Roadmap March 2021

Hi guys! I just wanted to share with you a few things on our roadmap. Some of these will drop on our next update in a few weeks, others, the update after that. It is our long-term goal to have a regular update every 6 weeks, with a small update somewhere in between.

First, here are a few community requested features we are working on:

  1. Lowered the volume of the pistol by 10%.
  2. Build menu now highlights objects when hovering. Also added little green hands that show you what you would build if you longpress.
  3. Added coins to wristwatch.
  4. Floating towers/traps now return to inventory faster.

We have our first challenge mode dropping in a few weeks: The Air Drop challenge!
In this mode you cannot take your coins, traps, towers, and ammo with you. Instead, you rely on loot that periodically drops from the sky :). Loot incoming!!!

Climbing! This is an experimental feature that we'd love to hear feedback on. How do we make the climbing experience better?

We re-vamped Main Menu to make it look and flow better.

In the near future, we will introduce a brand new mystery weapon!!! We can't show you a picture yet but we promise it'll be powerful!

New maps, we call scenes, take the longest to do since we like introducing many new things with a new scene. For example, every scene so far introduces a new enemy, a new trap, a new tower, a new weapon, as well as a completely different environment. It takes us a few months to finish a scene. We currently have 2 scenes we are working on. These won't be ready for our next update but probably the next one. After that, we are relying on you guys to tell us what scenes you'd like to see, please let us know in Steam or Discord because they take FOREVER ;).

Closed Alpha is going on now!

Ash of Legends is in free closed alpha! We are looking for alpha testers. Testers that give significant feedback will get the Early Access version for free! Sign up here...Link to google form.

  1. 6 new scenes: Tutorial, Hangar, Orchard, City, River, and Underground River.
  2. 3 difficulties: Easy, Normal, and Hard.
  3. 8 enemy types to discover. Learn their behavior to beat them.
  4. More than a dozen weapons.
  5. More than a dozen traps and towers.

If you use an HP Reverb headset and Valve Index controllers, you can use the launch option: "-platform index" without the quotes.

Our game supports both native Oculus and SteamVR apps. If you have an Oculus and want, for some reason, to use the SteamVR app, then the Oculus app must not be installed.

We recommend using thumbstick click to jump. If you use the Valve Index controllers, both thumbstick click and touchpad press work. For Windows Mixed Reality players, if your thumbstick click opens a dashboard, please select the WMR icon and set "Use joystick press to open Steam VR dashboard" to off. You can change jump styles in our options menu.

Saber slash / Tower health

Version 0.2.5

  1. The saber now has trails.
  2. Towers now show scratches when damaged.
  3. In the tutorial, you can now only build where the amber schematics are.
  4. Inventory crane now flies down if player removes object it is on.
  5. Upgraded warehouse walls/floors to look dirtier.
  6. Raise starting coins from 250 to 500 and guarantee 500 coins if no progress yet.
  7. Fixed a bug in tutorial where if you build a wall + trap and go outside, an invisible wall remains.
  8. Trap/Tower health now preserved when loading game save.

Patch Notes Version 0.2.4


  1. Added option for "Seated" and "Reclined" posture, default is "Standing". Main difference is where hip holsters are.
  2. Saber now does damage when holding your hand still while riding a hovercraft.
  3. Saber now does damage when throwing and using telekinesis.
  4. Fixed enemies pathing into trees in Orchard.
  5. Fixed loading from saved game with a horizontal launcher.

City Map Update

Happy New Year everybody! We've added 2 new defense sites in the Black Ghost City. There are now 4 sites: park, center, dead-end, and nightclub. They are randomly selected when you load the map. Dead-end and nightclub sites are only available on normal and hard difficulty.

Here are the patch notes since the start of alpha 2 weeks ago:

  1. City scene now has multiple defense sites: 2 on "easy", 4 on "normal" and "hard".
  2. Vive headset with Valve Index controllers now automatically detected. The launch option "-platform index" not needed.
  3. Added upgrading trap/tower sound fx.
  4. Fixed WMR and Vive Cosmos flickering on initial load.
  5. Lower back holster moved to chest holster making it easier for seated players.
  6. Improved saber interaction. Damage based on speed. Head hits work now too.
  7. Boat auto-pilot not engaging after using rudder and/or steering wheel
  8. Updated tutorial graphic and text to reflect lower back holster moved to chest.
  9. Laser pistol is now more accurate at point blank range however scope is more sensitive to hand movement.
