Night Spasm Ver. 1.0.5.0 release | Battles Made Better!
Ver. 1.0.5.0 | Battles Made Better
Are the battles becoming too stale? Too easy? Too hard? Bore yourself no longer, because battles have just become a little spicier!
In this new update, the answer to winning a battle is never clear. Rather than simply selecting the weapon with the best stats, choosing the strongest move, and hitting the weakest target, battles require much more prediction, a good amount of pre-planning, and creative strategy with turn orders. With many newly added buffs and nerfs, brand new equipment, and some major physics changes, every battle is a greater chance to die, but a greater opportunity to find strange and useful treasures.
PATCH NOTES:
#1: The brand new POSITION SYSTEM
-The order of your party makes a major difference now. When a battle begins, each fighter has a 33% chance to receive 1 of 5 “position effects”, a special type of infliction that only appears at the start of a battle (indicated by an orange shield symbol). Position effects can be good, bad, or evenly both. Of the three positions (up front, middle, and behind), each position provides an advantage and disadvantage. Receiving the “up front effect” gives the actor higher damage and attack speed, but lower defense stats. The “middle effect” gives the actor higher accuracy and critical chances, but lower attack speed and critical defense. Lastly, the “behind effect” gives the actor higher defense stats, but less strength and accuracy. Your luck with the formation effects may brighten or worsen your battles. Position your party wisely!
#2: The new POSITION MENU
-Your FAD is a useful tool for directing party formation. With the newly improved position menu, you can easily change your party’s order and quickly understand each fighter’s stats better. Compare the equipment and stats of each fighter as you form your strategically-aligned row of heroes!
#3: The battles look better than ever!
-A major part of action is the sounds and animations. All attacks now have epic animations and retro video game battle sounds! From a simple sword slash to summoning fire, it is easier to recognize what moves are taking place on the battlefield!
#4: The effect of BD
-The strength of BD is a powerful asset in combat. Previously, BD was weak and useless, but some recent buffs make BD crucial! With an equal buff in player BD skills and enemy BD skills, battles move along much quicker, but require much more thought and planning. Although the battles are tougher, you will find yourself using less items and more UC, allowing you to choose between resourcefulness and convenience.
#5: Upgrading matters
-The strength of a basic weapon will not get you very far anymore. Therefore, upgrading them at your base should become a higher priority. The advantages of leveling up and repairing weapons are better and cheaper, allowing you to put your ckoins to another use! Something as simple as a basic sword can deal 10 more damage after a single upgrade! Upgrading is the new key to easier battles.
#6: The cold and the heat are useful tools
-Lacking power in your attacks? Try using temperature to your advantage! Previously, every enemy had a MCL and MHL of 1. Now, every enemy has strengths and weaknesses against heat and cold. Some skills are labeled with one of three tags in the description: “HOT+”, “COLD+”, or “MIX+”. When using “HOT+” skill, you will do extra damage equal to the enemy’s MCL (like fire melting ice). “COLD+” does extra damage equal to the enemy’s MHL, and “MIX+” does extra damage equal to the enemy’s MCL and MHL! But beware… enemies also use temperature skills, so keep your armor’s temperature neutral when going into battle!
#7: A new friend to talk to…
-An odd character found his way into your base. As a friend of MOG and a servant of a classified organization, this new character offers you useful information in exchange for ckoins. With a new addition to your FAD, you can view purchased info to learn many different topics! From fighting, Island geology, Island sciences, Island history, and so much more, Island education is quite the tool!
#SMALLER NOTES:
-The damage formula for counter attacks is different for the player and the enemy. Player counter attacks deal damage equal to his/her PN and the enemy’s BD. Enemy counter attacks deal damage equal to his/her enemy’s PN.
-Add 4 more bonus room to The Base.
-Made some CNT nerfs on a few survivors.
-Remedy CC9 now completely removes position effects (good and bad).
-Greatly decreased the number of shadow encounters seen during the Night Spasm.
-It now takes 200 steps to make a random encounter appear (rather than 100).
-Changed some messages that appear in battle.
-The ability to rotate the order of your party members by pressing the Z key is completely gone.
-Re-worked most of the dialog in the Teaching Garden tutorial.
-Made some small terrain changes to Scorp-ion Village, The Base, and Region A1.
-Buffed the Vinnia Follow boss fight: +150HP, +25SA, and smarter AI for defense options.
In celebration of this major update, Night Spasm is on sale for 50% off, lasting from July 21 to August 3rd! Expect more updates, big and small, in the near future!
