Loop Hero will get more speed settings

Loop Hero is a game about watching things happen. You do stuff occasionally, but mostly you watch a little dude walk around in circles and stab things. That happens at one of two speeds: slow, or slightly faster. Players have figured out some simple hacks to make the game run faster, but now the devs say they plan to add "new speed settings", which will hopefully let us get through our loops a bit more more quickly.

"We're working on patches with quality-of-life updates you all asked for, including a system for saving during expeditions, new speed settings, and a deck of traits gained from bosses," the devs say in the announcement. "After that, you can expect to see lots more content added to the game, such as new cards, transformations, classes and new music."

That announcement comes alongside the news that, within just one week of launch, Loop Hero has already reached over 500,000 players. (Its concurrent player count makes it one of Steam's top 20 most popular games, as SteamDB shows.)

500,000 Players Have Embraced Loop Hero!

We're so thrilled and blown away to announce that over 500,000 players have set out on loop adventures in the first week since Loop Hero's launch! But our biggest achievement has been to hit Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam user reviews - thank you all so much!

We're celebrating this all with a collaboration with Bard-the-zombie on a special series of Steam Trading Cards, available now in the game!

Next up, we're working on patches with quality-of-life updates you all asked for, including a system for saving during expeditions, new speed settings, and a deck of traits gained from bosses! After that, you can expect to see lots more content added to the game, such as new cards, transformations, classes and new music. We can’t wait to share more updates with you all soon!

Valheim and Loop Hero lead Steam top sellers

It was already clear Loop Hero was a hit on Steam, and now we know just how much of a hit. The Dungeons and Dragons-inspired RPG game, published by Devolver Digital and developed by Four Quarters, has ascended to the number two spot on this week's Steam top sellers list.

By taking the second spot, below the unflappable Valheim, this means the top two games in terms of cumulative revenue for the last week on Valve's store are indie games, no small feat when you consider some other entries. Looter-shooter action-adventure game Outriders has risen, seventh to fifth, meaning the demo that's available is clearly doing something right. Hades, the smash hit roguelike game that was one of our games of the year 2020, has returned to the list, currently sporting a 20% discount to attract new players.

Tale of Immortal, a Chinese open-world game that's been a regular on the chart of late, has dropped from third to sixth. The devs there are celebrating selling 1.8 million copies in a month by doubling down on an English translation. More DnD action, Baldur's Gate 3 moves up a step too, from ninth to eighth, and a free weekend has given Dying Light a boon. Deep Rock Galactic and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive round out the individual games, at fourth and ninth, respectively.

== IMPORTANT UPDATE ==
You might notice a new toggle on the bottom of the options menu - "alternative timing method" - it can fix freeses or lags for you, or maybe high CPU usage and overheating.
If you have those issues, try to switch it on (or off), and reboot the game if that doesn't work.
The button text is english-only for now, really sorry for that, will make it localized as soon as we can.

Other things patched:
Hopefully fixed "save corrupted" issue
Fixed an issue with game not giving out demo achievements to players
Removed a memory leak
Made an alternative save backup system, now the game is a little more safe from corrupted save files
Fixed "tripped" achievement not working in some cases
Hopefully fixed an error with necromancer on the 4th chapter boss
Bandits stealing things became a little more fair
Stamina loss is reduced when attacking with "blind fury" or "lightning fast" traits
Primal matter can't drop second ancestral crypt, arsenal, or zero milestone
Deleting ancestral crypt doesn't allow for infinite resurrections
Ancestral crypt is now showing as a 3rd type card
Battle fields no more turn into shipwrecks when placed diagonally to the river type tiles
Skeleton mages are actually mages now
Resources/items button saves its state between expeditions
Outpost dialogue now can't show instead of the boss dialogue
Various typos fixed
