Diplomacy is Not an Option News

Feature plans

In the nearest future:
1. Further balancing of missions' difficulty. Having this done, we hope that players of different skills will be able to easily find a difficulty that suits them.
2. Adding new map presets to the endless mode:
- The preset almost without attacking waves for those who want to build the city and avoid tense battles
- The preset with royal forces as your main enemy
- More of them to come
3. Bug fixing and game polishing

Later on:
1. Improving the map generation
2. Adding new languages. Please, do, share with us your ideas on what languages you think the game should support
3. Adding the brand new branch to the research tree. The one related with University.
4. Visual improvement of the mountain models. Already in work, so soon maps will become even more enjoyable to watch.
5. Adding more difficulty levels
6. Adding new in-game mechanics and features. We are not ready to announce them yet, as many things are under discussion right now. We need to get a clear picture of what we can implement and how much time it'll require. Also, we'd be grateful to hear suggestions from game community.
7. Improving UI, including increasing the font/ adding the option to scale UI
8. Improving UX, specifically for troops placement on walls and towers
9. Adding a “photo-mode” that hides UI for you to make great screenshots
10. Adding achievements!
11. Further bug fixing and general game polishing.

Full-launch will include:
1. Single-player campaign with 12 missions (counting 3 already presented in EA version). Apart from missions in the second part of the campaign you will see:
- New factions with bosses in their roster
- New unique enemies not belonging to any faction
2. More presets for the endless mode
3. New game type: puzzle-mode
4. Map editor
5. More features, buildings and in-game mechanics

Diplomacy Is Not An Option review (early access): peasant-smashing fun on a giant scale

Speaking as a generally terrified person who curls up into a tiny ball whenever they feel threatened, the tower defence genre really resonates with me. Like a besieged castle, I am also in a state of constant high-alert and paralysing, teeth-grinding stress. I am incapable of any kind of meaningful conflict resolution, and embarrassingly vulnerable to being destroyed by hundreds of angry men with swords over the course of several helpless minutes.

Diplomacy Is Not An Option doesn’t bill itself as a tower defence game, but it is a real-time strategy game about protecting your medieval settlement as wave after wave of attackers try to smash it up. Rather than have you traipsing around the map in search of trouble to make, there is a refreshing focus on defence – offence’s nerdy younger sister – with victory determined not by how well you’ve conquered the surrounding land, but how capable you are of taking a beating and coming out on top.
