled that instead of Unknown Quirk.
  • Adjusted Book of Rooms to fit 4:3 screens.
  • Improved audio for Dark Ultimate.

  • Mages will no longer go start battles if they do not have their requested Potion.

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]

  • Added alerts for Battles and Rituals not starting due to lack of resources or unreachable resources.
  • Performance improvements for schools with many haulers, but not much storage available.
  • Dark Ultimate can now be targeted on enemies.
  • Added a Feed Alert for Spectral Croa appearance.
  • Added more information to explain that Spectral Croa can appear from Croa Corpses in storage on Spectral Croa description.
  • Improved Fire, Dark, and Water Ultimate visuals.
  • Added more information on Research UI and an Alert to show when the Research is not possible because the tier requirements(Skill/Room) are not met.
  • Fix for allied statuses not being detected properly for some spell cost modifiers, e.g. With Shadow Cloak, Tentacle Sweep II cost was not being reduced.
  • Early Rain events without lightning strikes are now just called Rain and not Storms in their alerts.
  • Rampage no longer targets furniture in fog or in Invaded rooms.
  • Now showing battle-related statuses in Combat Setup, like those from Bane events.
  • Now showing Blood Magic (Raven Cult Bane) costs in the Combat UI.
  • Updated Flow II and Flow III descriptions to have all the information that Flow I does.
  • Fix for Mana being over Mana Max when losing Dauntless from high Conviction.
  • Fix for L8-L10 Ember Golem text to correctly link Counterattack instead of Retaliate.
  • Now linking Blood Magic in Combat Log when it applies damage to Mages.
  • Fix for main menu music sometimes not fading our properly when loading a save while in combat.
  • Fixes for Crystal Ball icon.
  • Tweaked the Book of Rooms to make it more clear that you can scroll to see more.




[h2]Ultimates Balance and Fixes - 10/28[/h2]

[h3]Balance Changes[/h3]

  • Relaxed mode has starting research again. Applies to new games and existing saves from Ultimates.
  • Slightly nerfed enemy parties with Scythes in them. They now have advantaged terrain for the player, worse terrain for enemies, and weaker or fewer sidekicks for the Scythes.
  • Adjusted pacing of early-game events so that they don't hit quite as early.
  • Relaxed difficulty enemies how have lower HP.
  • Added more low Enemy HP custom difficulty options.
  • Tentacle Sweep HP cost lowered from 25% of Max HP to 20% of Max HP.
  • Introversion/Extroversion Needs no longer consider Quilted Helpers.
  • Doubled Victory gain from doing combat damage and killing enemies.
  • 2.5x Victory gain from winning a battle.

[h3]Fixes and Improvements[/h3]

  • Fixes for Founder Ghost sometimes getting stuck doing deliveries.
  • Updating Chinese translation with fixes.
  • Improvements to Room Requirements display.
  • Fix for enemy UI in combat being visible when it shouldn't be.
  • Fix for several descriptions not being updated properly for Ultimates.
  • Fix for a combat soft-lock when knocked out by exiting a lava terrain.
  • Fixed bug where dragon incubator tend window would spam UI sound
  • Fix deliveries by mages who don't have any skill in air. Among other issues, this could cause failure to perform rituals.
  • Fix for situations where Room Types might not be applied after a change to doors or halways.
  • Fix for some old savegames(pre-April) being loaded improperly and then crashing when hiring a staff. Reload your original save to fix if you have this situation.
  • Fix for Detachment 2 hover text.
  • Fix status icons not showing up in some cases during combat on the side displays.
  • Gaining Dauntless from high Conviction will now preserve the current mana fill %.
